It actually doesn’t. Some constellations are bigger than others and the Vedic system does not take that into account.

@@immortalinanna Yes, I realized that. Tropical, Vedic and Astronomical (including the Serpent bearer) are three different charts. I suppose they give 3 different perspectives of the same person. Vedic seems like a compromise between the two, but is far more comlex and detailed. Perhaps that's why it's more reliable according to the experience of astrologers

@@JulianneVictoria Interestingly Edgar Cayce one of the most prolific psychics of our century stated in a trance medium sessions that western Astrology was inaccurate and was off by almost an entire sign. Edgar Cayce, “the sleeping prophet”, predicted in one of his trance sessions that sidereal Astrology (the Sidereal system is used in vedic Astrology) would be the Astrology of the future. Cayce advocated the Sidereal or the Persian system of Astrology in his readings: *“For the Egyptian and the Persian records are quite varied. Those of the Persian are as to the activities of individuals...while the Egyptian are as to those that would have to do with activities as related to individuals in speculative activities...”* (826-10)

I’m more toned with Vedic astrology. My western chart is Virgo,Scorpio,Capricorn ( sun, moon, rising) and in my Vedic is Virgo,Libra, Sagittarius (sun, moon, rising) which is 100% more accurate for me 😭

My own very limited experience with both has been the the western types seem to go with broad spectrum generalizations, the two Vedic experiences were much more to the point. One astrologer giving me a reading over three days long - including obscure NAMES, of people I wouldn't meet for 20 years. The second astrologer largely echoing the first, in only an hourlong presentation. Names: Sea Otter, Rainbow, Roach. It freaks me out that this is possible. I didn't know you could be scared this deep. I would recommend the vedic over the western, but not all readings are equally good.

I have done a vary close personal look at my own charts in the western / the draconic and the true sidereal systems and although I can say each system seems to have a few hits and misses the true sidereal system has a more spot on and I have drawn this present view based upon the moon in Sagittarius my sun and mercury in Virgo in 2nd house my ascendant my Venus Pluto and Uranus and mars in LEO the western system shows my sun ascendant Venus Pluto and Uranus in Virgo with my moon in Capricorn and my mars in Leo in 12th house my western chart my current position that the sidereal describes me is taken into account the way a Sun sign Virgo with mercury in Virgo in 2nd house normally thinks acts and talks along with the explanations that I've found online that explains how a Sagittarius moon thinks acts talks as well as the 1st house LEO my it has taken me a couple years of vary close study of my own past thoughts values believes vs who I am now the results are that my sidereal chart placements are spot on I'm not an astrologer but anyone who wants to find THERE chart that matches them past present and future will need to spend a year or two doing comparisons of there western / draconic /and true sidereal chart placements in order to pin point there true chart along with its strong and weak areas where they need to work it mite take you years to locate and fix problems I'm a couple years in and I can say the true sidereal system identifies me anyone reading this should print off charts of each and then watch individual videos for each house placement and for each planet placement throughout each chart I've watched some astrologers video 10 times or more trying to match all of the the personality traits to me for example my 1st house ascendant Venus Pluto Uranus and mars in LEO in sidereal vs the western chart my sun ascendant Venus Pluto and Uranus in Virgo how does Pluto or Uranus act in Virgo vs LEO BECAUSE in both charts I have both along with Venus the similarity are vary close in my case when you consider that in sidereal my Sun is still in Virgo but in the 2nd house with mercury not all charts will be hard to pin point but in my case my western chart/ vs my sidereal are vary close in energy in ways of thinking and acting like I stated I looked at each based on my past until the present and it may take several more YEARS to finally have a true grasp anyone who is after quick results are going to be in for disappointment dependent on closeness of two or 3 different chart systems one other note in any normal chart it's not uncommon to see houses that have no planets in them so between my western Vs sidereal I had to look at such house comparisons and if one chart showed no planet but the other did then I resurched videos on that house with planet placement to see if I could recognize that personality traits my charts were vary close

Both of them seem accurate, however, the Vedic system is on point with my face and body appearance. Then again i already knew that my physical appearance was influenced by the moon in my Western Chart.

Traditional western astrology does have timing systems similar though not identical to dashas in Vedic. Also there are other house systems used in Vedic astrology for various purposes. They are less common, but they are there along with alternate ascendants that are clearly spoken to in the classical texts. They even use the tropical zodiac in certain calculations.Similarly there is some notion of divisional charts in traditional western.

Thank you. I started looking into Vedic astrology when I noticed astrologers were describing the nodes moving into different signs. Namely, Libra and Aries v. Taurus and Scorpio, naturally with very different forecasts. It didn't make sense to me that tropical astrologers could speak about a planet being in a constellation/zodiac sign, where it wasn't really located. I was all gung ho about switching to Vedic, when I got an online Vedic chart done up and found I couldn't relate to the rising sign I was placed at. The Vedic compatibility charts I did, however, were extremely accurate. Is it that Western astrologers names for the way they divide the sky are in accordance with the stages of each season? Aries ( beginning of spring,)Taurus, (spring), Gemini (beginning of summer), Leo (summer)... and these characteristics they describe are the characteristics of the portions of the seasons?

