well technically Russians are Finnish. The "Rus" tribe that gave Russia it's namesake is from Finland :)

Are you drunk? Rus initially was Scandinavian tribe who gave their name to Eastern Slavs. Even before this name people in Novgorod (Lullaby of Russia) people called themselves as Slovene. There're many finnic tribes, especially on North (Karels, Chud etc) but they were conquered much later.

Both of you could not be more wrong. 'Russia' comes from Rus of the Scytho-Sarmatian people known as Roxolani. Ethnic Russians descend from these, Krivich and other Slavs, and Finnic Muroma and Merya. Russian culture can be compared with Mordvin culture.

"Even before this name people in Novgorod (Lullaby of Russia) people called themselves as SloVENE."

Ehm what? Do you really can distinguish European-look Finnish from somebody another? Let's do simple challenge, I'll give you few photos of people in Russia, Ukraine, Finland and Czech Republic for instance and you will spot who is who?

Stan with a lot of experience (by having lived in those countrys and looking at the own relatives) i can actually sometimes but not always tell "that must be a finn" - and then it often turns out to be true. Its not 100% - but there are certain facial markers that are typical for finns (not russians who are slavic people, an entire different genomepool) just one example - Finns often have high cheekbones, ladies have often those "cat eyes" (i find that cute) ...mikä häkkinen is a typical example - you would need to search long and hard to find a face like that in russia but over here you find mika häkkinen look alikes in every village.
