the hardest thing about those bits is taking them out of the damn box. I always feel like my finger is going to slip and get cut on an adjacent bit. I use needle nose to get them out - it's ridiculous.

I store my drill bits with the cutting edges in, not out. First, you never worry about cutting your fingers when putting them in or taking them out. Second, it is easier to see and compare rod sizes than imagining the rod size when looking at the sharp end. It is easier to hold a bolt up to the flat back and see if the bit is a good size. I like the carriage bolt honorable mention idea. The magnet would quickly attract sharp iron filing that would have to be removed or risk injuring skin. The other ideas are good but esoteric for my own use.

I've got 2 sets, and I put a small carabiner clip attached to short nylon webbing on each. Then I just clip them to the D rings for the shoulder strap of my main tool bag. Keeps them hanging conveniently on the side and frees up a lot of real estate inside.

I made my own screw-on magnet before those were available. Bought rare earth magnets at the local surplus store, with holes already in them. I also have one of the smaller boxes with a belt clip, which came from the surplus store as well. Been using these for quite sometime now. I think the kickstand idea is brilliant! I sometimes use it to check the threads of a 1/4" bolt to confirm that it is in fact 1/4"-20 (which is what I often use with SnapToggle anchors). That's the most useful function I can think of. I've tried the kickstand thing just for fun, that could potentially be useful, but I never carry that bulky case with me anyway. I always wondered why anyone would want to attach a drill bit case to a tripod..

Probably their tests for the belt clip was turning up multiple failures one and the most major of which I can only assume was that the nut in the case would eventually after X amount of times tear out or the latter of my two ideas was the case would open/it'd get snagged.

@SLAM6348

I think the reason Milwaukee doesn't sell the belt clip anymore is because the nut will pull out of the case. If you look at the case, it shows the nut was pressed in from the outside instead of the inside. So when walking around with the clip on, the case would fall off & spill everything.

A really great use for the hole in the back of that case is to take a little piece of light weight chain that you can get from the home center and screw it to the back of the case then screw the other end of it to the drill press in the shop... now the bits are always there and never float away. Hi Vince, you recently reviewed Milwaukee’s little red shockwave toolboxes. Any idea why the bits are so hard to get out? I’m not fond of having my fingers slipping on a drillbit trying to pull it up and out of a too tight holder, and slicing my finger open. DeWalt has a much better style. Flip up 90° and pull the tool out with no effort. I’ve resorted to putting a small stubby screwdriver in the box, and prying up from the bottom on the bit shank until it breaks free. Much savings on Band-Aids!!!!

I'm wondering if the belt clip is no longer available because it wasn't a tight fit on your belt and they slipped off and fell. Hitting a co-worker with a falling object is a safety issue and they probably got tired of replacing the cases after breaking from the fall. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I use these for my job and find that the latch can easily break. I've had 4 break the internal latch from falling a few feet and one from a grill cart tipping over on it (10-15lb rolling on table onto box also on table). May be that they found the latches too vulnerable to impact for a belt clip to be useful. Still awesome boxes though

Id rather have my drill cliped to my belt... A drill falling from a ladder is much more thant 10.99 that these bits cases start at... I speak from exp.

I use the belt clip to hang a drill on my pant pocket if i'm just putting in a couple screws and dont have a tool belt on. If I'm really working and have my tool belt on, I actually find the best place for the belt clip is to hang the drill in my hammer loop. I also find the belt clip handy to hang drills in the part or a step ladder that connects the 2 legs. But yeah, never actually use a belt clip on a belt. Ryobi used to make a drill bit set storage rack called the "dock it". The mikwaukee sets look like they should fit, but dont. I really wish Milwauke would come out with something similar because my problem isn't what to do with the sets when I'm using them. It's how to store them nicely when I'm done. I probably have at least 10 of these mikwaukee boxes.

