I really loved VEDA. I subscribed to you a long time ago because you work for and are friends with some of my favorite KZbinrs. This month has made me realize how much I love your sense of humor and vlogging style. I'd love to see what else you happen to make in the future. =3

I'd never seen "my declaration" before and now I just did and... there's this type of video you make like 'heavy memory' and now 'the declaration' and also "on the marriage wish" even though it's not on your channel. These videos always make me think and usually they leave an impression but often just like you did, I don't know what kind of an impression. But I know they always make me want to be a better person, they make me want to be warm, or at least warmer than I am now. And they make me want to make art, if that's in videos or in novels or even in cooking. And they make me remember that here, for me, is the best place on KZbin.

I look forward to seeing more content, Michael! Also, it's so cool to have someone who recognises that a lot of us are not in a suitable position to donate on Subbable. All of my favourite content always sends me down the guilt trip road, because I'm enjoying the content, but am in college and can't afford to donate.

I'm not a poor college student, so I should be giving something...and I will. (After all, I support those Green Brothers already, and what have THEY ever done?) Only I'm torn. If enough Subbable support would mean leaving your current job, what does that mean? Because I LOVE the work you do with the Brain Scoop and Sci Show, and would hate to see those suffer if you left. At the same time, I understand it may be just too draining to expect you to continue trying to do ALL THE THINGS...because really, only Hank can do that, right? Anyway, I'll give something. My Subbable bill is still well below my satellite dish bill, and I DON'T WATCH TV. (Sadly, my wife is not really converted...yet. But I'm working on it...)

This is why you are, without a doubt, my favorite KZbinr. I would absolutely love to see more content on here and you (ultimately) supporting yourself from the creation of your own work. And I think that's something you would really enjoy as well. As soon as I graduate and can actually support myself, I will definitely be subscribing to you on Subbable! :) Keep up the awesome work Michael!

I understand that you can't dive completely into making your own creations all the time, but I'm glad you've reawakened your interest in creative expression. I really enjoy the videos you used to make before you got so swamped with work, and I look forward to seeing what new things you produce when you find the time. Your videos were what drew me in and inspired me to take an active part in KZbin, both through exploring the site to discover all sorts of interesting people and through making my own videos. I've made a lot of bad or mediocre videos and several good ones too, and have expanded to three channels. And best of all, I've made friends with far away people I never would have known otherwise. So thank you, Michael, for what you do and have done, and I wish you all the best.

Michael, you really put my faith back in the internet, like It's hard to explain but I really do like the vibe you put out in your videos. I feel like other people will agree with me on this. like just all the thought you put into the videos and the time it takes to actually make. For example, just the thought of putting this video in black and white is very interesting and puts out a sort of vibe of creativity and personality. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but the internet/youtube needs more of youtubers/content creators like you!

Michael just seems like such a genuine person. Not to mention his videos are amazing. I was considering donating until he got up to that "unless youre a starving college student" bit. Yeah 3 jobs and still relying on parents isnt exactly the best prospective donor. But it's so awesome that he would even discourage me, makes me want to support people like him even more (his evil plan all along).
@PSpurgeonCubFan10 жыл бұрын
Your work on other KZbin projects is a huge part of what makes you awesome. Please don't bail on the behind the scenes stuff. They need you. If they all are not showing you how much they appreciate your contributions, that's really harsh - which seems rather un-nerdfighteri-ish. I can't imagine how much my favorite KZbin vids would suck without your expertise. Please stay.
@michaelaranda10 жыл бұрын
I've seen this and similar sentiments quite a few times, and I understand that me working on stuff for other people makes you guys happy, but what if it doesn't make ME happy anymore? I'm not saying that's the case; I still enjoy the work that I do for now, but I'm pretty sure my own happiness and creative satisfaction in the long run will require that I someday focus on my own videos/music/novels/films/whatever.
@EkiAku10 жыл бұрын
***** I would of course support you in making yourself happy. But a part of me still hopes that working on the brain scoop still makes you happy. And you know, I don't know if it's exactly in your jurisdiction anymore because the Field Museum sponsors everything, but I'd love to see you be less behind the scenes. I think you and Emily play off each other REALLY well. And now I'm just rambling, forgive me.
@PSpurgeonCubFan10 жыл бұрын
***** I apologize. Yes, you should progress. You should certainly do things that are fulfilling and bring you happiness. I made my comment because I fear that your skills will not be matched by whomever takes your place if/when you decide to stop working on scishow, crashcourse, the brainscoop, etc. Is there a way that you can mentor someone? groom your replacement? show them the ropes? insert other similar cliche?

You say there is so much great stuff out there to watch, but there really isn't that much outstanding stuff. Most of it is average. Perhaps it is because you don't do them that often, but your videos do stand out and are always worth watching. Also - it is a little less, not more, than one video every two days.

could you make a video talking about the sexual abuse problem on youtube??? i realise that it may be uncomfortable due to your relationship to people involved but i think it would continue a discussion that seems to have fizzled out. also much of the content from the larger youtubers has been very generalised talk on consent and the like which, while incredibly important, seem to skirt around the hard facts. i just think you could make a difference. thanks x

In 2011, the median income of households in America was $50,054 per year. At $3,000 a month, I'd be making $36,000 per year. After payments for a mortgage, student loans, car loans, auto insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, and, like, food, $36,000 a year isn't a whole lot. Being an adult kinda sucks sometimes.
