@@rascoehunter3608 I honestly don't think there's anything wrong in diplomatically asking an actor to maintain a certain weight during a production, and suspending filming to help them maintain that weight, if necessary, or shoot around it. After all, films, especially action and superhero films, are based on visuals, and, tbf, Batgirl, like Batman, Robin and Catwoman, is meant to be the pinnacle of fitness. What is NOT remotely acceptable is *mocking* a young, borderline teenage, woman for being 'fat' (not that Alicia was remotely 'fat'), and it's particularly egregious when it's a colleague who you should be able to trust, and he's passing around illustrations to fellow crew members demeaning you that way. Honestly, Alicia Silverstone's Batgiirl looks and acts more like the ORIGINAL Batgirl from the comics. The BETTY KANE version of Batgirl introduced during 1961 who later on during the late 80's became FLAMEBIRD on the Teen Titans. That's what Alicia's Batgirl looks and acts more like: the Betty Kane version of Batgirl. Definitely NOT the more well known Barbara Gordon Batgirl. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Joel Schumacher preferred the Betty Kane version of Batgirl from the early 60's comics (prior to the introduction of the Barbara Gordan Batgirl during 1967) and decided to make the Batgirl in the movie more like the early 60's Betty Kane Batgirl (again, she acts like her and mostly looks like her with the blonde hair that shows and the type of mask she wears most of the time) and he meant to name her Betty Kane (since Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl pretty much is Betty Kane), but someone at WB was very adamant about naming her Barbara, so the end result is the movie version of Batgirl really being Betty Kane in visuals and behavior but named Barbara because someone at WB mandated it. On a side note, Betty Kane was the NIECE of Kathy Kane (the ORIGINAL Red and Yellow Batwoman introduced during the 1950's Batman comics). That's pretty much where for the movie they came up Batgirl being the NIECE of Alfred. A slight modification of the BETTY KANE version of Batgirl for the movie (but renamed Barbara for reasons).

That's not the worst Batgirl. The worst Batgirl is the one found in the New 52 Animated Universe. Introduced at the very end of one movie (Bad Blood), used as a pawn in the next (Hush), and then brutally murdered (JLD: Apoklips War). Three movies and the character is given NOTHING. Heck, I don't even think they even mention she's Barbara Gordon she's just-- THERE. Given no character arc (compared to Damian, Dick, or Bruce) and killed for shock value (amongst others).

Who is this Batgirl? One that both the character and actor got screwed over by almost everyone working on the film. Silverstone definitely deserved better. Also glad you brought up the lack of a cowl. Without it it’s not Batgirl anymore. Just another Robin.

@@Flyboy1953 Bette Kane would have been absolutely perfect for Alicia. She's blonde, like Alicia. She's part-Jewish, like Alicia. Yeah it makes complete sense. In my head-canon, that's who Alicia was playing.

I think the biggest problem was "I was in Clueless and now I'm the Batgirl, how cool!"... She had no mystique about her. The writing didn't help at all...

Like despite the horrific Batman and Robin movie Her presence in the movie just made it that much more uncomfortable

I'm a Batgirl fan and I loved Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl... it was a good movie, meant to be cheesy and fun.

It’s jarring a 90s movie threw in “PC.” I saw it more for the 2010s but never much for something before my time

Well said. Silverstone sure wasn't great in the role, but it was a very badly written role to begin with. And most of the cast is somewhere between equally-bad to mildly competent (with the exceptions of Arnold and Uma, who both clearly know what they're doing and are having a blast doing it). It's such a shame that she got shit on so damn much for having the gall to be in a bad movie.

Apart from Michael Gough, Arnie gives arguably the best performance in the film, despite not being a particularly great actor. Like you say, he knew exactly the tone the film was aiming for, and he just went along with it.

I blame the script writers for giving the actors the most cringe, god awful dialogue to work with.

The worst batgirl would be the one that was so bad that WB threw away the whole thing after wasting lots of money into it tho

Did you forget there WAS another Batgirl in live action, in "Birds of Prey"😊

It’s really bugged me that she was supposed to be born and raised in England but somehow had an American accent.

I hope in next batman movies i hope she appear on big screen as jim Gordons kid

If there’s ever an actual representation of Jim and Barbara Gordon in a film. DC and WB seem to be opposed to putting actual representations of the characters on the big screen and fans aren’t liking it, which is why the recently produced fake Batgirl film was shelved and will never see release.

Why couldn't they give Batgirl a cowl? She looked more like Robin.
@andrewweisneck11027 ай бұрын
She did have a cowl for a second before she took it off and threw it away.

It is true that even Tim Burton’s Batman didn’t have the best friendship with Jim Gordon. Although he was closer to the Gotham city government than in the Joel Schumacher movies.

sad thing is whole move blew, she blew more whats sad is she was closest in age to Batgirl, the best Batgirl was and still is Yvonne Craig who was 29

Batgirl as a character was always kind of cheap. For Robins, it made more sense they could fight crime like Batman because they were trained since they were small kids by him.

well, I was gone in like flashbacks and/or daydreaming while watching the movie Clueless. I still haven't seen batman and robin, even though I owned it on blu ray. Mostly bc i worked a lot of ovovertime alicia was the only reason I wanted to watch batman and robin
