@@polarvortex880 I know you believe you eat almost no junk because society has said beans, fruits, grains, etc are not junk...but they *are* when you look at carb content and lack of nutrition compared to animal foods. No plant contains every essential nutrient for humans, no combination of plants will provide them either. This may seem like an attack, but it's just stating facts proven through science. What do you mean when you say "premenstrual"? Do you mean premenopausal? Or have you lost your periods?

My wife of 30 years at the time tried to do a strict vegan diet. Within a year her menstruation stopped so her doctor told her to start eating animal foods again like eggs and fish. When she went back to omnivore her menstruation returned and we had one more child.

To anyone who is malnourished, it will happen. Which was the case here. Calories in vs calories out is just a myth by the way. I never count calories, but eat real and clean food. My bloodwork was really good this month.

I doubt she was under-eating. My wife was very particular with her diet and even hired a vegan nutritionist to help set up her daily meals. She did not fast and in fact ate often in between her three meals as her vegan diet kept her hungry all the time.

@@poetsguide Biodiversity, DNA, passed down genetics HAVE to be factored into a persons thought process, prior to eating strictly plant based or all fruit diet. I.e. what did her ancestors before her eat? Which part of the world did her heredity live in? So-called African Americans (as I am labeled🙄) have different enzymes, organ function, gastric function, bone mineral density, cellular structure, ATP production, vaginal microbiome differences, and the list goes on.

@@poetsguide Point being, eating a plant based diet shouldn't be sold in typical marketing fashion... In all simplicity, "it ain't for every body." Pun intended. I've been successful subscribed to an all vegetable but MOSTLY fruit diet for a decade now, and @ the age of 40, I've noticed no drop off in energy since I started, I actually have about the same energy I had at 30, no gray hair, and I'm still lean and hear that I look 28.... Can't say the same for friends and family (brothers and sisters included) that don't adhere to the lifestyle I choose.... Multiple factors play into that though. 🤷🏾‍♂️✌🏽

I did a vegan diet for 3 months. My A1C was 5.2 and LDL was 91 and Trig was 94. Lowest the numbers have ever been. I had the best results on the vegan diet... Highest calcium, highest protein... you name it.....When I say Vegan I mean Whole foods Plant Based. Chia seeds, flax seeds, oat meal, lentils, beans, real foods not pastries and fake ass fast food.... Quality matters more than the diet you do if you eat highly processed foods you are going to have terrible results vegan or not...

I have a vegan friend who poo poo's my mainly carnivore diet even tho i reversed metabolic syndrome and lost 60lbs and just look miles better.. ive asked her to get some blood tests done then we can compare and then Id take her diet more seriously... that was 3 years ago and Im still waiting.

I have a vegan friend who just can't understand why she's prediabetic because she eats almost strictly vegetables. I told her I reversed my own prediabetes with the carnivore diet and she has no interest. She's now taking a weight loss drug from Big Pharma. Imagine rather taking a drug with side effects than eating a whole food, meat based diet.

Yep it’s neither. Although Carnivore promotes eating animal foods, they avoids anything with sugar. Vegans avoid honey because it’s an animal food.

If I ate nothing but white sugar and white flour and white rice, you could say that I was following a vegan diet. But nobody would say that's a healthful diet. Why don't you present the results of someone who has followed a whole-food plant-based (WFPB) diet for two years?

30 years old omnivore male, exercises 3 times a week, my diet is mostly animal based. Blood tested 2 days ago: Triglycerides 59mg/dl HDL 50 LDL 77 RATIO 1.5 My doctor could not believe it.

