Thanks Klaus, I knew to look out for your video when I was prompted to download the new version :) These seem like overall good updates. I knew that the merge from 'playlists' and 'virtual folders' into 'Lists' was coming, but there were some occasions where I would still want a 'playlist' type option where a song could appear more than once and in a specific order. Thankfully I've just now reached the sections starting at 13:04 that address this very concern :)

You are definitely the go-to-guy when new updates are released. Fantastic job as always !! Unfortunately for me I think they should have left the browser section alone. Since stems 2.0 I have used it extensively. To keep track of everything I have colour coded my playlists and virtual folders. When you update all that reference work is lost, so I quickly reverted back to build b7921. Will 7291 be my last update? I will have to create a ticket to VDJ moderators and hope someone sees it and understands the importance of the browser section to some of us who have strict structures in place, and perhaps we can bypass that section but still have the ability to upgrade to all the other updates. We will see🤞

More videos will probably come when special situations appear Yes, VDJ builds a new folder and uploads the tracks to it, like shown in the video. On most cloud providers it's hidden though. And yes lists are also synced. They are usually the basis for adding new tracks to be synced. That should also be shown in the video

It's not officially supported, because the haptic feedback and the screens are locked to only Traktor But you can find a mapping for the rest of it under settings-> extensions -> other -> custom mappers

Hi Klaus, Thanks for your usual support and help, I'm having a serious issue with list and I'm hoping if you can help me here, For some reason now with VDJ 24, when I create a new list (as a playlist) then when I go to Win Explorer I’m able to see the Folder with no issue, but as soon as I add a song to the list and go back to Win explorer I can’t find the folder anymore, it disappear. This happened whether I add song to a list or to a Subfolder below the list. Any idea why this is happening, I need to be able to see the playlists in Window explorer as sometime I need to copy playlist(s) to a usb in order to use it on my 2nd laptop. Can I log into another perons virtual dj with my account, Use my cloud drive, and Dj from their computer without effecting there computer and settings. If so that would make for an ultimate Virtual DJ. Question about the cloud sync. Is there a way to cache the cloudfiles? I have an option in tidal but not with my own tracks in the cloud. I tried to make them local via the cloud itself. But virtual DJ always loads the file from the cloud.

Drag from the Cloud list, to the local list... the track will be cached locally. One could then, as with any track, Move it as one wishes.... from the Right click menu... File operations > Move to..

Wait a minute... when did virtual folders list duplicates? It's always filtered out duplicates for me. Did that change in a more current version of VDJ than I use?

That is part of the change I believe. The new lists are a replacement for both virtual folders and playlists, and playlists (m3u files) could have the same track more than once. So on lists you can set if you want duplicates removed or not

really interesting i have a queston, where does vdj take the tracks listed in charts folder? i tried to load a song into a deck and i see that it is the whole song....

It depends on which chart folder If it's under one of the online content providers that has it, then it takes it from that content provider If you use the Charts folder under !"Ideas" it does a search on all the music you have access to in VDJ (could be local files that has been added to the VDJ database, could be cloud drive or could be an online content provider you are signed up for), grabs the first match, and loads that. For that reason it may be better to right-click and select "look up", which gives you a result list, and lets you decide which version of the track you want to load and play

Nothing. That's just what the physical folder is called on my laptop, because it was the folder I used to sync to my iPod 15 years ago 🙂

Regarding the sliders, they are not supposed to move together by default. If they did that, they would be useless for mixing If you want them to move together, you need to engage either pitch lock or beat lock

Hello Klaus and everyone, I hope someone can help me with this issue of the sampler. Since I updated to the 2025 Virtual DJ, The sampler pads (on my Virtual DJ software and the sampler sideview in the Tabs Visibility section) are referencing the same sampler bank but are not connected together. Even though they show the same sampler name on the pads and on the Tabs Visibility section, they play independently when I trigger the sampler from the pad versus the Tab visibility. How can I connect them together and have them sync so whether I paly them from the Pad section or the Sideview section, they can do the same thing? Thanks

It's important to remember that lists are really collections. So the order is always based on current sorting, not on original order. You can then sort by original order when needed

Thank you for taking the time to explain how this new update works since VDJ won't! Most of these "major updates", we djs, already do manually. Like key mixing and the so called fuzzy mixing. Cloud access is always welcome but most of us have external drives as backups. On a personal note... VDJ should have left the browser as it was. People spend years perfecting their playlists, crates, folders... Why change it VDJ? Why?

My Android VDJ Remote app (the new version) doesn't crash... In any case: If there is an issue with the remote app, it's not likely that it will be fixed with a VDJ update. That will most likely have to be done in an App upgrade

Hi Klaus, great informative video as usual. I have one concern, I’m using a 3rd party tool (Soundswitch) to control my lights. This is somehow connected to VDJ & reads the VDJ database I believe. Has the the format of the VDJ DB changed so that potentially SoundSwitch won’t list my songs in its interface?

No I don't think the database format has changed. But all the playlists have. I don't know if that will cause any issues regarding soundswitch But there is a new setting that makes VDJ store a copy of the old playlists for third party tools like cratehackers. That may help if needed? I would probably test the new version with soundswitch on a backup laptop just to make sure

I use SoundSwitch via Control One. If you have software version 2.8 you find that your playlists remain in the same file location and work as normal and can be found in the new VDJ "Ideas" folder in SoundSwitch edit mode they are in "Library/Playlists. The now combined virtual folders are in Library/Folders. All the scripted tracks work fine in Playlists. All the combined files have become a mess as many tracks are removed (not deleted). If you use these, they have to be repopulated.

Yes, as many as you like. You can just only be signed into VDJ on 2 laptops at the time (meant for having a primary and a backup laptop open and running VDJ at the same time). When you sign into VDJ a third laptop, you will get signed out of the first one. And if you then sign in again on the fist one, you will get signed out of the second one - and so on

Regarding the part related to mixing on key , In the upcoming updates, these options must be modified better and better than this See, for example, the options in the Serato dj pro , it's very easy and clear It is edited only once, and when you look at the song list, you will find the appropriate Key in color ( Meaning, the keys suitable for harmonic mixing will be of one color, while the other keys will have a different color ) and juste load the song that have a suitable key for harmonic mixing in the deck 2 and mix it with the deck 1 etc.. I think the idea is clear to those who have used the Serato program

Nothing has changed in VDJ except which songs are matched. So I doubt there will be a change regarding how it looks. Also it seems to be simpler in VDJ that in any other software

Yes, we have always been able to use good quality (stems 2.0) real time separated stems. That's what I do on my main DJ laptop But on my backup DJ laptop I can either use prepared stems or lower quality stems (the first version) because it's not as powerful as my main laptop So it depends on what laptop you use

Virtual DJ 2025 is horrible..its the worst ive ever seen them released. I crashed more today than i have in 15 years.. constantly freezing..and it wiped out all my samples and drops. Terrible just ruined a whole weekend. Not used to level of dysfunction.. feels like Serato
