I think it's kind of a mix of the two when I look closer. I mean I know what you're saying about the square/rectangle multi-colored blocks, but I think the hill shapes and cloud shapes are more SMW in character. Either way, 100% agreed on the remix itself. I hadn't even realized there were SM3 elements in that background, so thanks for pointing it out.