@@VanillaAttila​​⁠I agree. My Total Cholesterol is usually lowish 145-160 regardless of my diet-more directly related to my weight. And my HDL is between 49-55. Usually the TC goes up with weight and HDL and LDL follow. But if someone’s LDL is low I don’t see why HDL needs to be so high.🤷🏻‍♀️

@@ralphmartinez8616 i wish it were that easy.. they have more power over decision making and policy making entities. Looking after one's health is an uphill never ending battle. At the risk of sounding dramatic I feel like I'm under attack. Friends, family, my own doctor.. they all come for me when my diet is being discussed. Suddenly everyone I know is an expert on human beings and diet and doesnt matter what I say or what facts I bring up... I'm told "thats not right.. thats not true.. that cant be right" and when i had the energy to try to help them understand.... id make a point and id get "but....." and it would never end.

Not really comparing them, they seem to be just examples toward understanding thought processes necessary toward doing due diligence assessment. He is just scratching the surface of comprehensive lab work assessment, yet some commenters think he is trying to do RCT research!

Spent a year vegan and two years no red meat. Was taking an iron supplement which I thought had me covered. Turns out all the iron supplements on the market are non heme which has 2% absorption. My ferritin crashed and tsh rose. I put on weight. I spent most nights with bloating and gas trying to digest legumes. My libido tanked and I became depressed. You simply can't be a menstruating woman with no heme iron going on. AND I was doing lectin free, gluten free vegan. However, I still enjoy hemp protein protein powder despite going back to meat, I find it agrees with me.

@@drabnail777herbivores like goats and cows have different digestive systems that can break down plant matter better than humans. We humans are omnivores, with digestive systems similar to dogs and wolfs so it’s better to get your iron from meat.

I was vegetarian for ten and vegan for two years and lost many of my teeth as a result. Now I’m on a high animal food diet with sea salt and spring water, practically no vegetables, no breads, grains and flour products, and little fruit. For the record ... I eat lots of real milk (fresh, aka ‘raw’), cream, yogurt, kefir, eggs, wild caught fish, beef, bacon, butter, chicken, olive oil and sometimes avocados.

I followed a paleo style diet for 10 years. I also tried Keto when my health began to decline. What I experienced during this time period was weight gain, severe insomnia, heart arrhythmia, elevated cholesterol, chronic pain, hypothyroidism, and anemia. Against what I thought was my better judgment and at the end of my rope with trying everything, I tried a high carb/low fat diet and I have never felt better. I’m not sure where this will lead me and I’m not sure that this is for everyone, but I do know that ALL of the issues that i experienced for nearly 10 years have been completely resolved. For reference, I ate, meat/fish/eggs at least 2x daily, moderate fat, at least a pound of veggies a day, very little added sugar, I took high quality supplements and exercised regularly. What I am learning is that there is no one diet for everyone at every point in their lives. I still struggle with being ok with the amount of carbs I eat in a day, but my energy levels, clarity of mind, blood work and sleep quality keep me committed, for now. It’s been 6 months and I will continue to monitor.

All fruit (mostly berries), whole grains, lots of beans(I had to work up to this), potatoes, and lots of non starchy veggies (crucifers, leafy greens, etc). Again, this is what is working for me, right now. I have done some research-what I find is that you can find a valid study to prove many diets optimal. I think this all points to the unique needs of individuals. There are some foundations that are universal, but after that it’s all experimental.