Hi Julianne! Thank you for this very informative video! I have a question, as I do study from both as well. I do find that from a surface "personality" standpoint that western astrology fits more. But if you want to look deeper from a more predictive angle, vedic for me, tends to go more in depth. Would you agree to a certain point this is how Western vs. Vedic astrology works (personality vs. predictive)? I have scorpio asc. in western, but vedic is libra. At first it makes no sense. But I find when i study using the appropriate perspectives, they actually work together - much like a dance, than against each other. Do you work in a similar fashion with the two systems in a sort of combination? Or do you work more solely independent for each one? Thank you!

Thank you! Yes, I agree and do look at the two systems from somewhat different perspectives and angles. There isn't an exact correlation between the two, for example, ASC in Scorpio in Western does not equal ASC in Libra in Vedic, though there will be different things in each chart that convey similar information. I also do agree in the personality vs predictive, but it is slightly different for me. Western does show the more superficial/surface aspects of a person and their life, but I also seem to read more psychology with Western. Vedic is deeper spiritually and karmically, and I feel is a little better with looking at timing/predictive. I don't usually use both systems in combination because it can get confusing for the client, especially if they have no or only little understanding of astrology, though I have done a Western and then a Vedic reading for the same client separately, and the feedback is that both ring true in their own ways. Yes, although the two systems are different, they do draw a lot of similarities - which I find compliment each other quite well. I totally understand not sharing both with clients lest they throw out astrology all together lol. Personally, I see the western much as the expression and play of personality, while vedic reveals more the inner desires. For instance in western my moon is sag. and vedic is scorpio. Much of how I feel with the outside world can be philosophical/jovial/somewhat laid back, humorous. Yet on the inside I notice I can get suspicious, or even moody with emotions always running deep where I rather enjoy mulling through my inner stuff and writing it out later. I understand the depth that can be seen in western astrology. This is what makes astrology so awesome, is that this truth really lays in the eyes of the beholder (of course with the proper approach to signs/houses/aspects/nakshatras/divisional charts etc...) I hear so much separation between the two, that western or vedic is the true right way, which led me to see if they can instead connect. For those who get upset because they feel like they have to "choose", it is very refreshing to bring the two together! As per vedic astrology my sun sign is Aquarius in western it's pisces. Moon is same for both that is scorpio. and both sounds good to me because I found most of traits of both astrology are in me. It's important to know your Ascendant/Rising signs to see how the two charts compare better. There are free online calculators you can use, but I also recommend focusing on one system for learning at a time because it can get confusing. 🙏🏼💕

From what I've explored about Ophiuchus, it can add an interesting layer to the chart, especially for Sagittarius, but as a 13th sign, I feel it's a bit of stretch. Not to mention that that doesn't make sense with all the number 12 stuff (math base 12, astrological magic, mysticism, and astrotheology of many cultures and centuries, etc.), which may be why not included. It overlaps it, but I think it also lies mainly outside the zodiac belt. Did you use Ophiuchus when studying Western? 🙏🏼💕

Thank you! The Sun sign isn't used so much as a personal identifier in Vedic as in Western. In Vedic system we identify by our Moon or Ascendant signs, because, in short, these represent our physical selves. In Western the Sun is used, mostly I think because it's easy - you just need to know your month and day of birth (no time and coordinates). ✨

Hi Julianne, Thanks for your great video, it has helped me understand the differences between the two more. I am somewhat confused though. In Western astrology, my Sun is in Cancer and my Asc. is in Sagittarius, however in my sidereal chart, my Sun is in Gemini and my Asc. is Scorpio. When I research descriptions to find a deeper understanding of my Asc/sun and other planets, would I just read both and go with the sign that best fits my personality? Or take traits from both? How does one study both types of zodiac in order to get a clear picture? If that makes sense. Many thanks!

HI Sinead, thank you! The simplest way to look at both for personality for example (though you cold spend hours and hours studying your own charts from both systems to understand yourself) is to use the Sun sign in Western and the Ascendant in Vedic, and also look at the houses and signs that their rulers are in (Moon for W Cancer Sun and Mars for V ASC Scorpio). Studying both at the same time can create a headache though :-) so it may be easier to focus on one system in depth for a while and then look deeper into the other.

So I have a bit of "scientific" question :) I believe that every planet or moon.. affects or have an influence on everyone or everything depends on which is its position in the sky AT THE MOMENT. It is logical. So I don't understand how is it possible, that if at the time of my birth ascendant and sun were actualy in virgo and moon in scorpio (vedic); how come that I have more characteristics of Libra and Sagittarius, which are sun, ascendant and moon in western astrology? I hope my question makes sense :) Thanks!

