Been waiting to see someone make one of these, looks cracking! Would you recommend this kit to a beginner railway modeller?

I would say it's a bit of a push for a beginner, here are some fiddly bits soldering the pipe work, brass, tools... There's a lot of elements to it... It's not impossible but for me I designed and built it, with a fair few years of building various kits, brass, resin, plastics and metals and even scratch building. It's a lot of those skills combined in to one. Resin is a tricky material as well as it can be brittle.. and difficult. Plus today one of the suppliers mentioned in the video has just gone in to liquidation.. 🙁 so having to source some different ones.

Sounds like an intermediate kit, it really is an absolute stunner though. Bluebell Railway’s “Captain Baxter” is one of my favourites, and though her work was primarily at a quarry (Dorking Greystone Lime Co.) She really would suit anything, from branchline goods/freight services to shunting in a yard. Bugger about losing a supplier like that, but I’m sure you’ll find a new one eventually. Has to be something out there.