My mom is not statistically significant or peer reviewed but her experience has had real significance among her circle of friends and family. 3 years ago, my 84 year old mother finally had a follow up appointment with her physician which was delayed for months because her doctor has been in charge of treating Covid patients in the hospital and in nursing homes and was not able to meet with her. She had a full blood panel taken for this visit and her doctor was astounded at the progress she had made during the last year. She is now no longer diabetic and she was instructed to stop taking insulin after having been on it for 12 years. Her doctor also praised her kidney function which has never looked better. Also, she couldn't believe that her total cholesterol was only 139, with LDL of 67, HDL of 60, and triglycerides of 82 which is a big improvement for her. According to the Framingham Heart Study, these numbers mean that she is virtually "heart attack proof" as many plant based doctors have noted. Her physician (Johns Hopkins med school grad) mentioned that she is reconsidering the diet for her family based on this experience. She also asked my mom to share her experience with our community after the pandemic. All of these results are exactly what I had hoped would occur. Below is a typical day of eating for her. I plugged her bloodwork test values into the Levine Biological Age Calculator (Yale) and she has aged minus 18 years during the last 4 years. I joke with her that she may be required to give up her Social Security benefits if she keeps going like that. She was able to get off of all blood pressure medications after 3 years, tapering off so as not to over-medicate which is dangerous because it can deprive tissues of necessary oxygen and nutrients. My understanding is that low carb diets are a workaround that do not address the root cause of diabetes which is excess intramyocellular lipids (also fatty liver/pancreas) and the resulting insulin resistance. Excess saturated fats and refined sugar/flour are the most common cause of this metabolic system failure. Unless a person can eat whole food complex carbs again without a prolonged spiking of their blood sugar, type 2 diabetes has not been reversed. Here is the menu for a typical day: Breakfast: Organic steel cut oats with some buckwheat and wild blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, tablespoon of ground flax and ground chia seeds, tablespoon of hemp seeds, organic soy milk, Ceylon cinnamon. Lunch: Green smoothie heavy on the low-oxalate greens (frozen kale or collard greens, frozen pineapple, banana, orange, lemon wedge with rind, organic soy milk, avocado sliver, amla powder, dulse flakes, apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, nutritional yeast, small scoop of hemp protein powder, fresh ginger, medjool date, fresh kale) with a small handful of almonds and walnuts - or - some soup and salad. Before dinner snack: one apple. Dinner: Variety of simple meals including spaghetti, chili, vegetable soup with beans, lintel miso soup with organic tofu cubes/onions/mushrooms/kale, split pea soup with onions/mushrooms/carrots/celery/potato, roasted vegetables (squash/carrots/potatoes), rice and beans bowl with onions/mushrooms/kale/peppers/salsa, organic tofu scramble with onions/mushrooms/peppers/kale/turmeric/nutritional yeast, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, etc. Dessert: frozen banana whip with papaya or strawberries topped some days with a couple of macadamia nuts or a Brazil nut - or - some red grapes. Make sure to include G-Bombs every day for optimal immune system (i.e. - greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds). Avoid most processed foods. Include tofu perhaps twice a week but not more. Stop eating after an early dinner except for a few pistachios before bedtime. Good luck and good health to you and your family!

I tried the vegan thing back in the day. After 3 months or so, I didn't feel good. I felt very tired and had no energy. I was also using the bathroom 3 times a day and farting all the time. My coworkers hated me. I would not recommend this diet to anyone.

That's because there is some issue with all plant foods. Some people clear toxins better than others, that's all. If you can take the, enjoy, but I don't see any health benefits to any plants.

It's a bit of a bummer that you compared males of group 2 and females of group 1 only, and also did not disclose _smoker status,_ w.r.t. anaemia. I've been vegan for 20 years now. A couple years ago I had the last bloodwork done, while no one looked at it through your lens, the regular physician basically laughted at me for worrying. Iron, liver were fine, nothing else seemed noteworthy to her either. Since I eat higher carb stuff only a _few times a year_ for special occasions, that aspect should also be ok although I don't have the numbers anymore - just because vegan-version-of-SAD-eaters typically screw that one up does not mean one _has to_ ;) It's curious that people are still operating with that "heme vs. non-heme iron" dichotomy. Some years ago a German nutrition prof I saw in an interview told about new findings about a 3rd kind of iron in legumes, which does not have decreased absorbtion by presence of polyphenols or phytate. Alas, I don't recall the name of it. _Folate_ supplement for the vegan client? That seems odd. Some dark greens & legumes have plenty.

We are told that plants contain vitamin A when they actually contain carotenoids that have to be converted to vitamin A and many people convert poorly or almost not at all. Unfortunately, we are also told that some plants contain folate, which is technically supposed to indicate active folate, when in reality many plants contain folic acid, which again can convert very poorly. Folic acid is often fortified in many plant based foods, so many people are indeed supplementing folic acid even if they do not realise it. It appears to be rare for folate to be fortified in plant foods. At least some plants do actually contain folate, whereas the same is not true for vitamin A. Some people (maybe those with MTHFR) may not get enough folate from plants and they may convert folic acid so poorly that it causes problems for them due to buildup.

