this false narrative again . let me correct you 1 they had support but like ANY para operation ever in midst of hostile territory losses are always high and dont use iraq or afghanistan as an example we talking real countries , iraq was bombed to death before any such operation was done . 2 the VDV werent annihilated , they took around 200 to 300 losses , but the second wave took 0 losses . 3 the operation was succesful anyway and russia only retreated because it was a written condition of a deal that ukraine never respected reason why russia made the deal public . and you can clearly see that russia did retreat from the irpin antonov bucha axis as a part of an appeasement deal never respected by the other side. 4 VDVs record is pretty clean so far , they were behind the so called graveyard of the 13th in kherson where they managed to almost annihilate a whole regiment . they were also key in the capture of soledar and bakhmut , and they are right now key in in the Liman and kupyansk offensives . they are almost undefeated and the fact you use the only costly operations they had expose most of you as not well informed and fed biased rumors . 5 Wagner , VDV , chechens are still undefeated in any operation so far . any time there being used russia win the battle in general until redeployed . i am not a russian bot or whatever , these are facts . feel free to denie them this change nothing

And yes, they wouldn't alive without heavy tanks but ofk VDV doesn't have tanks because nobody can drop tanks from transport jets.

@@MegaGurren False, they were surrounded on three sides and forced to retreat to a forest after taking high losses and allowing the Ukrainians to crater the runway forcing the IL-76s that were supposed to land fresh troops and equipment to turn back. They totally failed to accomplish the objective and this forced they heavy units to have to take the airport for them and then waste more time in heavy and casualty intensive combat in Hostomel and Bucha which in turn delayed the advance of Kyiv and allowed the Ukrainian forces to better prepare.

@@MegaGurren Several sources including Russian ones reported on between 12 and 18 IL-76s taking off from Belarus before turning back in fact most sources I have read mention them. Also there is no secret plan, an assult to capture an airbase near a major objective to create an foothold for future advances requires paratroopers to take the airbase in question that is just common sense. Some of the first images of the war were of MI-8s dropping Russian VDV off and of a Russian MI-24 being shot down, these were followed by an image of a destroyed Ukrainian BTR-4 and another of 2 destroyed Russian BMD-4Ms. here is quit a long video made by a VDV paratrooper of them taking cover in the forest after being forced to retreat from the airport and wait for heavy units to arrive. At the time this war happening several Russian soldiers made posts of telegram and other social media about how they were frustrated that they had to do the work the VDV was meant to do. Finally there are images of Ukrainian troops celebrating their short lived victory over the VDV before they are pushed back by Russian army units. The battle of Hostomel is one of the best documented of the war.
