Vector ICON IV | Review

The Vector Icon IV ($95) is the fourth-generation of Vector-KGM's touch sensitive lighters. To ignite the lighter, you flip open the lid which starts the flow of butane and then press the body of the lighter, where a touch-sensitive panel uses a rechargeable battery to provide spark. The ICON IV uses a flat flame, which differs from the multi-flame versions of the past.

Great review. I've been watching quite a few of them recently, trying to get ideas for a new, better quality, torch lighter. The Jetline offerings are quite appealing due to the pricing, but I wouldn't mind spending much more if I was sure it would continue to work.

Excellent, thorough review. As an Icon I owner, I can attest to how hot these things get. The body of the Icon is a killer. However, in many other torches it’s the actual ignition button/lever/etc. Why have they not yet found a way to make torches that do t try to turn our fingers into bacon?!

I think yours might have a faulty valve. Just bought one after watching this vid, flame was super low out of the box, turned it up all the way and nearly burned off my eyebrows.

PS: The heat issue gets infinitely worse with the flame at full tilt.

my ignition is NOT rock solid AT ALL. ONE ignition out of TEN FAILs -if lucky. And THAT is an enormous amount of wasted fuel. On a full charge, it's pau after 5 or 6 lights. Wait. What? How many lights are others getting? I'm all for rechargeable batteries vs disposable but not when NO battery will do just fine. I wanted to like this lighter. But no thanks.