@@trail.blazer On average, those eating the standard American diet are deficient in folate (among other nutrients), and eating a plant-based diet typically provides higher levels of most nutrients, including folate. Folate is found in dark green leafy vegetables, red lentils, ground flax seeds, and beans. Conversion of folic acid is poor, that is why you should eat vegetables mentioned and others like chickpeas and more to get pure folate instead.

One other thing you have to take into account when looking at hemoglobin or iron is that females are more prone to iron deficiency due to our cycles. We cycle off iron every month, whereas males DO NOT. This is exactly why I went back to eating red meat. I noticed a huge improvement in anxiety and mood regulation once I did. As woman, we have to be more cautious on a vegan diet as our cycles don't allow us to get away with the lack of iron overtime.

This is so sloppy, it's difficult to watch. So many assumptions and loose associations. Like we all know that the majority of the least healthy foods are vegan. Really? There are vegan donuts, but they are labeled vegan donuts because most donuts are not vegan. Those vegans who are eating lots of unhealthy foods will be unhealthy just like all the millions of people out there eating an omnivorous diet, consuming all those least healthy foods in addition to the other standard fare. And the blood test, was taken after adding whipped cream to her Matcha Latte. So, that's considered a vegan's blood test results? Whipped cream will def. negatively impact HbA1c. I've been on both ends of this, and had the absolute worse blood lipid tests of my entire life while eating a low-carb, higher fat, and keto style diet. There are so many studies available showing impressive results from eating a well-planned, healthy whole foods, plant-based diet. Clearly those studies get ignored here. And comparing a menstruating woman to a male athlete???? Sorry to see how many followers find this helpful and informative. I hope people learn to be more discerning.

I have been eating a low fat high fruit 75% plant based diet for 13 years, many of which I was strictly plant based. My fasting blood sugar is always in the low 80s. My A1C last time I checked was 4.7. That’s with added white sugar to my diet. But I eat fat always at the last meal of my day and rarely go over 40g. Keep in mind I make sure to get in at least 2000 calories from fruit, white rice and potatoes, with fruit being most dominant.

Did the vegan thing back in the 80. The big vegan lie was you could eat cheap and healthy. Did all the combinations. No fast food as my budget did not allow for wasting money. Results. I am sure that is when the gluten intolerance which I had since age 5 and was not diagnosed until 48, became worse. Had PMS for the first time in my life. Could not control my temper even though I knew it was unreasonable. My morning body temperature went from normal to 94. Took 10 years of low carb to fix the problem. I gained weight. Fast. Mostly in the gut. Took going low carb at 52 to get rid of the gut that made me look pregnant.

I've been(flexible) vegetarian for about seven month now. All the bloating and swelling I was having has gone away, and my digestive health has improved greatly. I'm not having nightmares and my anxiety disorder is much more manageable. However I say I am flexible vegetarian because me and my husband like to travel and sometimes the vegan or vegetarian is 1) not available 2) lacking in nutritional diversity. I'm ok with consuming chicken or beef based broth/bone broth or fish if I need to to fill nutritional gaps only if I HAVE to. I usually have everything I personally need to meet all my micronutrient requirements like seaweeds, algeas, sea moss, different types of organic cocoa all of these plus a variety of fruits and Veges, cheese on occasion, and a variety of wild herbs give me iron, copper, magnesium, vitamin C, B12, b6 and etc. This works for me. I think it's important to consider individual ethnic groups when talking about the proper diet for optimal nutrition. My people come from the carribean and coasts of Africa where there is a year round wide variety of fruits and herbs and fish so that would be the best diet for me. However if I happen to be somewhere where my normal dietary needs aren't available, I need to eat what's available to me and I will consume meat in small amounts or meat based broth but only if I need to.

