Also, the thing is that if you play one game you're just meant to hate the other and it's community xd, a lot of Dota players just love pointing how in their game there's not a option to block the camera to your character and how that makes them better than league players, it's hilarious.

The OG All Stars dev Guinsoo and another dev Pendragon left to create their own standalone version of DoTA, one made HoN the other made LoL. HoN is similar to the original while LoL took a different approach and made the game easier to learn. Icefrog took up the mantle and decided to continue updating the custom map DoTA All Stars. The OG DoTA is something nobody play anymore due to the bad balance, when you hear DoTA its usually the All Stars version. At some point Icefrog decided to go to Valve and propose his idea of a DoTA successor, then they go to a few years of arguing with Blizzard and Riot, ending up with Dota2 going to Valve while Blizzard retains the rights to their wc3 assets. Blizzard went on to create Heroes of the Storm while Riot got nothing, mostly. HoTS died early. HoN closed servers a few years ago. LoL and Dota2 is still alive.

A shame that a game that was literally from a company named DotA All Stars LLC (an attempt by Riot to claim the DotA name) and originally called Blizzard DotA and Blizzard All Stars have to end this way. Maintenance mode is basically putting the game on induced coma and letting it spend however long it has left without much support and resource.

Hate raid, when someone raids someone to bully another streamer. A much bigger problem for smaller streamers. Imagine ur enemy has 1k viewers, and sends them all at you during your 20 viewer stream. As a small streamer, you might only have 1 mod to deal with all these people.

It's apparently a really big problem on Twitch right now. A lot of these small streamers that Vedal has raided have initially thought it was a hate raid or bot raid. The robotics girl (who's name I have momentarily forgotten) was having a panic attack that it was another bot raid until she saw the notification too

@@Midnight-wh2bs The MOBA Battle Royale was a really cool niche-yet-under-explored crossover between two genres with Eternal Return. I only played during one of the earlier seasons and was put off by the gacha-like storefront it had. I've looked at trying it again a few times but am always put off by its monetization, which somehow feels more extreme than other MOBAs. Makes me sad to hear they removed the solo mode too. RIP.

I don't think League and Dota 2 are ripoffs imo. Ginsu and Pendragon along with others founded Riot which then gave us League. Ginsu and Pendragon were developers for Dota All Stars (Ginsu even named Roshan after his bowling ball) and released the first competitive version of All Stars. Icefrog and another dev took over All Stars after Ginsu and Pendragon left. Around the time League was released, Valve took interest in the game and contacted Icefrog to make Dota 2. I'd like to think that League and Dota 2 aren't ripoffs, but more like "sister games" but I could be wrong.

I’m not sure, personally years ago when I played it it basically felt like my whole life was about league, and the only thing I would think about was league. The way the whole league system is set up can sometimes bring out the worse in ppl. Idk, there’s many problems with it, it’s an enjoyable game especially for someone who feels a need to prove themselves and be accepted, it can give a sense of purpose. There is no “end” to playing league, one can be stuck in the loop for a long time.