Yes it makes sense, and it's a great one! As I often say, it's not a one to one correlation between the two systems, i.e. comparing Western Moon to Vedic Moon. There is likely something else in Vedic that shows your resonance with characteristics of Libra and Sag in Western, and it comes down to the differences and nuances of reading the two different charts/systems. For example, I am a Leo Sun in Western and I very much connect to Leo energy. The correlation for me in Vedic is that my Ascendant ruler is in Leo, giving me that strong Leo energy connection. I got a jyotish reading also and it resonated with me, i can't say it was wrong, specialy with future events it was very specific and right :) I would just somehow like to understand this phenomenon, as I always have to also understand things (i guess this IS more my virgo characteristic as libra :D). As you may notice in the comments, the different systems resonate differently for each person, so you have to ask which one, Vedic or Western, do you feel aligns better with your life? However, if I had to pick one for general daily predictions, I'd probably go with Vedic Astrology. 🙏🏼

I'm a little confused about the "whole house system". I was born at 28 degree Libra (Vedic) and 21 degree Scorpio (western). How can my ascendant (fisrt house) be "whole house" if I was born at the end-degree of a sign? I've been studying western astrology for years, and I'm now curious about Vedic. It can be bit confusing when looking at different house systems. As you study Vedic (or one of the Western whole house systems) try to look at it from it's own perspective. (Vedic also has many divisional charts that break down houses further.) It takes practice. For example I studied Vedic much more before I went in depth into Western, and I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that there were usually 2-3 signs within a house. But, once I just viewed Western from it's perspective (sort like Buddhist Beginner's Mind concept) it opened up a whole new fascinating realm of psychological astrology for me. Another thing that may help, is that in Western, Sun sign charts, including all general horoscopes (in newspapers, videos, etc.) have to be done from a whole house perspective because the degrees of everyone's houses are all different. This is why often if one listens to their Rising sign in a general horoscope, things don't make sense, especially if you are born towards the end of the sign. I hope this helps some. Thank you!

If you are reading daily horoscopes in newspapers, on KZbin, etc. they're usually from Western astrology perspective (unless they say they are a Vedic Astrologer), so read for your Western Sun Sagittarius. If you find an online Vedic Astrology daily horoscope, read for your Vedic Moon and/or Rising/Ascendant signs. I hope that helps. 💕🙏🏼

It would only work if in your western birth chart the houses (which are usually different sizes in Western) matched up to the Vedic. Also even though your Sun is in Gemini in both, your Ascendant and Moon signs may still be different.

According to Western astrology I am a sun Pisces but in Vedic, I am an Aquarius. I know that I am not an Aquarius. If both systems are valid, how does one reconcile that major difference? I dimply do not resonate at all with the Vedic natal chart. The western would seem to have it right. Could you comment on that?

In Vedic Astrology one is not labelled by their Sun sign, but the Ascendant sign (or sometimes the Moon sign), so if you listen to Vedic horoscopes Aquarius would not resonate unless that happened to be your Ascendant sign too. For me it's not the one-to-one correlations, such and sun sign compared to to sun sign that show the each system's validity, but very different things (planets, houses, rulership, transits, dashes, etc.) in the charts that convey similar messages. They have to be looked at as a whole package, and each looked at differently.

I believe (will have to research this though) it/Western was developed in the 2nd century AD/CE in Greece - that was when the two systems last coincided. I am planning a Western beginner's book, like my Vedic one, so when completed I will have looked into this reason further. If you are asking about what signs you get along with best, it can get very detailed, but a simple way to look at it is through comparing your Western Sun signs or your Vedic Moon signs. Again this is highly simplified, but signs of the same element, fire for Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo for example, are more likely to get along well.

when going through hundreds of birth charts of prominent people, counting the planets 25 degrees backwards often does not make sense, does not fit to their performance, personality. For example musicians on the stage, fiery characters like Tina Turner, suddenly have all their planets in element water. This cannot be true. Well, they are two different systems of astrology and need to be looked at from different perspectives. So one isn't more correct, but you might resonate with one better. Also, you need to figure out your Rising sign. The time is wrong on one of them because they shouldn't be on opposite signs (Sagittarius and Gemini). They'd only be about 24-25 degrees apart. 🙏🏼

Tropical is a basement astrology that lives in times 2000 years ago. The aspects are the same but the location of planets/energies are the real ones in Siderial. Just look at the skies Western-Siderial IS what it is. I tried both and Tropical for a long time, getting into too many none sense inaccuracies.

I tell you; I tried “forcing” Tropical to work for over 4 years and nothing seem to fit. The reason is clear and has all to do with the real position, energy of Planets that importantly is affected by the Precession. I was born on May 13 which puts me at 28-29 Aries and affect my ascendant from Sag to Scorpio. The transits of critical times in my life and that of others started to fall in into place and make sense. As we move along in time, not our life time; Tropical will make less and less sense. What is the matter with people that live in denial on everything? I wish you as with others that have realized it and turned to see what it is will be wester-Siderial in your videos and talks. Have you read Jonathan Livingston Seagull? I want to learn more from your knowledge.

I prefer to follow the actual position of the stars in the sky- you cannot make something out of what it isn't. If the sun is in Pisces for example, you can't turn around and say no, the Sun is in Aries. The actual position of the stars in the sky doesn't lie and doesn't change like you'd want it to. I thought of myself as an Aries because that's what the tropical system told me my whole life, till I got curious about astronomy and wanted to see my sign on an actual astronomical map- that's when I saw that the sun wasn't actually in Aries, but in Pisces.