Hi Mike, According to you, I’ve been anemic for years. I had a good doctor in my 20’s, and she diagnosed me with anemia. And she advised me to eat meat and she gave me vitamins which helped a lot. Unfortunately, I moved to a different state, so I could no longer see her. So over the past 40 years I’ve gone to different doctors because I’ve been exhausted, and I had trouble breathing and heart arrhythmias especially when having to wear a mask, and guess what? They said I’m fine with a ferritin of 12, iron saturation of 11. So I went to a different doctor and started supplementing with iron. Then a year later, my ferritin was 23, and that’s all they checked. I’ve also told doctors that when I have to give blood, afterwards, I am more exhausted for at least a month. They have have dismissed my experience. Anyway Mike, thank you 🙏 for your videos because there are a lot of doctors out there who are only interested in giving you prescriptions for cholesterol and diabetes. There are a lot of incompetent doctors who are causing harm instead of helping people. Fortunately, I found Dr. Stephen Sinatra years ago and started following his advice from his books. Unfortunately, I still have to see various doctors who shockingly tell me I’m fine when it comes to my iron.

Frankly, the best argument for vegan or near-vegan diets is the longevity and low body-fat of populations which traditionally ate high-carb, high-fiber, low animal product diets. Nothing is absolute, of course. It may well be that, with modern science, we can tailor an optimal omnivorous or even carnivore diet for humans.

I do not eat beef but do eat other animal protein & also eat alot whole food plants...no ultra processed food. My A1C last month was 5.2 & Tri 89. My other labs are all good. I do cardio & resistance training 5x a wk. In my 60's & feel great..lots of energy.

I've been avoiding dairy and only eat veggies and meat, but my blood work stated my calcium levels were beyond normal, and it was because I ate a ton of chia, chard and rhubarb. First I though calcium in the blood is probably not bad for me, but then it took over my life with fatigue, sleeplessness and lack of libido. I have since changed my diet and now feel much much better

@@elloohno1349 Oxalates are not an issue because your body does not absorb them they bind to calcium in the gut and are excreted. They do not cause kidney damage unless your body is acidic. Acidity does come from dairy (the sulfur compounds in milk has to be filtered by the kidneys) and from amino acid breakdown of animal flesh. Both of these make the blood more acidic which makes the body have to compensate. We are herbivores plan and simple. Plant "toxins" are not made to fight against mammals, they exist to kill insects. This is because plants and insects have been at war for billions of years longer than mammals have existed. And mammals do not decimate an entire plant. Herbivores also have a symbiotic relationship with plants as we poop out their seeds with a nice plop of fertilizer to go with it.

I can show you an example of people with iron overload on meat eating diets, which can lead to way more health problems than iron deficiency. There are plants that are loaded with iron. Very interesting clarification of thought processes in lab work assessment in a few youngish folk. I'd love to see similar knowledgable assessment of older individuals with comparisons of different lifestyle, meds, etc. And, We all have accumulated significant body burdens of the toxic metal lead in our bones, that can mobilize back into soft tissue along with the calcium from bone stores when the body come under stresses of old age, illness, or pregnancy. This has a very large impact on health parameters in many physiologic systems, that really should be far better assessed, accounted for in medical treatment opportunities that just do not seem very well covered by the medical paradigm currently. There is so much we can do to learn about that can lead to better health outcomes in this extremely complex system of physiology we live in. I applaud such dedication toward finding better pathways into the future! Onward, and upward with understanding the complexities inherent in providing better knowledge to help guide the future choices of our grandchildren! There are so many dedicated medical heroes in this work that are still diligent in spite of the devastating pressures placed within the current medical paradigm toward censoring their efforts.

Everyone in these comments presenting all of these non-scientific anecdotes against eating a plant based diet really don’t know what they are talking about unfortunately. Any diet needs to be well planned and researched. And in this case, the research for many decades has always been that a whole-food plant based diet is the best for overall human health and the only diet that has ever been proven to prevent and reverse the #1 killer in the US: Heart disease.

