Great Video Vince, loved the ending on the cinderblock. I knew you had to find out on your own. When you go to some trade shows and they are demoing things like drill bits, they never seem to work as good as the show bits, LOL. I have all of these older model of tapes and love them all. I prefer the smaller model because it fits in my vest so much better and its not so big and bulky cause I do a lot of trim work. Keep up the good work brother the channel is growing and growing!!!!

Magnetic 16 ft Milwaukee is my all time favorite for its weight, compact, stand, and easiness to spot. The 25 ft is my backup and any measurements longer than 16 I use my Bosch 65 ft. Laser. So far I haven't broken any and if I do I have some spares to replace it immediately. I buy them on buy one take one deals

Red square is the common separation for studs that match an 8´ sheet, 6 spaces with 7 studs. The black diamond separates the same 8´sheet in 5 spaces to spare one stud. Black square using only even foot marks, separates in 4 spaces and spare another stud. All depends on the stiffness requiered for the structure and local codes. Another thing that I learned today thanks to your challenge, 2 more are missing for today Gerardo

I’m an apprentice electrician that works omg the commercial setting and my favorite is the Milwaukee 25’ magnetic wide blade. Compact take with all the bells and whistles with incredible standout. I also have my Milwaukee 16’ auto lock that doesn’t have a magnet for my small measuring tasks that doesn’t require the use of magnetization out on the end of the tape. It’s got a skinny blade and the standout isn’t great, so when point to things in discussion for pipe runs, etc, I find myself battling the bend break war of the tape in mist of a collaborative discussion with a coworker. All in all, Milwaukee is my go to with a lot of my tools in my trade, they have been cranking out some good tools lately, I love it

I got one of those and I can attest to the sturdiness of that tape measure. I was loading a 5x8 trailer with wood planks and concrete, which weighed in at 4,500 lbs. Well, i didn’t realize I dropped my tape measure and I ran over it with the trailer. Still works like a dream.

Those look great and I was impressed by the claim of an 80 got drop but I was curious if it was onto dirt or concrete. I went to the website and their claim has to astrix behind it but then I couldn't find anywhere on the page where that was referenced. Do you know if they are claiming a dirt landing or a hard surface?

For a 25’ measuring tape, the Stud is needlessly heavy and bulky for all day use. The Milwaukee 25’ Wide Blade Magnetic is much more practical. The Wide Blade isn’t advertised for 80-foot drops like the Stud, but it’s smaller, lighter, the design is almost identical to the Stud, and it’s sufficiently durable.

Nah, there's no need to run yours through a cinder block. I believe the demo. And I am not in favor of purposely trying to destroy a perfectly good tool. I like both the compact and the Stud. I have both. The Stud is for actual construction and the compact is for estimates and sizing up the job.

The red squares and a black diamonds are both for the same thing. They're both going to be indicative of stud placement. Basically if you want 16 inch centers you will end up with seven studs on an 8 foot sheet and if you go with the 19.2 inch centers which is the Black diamond you will get six studs per 8-foot sheet

Vince, the finger notch and the magnetic clip pre-dates the stud. Although the magnet might be stronger... The clip on the stud is crap! Let me explain: it has a single screw, and it failed a lot quicker than the previous generation. I would still be using my old one, but the tapes keep breaking... My bet is that the clip will fail now, rather than the tape. We need a good clip, Vince!

This is no Joke!! These are all left-handed tapes. Follow me on this. Assume you want to cut 2 feet off a 2X4. Because you are right-handed you pick up the pencil in your right hand and the tape in your left hand. You hook the "L" shaped end of the tape to the right end of the 2X4 and pull the tape to the left until your see 2 feet. You ready your right hand, the one with the pencil, to make a mark when you notice that the numbers are all upside down. Now try it again using your left hand to hold the pencil and your right hand to hold the tape. Hook the "L" piece of the tape on the left side of the board. Pull the tape to the right and all the numbers are right side up. This tape is for a left-handed person. This is a left-handed tape. If you don't believe me, try it.

I have the prior 25’ compact and I love it for its size and light weight. I just bought the new wide blade 25’ compact and I know I will love this new tape measure for the same reasons, now with the backside scale and some better standout.

I'm not seeing links to the new versions in the description. Can anyone hook a brother up? Amazon.com is my preference...

Pretty sure Milwaukee measures the number at the tape, not the support hand. But the hand makes more sense.

Your tests look perfect. I was hoping for longer standout straight. Currently using Stanley FatMax Xtreme as my main though I got a Fastcap ProCarpenter it only has 7ft straight standout though the markings are nice not having to think on the exact measurement ex. 7/16 or 11/16 which saves a little time on roof repairs. I like the wideblade compact size though since I sometimes lend my tape measure for 1 measurement I would buy the stud since I want a working tape measure if they drop it.

I live south east of PA its November 2019 but I have still not seen these new tapes anywhere! my local hardware stores that specialize in selling Milwaukee products don't have them not even at my local home depot 🤔

As soon as they roll out the gift center at your depot you should see the 25’ magnetic!

Great video love the content yes the stand out is good but i wish they would come up w a way to get them to not roll over for example when on a ladder reaching out w the tape flat on the wall measuring from the corner to pull a measurement for sheetrock they tend to twist and collapse at a very short stand out as do all tapes i think if Milwaukee solved that problem they'd Seal the deal on the market i know you have a lot of pull maybe this is a question you could get out to them don't get me wrong love the tape measure i have 3 and won't use anything else and that is my only complaint like i said w any tape would love to see Milwaukee solve that issue and remain on top other than that i love your review you cover all aspects of a tool honestly w no trickery thank you you have saved me a lot of money buying tools blindly only to have them fail w ultimately leads to less money and food on my familys table so thank you for your hard work in bringing the content you do for us out here trying to make an honest living

In my opinion, as a HVAC man, you can't beat the $10 autolock in 25ft from Milwaukee.

Yes! Run the cinder block test. It’s important to independently verify Milwaukee’s claims to make sure what they show case is what they’re putting on the shelf.