I've never ever ever in all my years of working with tools seen a guy walking around with his bit box on his belt... the reason they don't sell the clip is because they know its a dum idea but they put it on because "the more features the better"!! Also i do believe the bit holders rotate so...um...why the stand idea in the back? The video is meh but in the end its just a bit box fantasy and probably slightly more expensive bit box that you can get for a cheaper price from dewalt or ryobi for the same quality.
@carlspackler91
@carlspackler91 5 жыл бұрын
DeWalt? Cheaper? Yeah, because that's what their junk is known for LOL Ryobi??? Why are they even being mentioned in the same conversation? My kid is 7 with his own tool box, and even he knows better than to use Ryobi. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DeWalt and Ryobi he says, damn youngins....
@feltonfolder420
@feltonfolder420 5 жыл бұрын
@@carlspackler91 Carl Spackler Carl Spackler Carl Spackler Mr. Spackler i respect your opinion very much but i do believe a lesson is in order. The dewalt bit and the ryobi bit are likely manufactured in the same factory and branded in the same factory then shipped to dewalt and ryobi for packaging. As for the molded piece of plastic called the bit box or (whatever you call your bit box). I don't give a flying lump of **** what its features are do they hold the bits yes! Does a ryobi bit box hold my bits? Yes, does my dewalt bit box hold my bits? Yes, there the same. Also your kid has a tools at age 7 wow you must be rich and not making sure your kids not looking at tool porn at night because thats bad at his age you know! I got my first tool at age 10 and it was a handy down form my dad as a reward for helping him build the deck that still stands there to this day (20 nearly years later) (the tool was a square). Now the reason i mentioned dewalt and ryobi was because it applies to two types of people the "homeowner" who couldn't give a dam about it as long as it gets the job done and then you have contractor/real man (maybe) buy the most expensive brand of tools because there the best!! Ryobi being a "homeowners" brand just need it to work so yes it will be of a lower quality and this lower price. Dewalt on the other hand (mostly) is ment for the workplace so its more powerful, built better, and will last longer thus being more expensive and better held in regard. And ryobi is not the shity brand of handheld battery powered tools that title goes to mastercraft in my books. I have my intelligent reasons for saying the things i say and would rather not be insulted by being called a "damn youngins" when it is very obvious that you good man still have much to learn. Respectively Mr. Pearson Cheers from Canada.

@@feltonfolder420 Well YOU, my good man, need to take it easy and learn to recognize satire when you see it. Rich? Hardly. I work for my money. My kid has hand me down tools as well, that's why there's basically Klein, Estwing and Milwaukee in his stash because he gets MY hand me downs. I switched from DeWalt to Milwaukee 8 years ago and haven't regretted my decision once. I was sick and tired of always having to charge my batteries on the jobsite. Ironically, I just finished some work, begrudgingly with a DeWalt angle grinder because it's what they bought for the shop. Even with 2 like new 20v lithium ion batteries fully charged when I started, 4 short cuts into some aluminum/ mild steel proved to be too much for the mighty DeWalt grinder. They never fail to prove my point. DeWalt should be your first choice, if you don't like your money and you like stopping in the middle of a job to look for more suitable tools. I do agree with your point, that for someone who is an interior decorator hanging some fabulous pieces of art inside a home with 1/2" sheetrock and they don't want to risk injuring their weak little wrist, Ryobi is the perfect choice. Take it easy over there, you'll live longer. You old fart. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@@carlspackler91 Carl Spackler Mr. Spackler you bring up good points, but im confused as to why your shop bought a battery powered angel grinder?? Unless your doing very light work (wire brush/light grinding kinda work) thats poor knowledge of tool use i feel bad for that angle grinder you should always be using a corded tool when cutting metal. I think you need to have a word with your quartermaster about the proper tools.

What is the “drill bit” clamp 🗜 on the right side of Milwaukee impact drivers and drills? Bc they don’t hold any Milwaukee drill bits, but it appears it is for drill bits-“the clamp” seems too big for drill bit. Please advise. I have one impact driver and two drills with this. Thanks!-Mike