Vegan is not a diet! It is a broad classification that includes french fries and oreos. It is meaningless to look at the labs of people who consume junk food. I want to see a comparison of people who follow whole foods plant based diets- real whole foods that we are meant to consume- with people who eat animal product heavy diets. My health groups found the one thing that differed with men and women was optimal iron panel numbers. That said, never been vegan or vegetarian, but have had low iron across the board since I was young. Still struggling with it, even with taking desiccated liver pills and iron pills, with Vitamin C... and I eat red meat a few times a week. XD Just... won't stay up. All the while hemoglobin and RBC stays in range and doctors don't give a crap because of that. *sigh* Considering trying full carnivore diet after we get our new house (so food storage and a good kitchen for fixing it) and see if that helps, because Keto isn't really enough apparently.

@@jamiewilson1532 B12 is optimal (800+ in range) and I take a fair bit of Methylfolate by itself, plus take a B-Complex with both in it as well. XD Iron's been a problem, because if I supplement too much, it goes high ferritin, low serum, which is a marker for inflammation levels. But it's hard to figure out the source of the inflammation.

These results are representing progression of deterioration heading towards cancer. Anemia is integral part of cancer diagnosis. Most likely they have cancer already in early stages as it is very slow development process.

Wait,...you are comparing Vegans who eat a lot junk food. i.e. breads and cookies, etc. to someone who eats an optimal omnivore diet,. Yes, a lot of junk foods can be eaten by vegans, but not optimally. Further, these foods are not "plant based". The OPTIMAL "plant based" vegan diet is someone who eats mostly (carrots, broccoli, kale, spinach, cauliflower, nuts, etc.). But, these are not the subjects you started with..?? So your vegan comparisons subjects were flawed from the start. That’s where I’m at. Before I figured out a sustainable diet for me, if I felt depleted or lethargic I’d have salmon or steak. Once a week first, then once a month, then not at all. After I got covid, I relied on meat to gain back my strength quickly. True, I treat meat as medicine for when life circumstances signal me I need the extra boost. With my daily diet based on lentils, tofu, quinoa, tons of veggies, and regular exercise, I normally feel amazing.

Just putting it out there. Ive been carnivore for 12 months. I still have chronic facial inflammation - red, blotchy and embarrassing (i look like i drink too much alcohol - i dont drink alcohol). Any advice greatly appreciated.

Just a comment off the cuff: 'carnivore' is still subject to food quality details that can be far less than optimal. One carnivore could be eating low quality foods that are 'carnivore', but quality can be very low, contributing toward causing lots of medical problems. Another carnivore, can be eating much higher quality foods, and less likely to have problems. as with all diets, quality is difficult to attain, and often very expensive. Due diligence is a difficult, time consuming process, toxic contents need careful assessment, and it is easy to overlook important details. Strive for quality foods, whatever diet you are engaging in.

When I was menstruating I was always anemic. I ate live once a week. I ate a lot of meat. I even did Atkins. I was still anemic. What is your explanation for remaining anemic?

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.. I don’t eat any form of sugar, my carbs under 20 grams a day, I eat beef, wild caught fish and eggs most days and I cannot get my hemoglobin up. I’ve been anemic for six months now even being on a good hemi iron and now I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.they said my FA1C went from 4.8 to 6.4 in 6 months 🤦🏼‍♀️ I lift every day and make sure I get my 10,000 steps in .. what in the world is going on, I’m so confused

That is very odd. Do you check your blood sugar regularly? Or even better, get a CGM? The CGM would tell you what is raising your blood sugar. By any chance have you had covid lately? A friend of mine had really bad blood sugar problems during the time she had long COVID. Her gluconeogenesis was running wild raising her blood sugars too much.

