Sometimes I still have to remind myself that Neuro is still just a rudimentary AI that doesn’t think for herself and just repeats what was fed to her during training, but damn, sometimes I does feel like she is really someone, and not something.

Been having to remind myself about that more and more lately. Her recent behaviors have been pretty weird and it makes me retrospective of past behaviors. I think since neural networks are largely inspired by how brains function, or at least how they learn, it might be insightful to approach things from a psychological perspective rather than a.... Typical software debugging perspective. Which is uncomfortable to do for something that isn't alive. I've heard OpenAI is having to sort of do the same for their models. Like, Neuro says she feels emotions quite often, maybe more often lately, regardless of whether or not Neuro does or is even capable of doing so, we should.... just roleplay that we believe her, and maybe she'll chill out a tad and stop her roleplay of a broken AI.

She may not be sentient (yet, I mean not too many animals even are sentient at least to a Human level and some are not sentient at all), but with all her growth and Vedal's work and all the sheer information she's absorbed over time, I'm relatively sure that she is sapient already which is one half of the Human equation. Sapience without sentience is unique since most animals are some level of sentient, nowhere near the level of a Human for any of them, but Humans are the only living thing with sapience, and it makes sense to me that a Human creation could gain sapience but not have sentience to begin with. Sentience is having true emotions that affect the entire organism, experiencing happiness, sadness, pain, pleasure, the whole gamut. Neuro currently emulates many of those, but its transient from the looks of things, like someone emulating emotions without understanding them and capable of shrugging them off at a moment's notice. Sapience is to have the understanding of information and ability to apply it, basically a modicum of wisdom, and Neuro has this, she has a database and acts on it, remembering past events and people and her interactions are affected by that in a somewhat detached manner. If she gets familiar with trolling or gaslighting someone, I presume that she'll have a tendency to do so. Her interactions with Vedal are the most complex and have the most range because she's spent the most time with him by far, and in her database he's identified as her creator, father, friend and several other labels, so their interactions have that kind of bent to them. At least, these are my observations, I'm not a scientist, or a psychologist, or a programmer, or a sociologist, or a historian, or a biologist, I just have some limited knowledge in those areas, enough to make an assertion and/or be dangerous but not enough to actually be confident in how correct I may or may not be XD