@@davepeterschmidt5818 I do check my blood sugars often, they are pretty good, it’s just my A1C that keeps coming up high..I’m definitely getting a CGM.. I have been in the hospital lately because of a UC/Crohn’s s flare so I’m always feeling rough, I wouldn’t even known if I had Covid 🤦🏼‍♀️

If iron was low, it might be SIBO. Gut problems may prohibit you to digest enough iron, and that may lead to anemia.

@@ernesthader1109 I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️ my blood sugars have been staying around 80 and around 100 after I eat.. but I have had my A1c checked every month for the last four months and as of last week, I am at 6.5., I started at 4.3 🤦🏼‍♀️I have no idea what’s happening

Not vegan. You would think that vegans could do things like keeping vitamin c adequate to keep iron levels high enough. Some vegans still do have iron overload.

The combo of elevated RBC count paired with the low MCV & MCH are what's most alarming imo. Microcytic/hypochromic RBCs are a hallmark of iron deficiency, but their kidneys are functioning normal, as they are generating enough EPO (stimulates RBC generation) to have rbc levels that high. A clear sign that their bodies are under duress from inadequate oxygen storage- no surprise that they have no stamina for a workout, even before factoring other things like protein & essential AA consumption. Their iron storage has been totally depleted.

all anecdotal, I could pull omnivores results and find similar results that make it look bad. Actual studies have found there is little to no difference. This guy always goes back to studies from decades ago when nutrition information on plant-based eating was essentially zero.

Does the second client have thalassemia? I wish you had shown the morphology from the RBCs, as it gives you a much clearer picture of the type of anemia (extrinsic versus intrinsic). My wife has Cooley's and an MCV, just shy of that value.

Surely my vegan diet cannot support such a large aerobic capacity and they are testing anomalies. Of course, you may just consider this as nothing but anecdotal evidence. This channel is losing so much credibility. “Vegan diet” does not explain anything. You can eat Oreos all day and be on a vegan diet. What is this woman actually eating? Is she consuming plenty of greens, beans, and legumes combined with a source of vitamin C to address the iron issues? Overall, is she eating a varied Whole Foods plant based diet? If not, why is that not the first intervention to address the nutritional deficiencies? Aka adding more variety and nutrient dense whole plant foods to the diet. Why immediately go to adding animal product as if they are some kind of magical cure? This “breakdown” is so misleading and the author just refuses to acknowledge the literature on WFPB diets and to try interventions within the WFPB diet. And as many people in the comments stated, this is anecdotal evidence- you need to compare omnis with people who consumes a WFPB diet to see who fared better. Rant over

I recently discovered that I’m severely anemic (hgb 7.2, low MCV/MCHC, high RDW). I have received 2 units of blood and 2 iron infusions. My hgb has only increased to 10.9 (over 2 wks). I have one additional iron infusion prior to having laparoscopic surgery for possible endometriosis (w/bowel involvement causing blood loss). I eat a heavy meat low carb diet and resistance train 3x/wk for 90 min and try to keep my step count up. I take Vit k2/d3, omega 3, b12/folate, magnesium, electrolytes, DIM, Myo Relax & Calm (most from Myoxcience). I also take compounded thyroid hormone for hypothyroidism and LDN for unspecified autoimmunity of my gut. I reached my goal weight 2 years ago and started focusing on resistance training to increase muscle mass but after moving to a new house my health fell apart and I have regained 35# despite doing all the “right” things. I take creatine and eat meat and my creatinine is also very low.

@@elloohno1349 Thanks for your input. I’m curious as to what made you think of mold as a possibility. My home was brand new when my family moved in so there was no history of water damage or possibility of poorly done renovations that could hide an existing problem.

@@alefept it was mostly because you seem to have so many basis covered, that I thought possibly the different environment could be a culprit? I've seen that people have issues but i really don't know much about it. I would suggest maybe checking Stephanie Keto Person, she knows her dietary/bloodwork stuff. (Maybe there is an interaction between some of your medications or something, another guess.. ) Hope you come right.
