Hey... Question. How does the Aquafaba work as a egg white substitute? I've been doing a lot of roasted chick peas for snacks. I want to know how to use the water left after cooking the chick peas. (Apparently corn is a little bad for diabetes so roasted corn nuts are out.) Also you've been doing a lot of the sweet side of snacks please try a little of the savory snack stuff... (spicy roasted chick peas are great.)

Yes! I have a roasted chickpea recipe on the blog and I use it to garnish a carrot ginger soup! That recipe doesn’t get super crunchy because it’s spiced with miso which adds moisture so I’ll likely get another crunchy roasted chickpea recipe out soon. I tend to only use aquafaba from chickpeas I cook myself in my hummus. It’s usually a little thinner than aquafaba from canned chickpeas so it might not work as well as an egg white substitute. If you want to use aquafaba from chickpeas you’ve cooked yourself I would actually suggest reducing the aquafaba by about half (so simmer it in a pot on the stove until about half of the moisture has evaporated and the aquafaba is thicker. Let that cool and then whip it to make an egg white substitute in your baking, store it in the fridge for a few days, or apparently you can freeze it too but I haven’t tried that). I haven’t used aquafaba very much but there are many recipes online and so many great ways to use it!

@@TastyThriftyTimely I use my air fryer for my chick peas. I was looking for 'movie snack' type stuff since chips got removed from regular rotation.

@@Lordmaniax357 ah ya. Have you tried seasoning popcorn to make it more exciting? A little bit of butter is usually needed to make seasonings stick but I’m usually a purist with popcorn anyway and love it pretty plain 😄
@Lordmaniax357 Жыл бұрын
@@TastyThriftyTimely I don't mind popcorn but it's one of those things I have to be in the mood for. I'm also a "little salt and butter" guy. LOL! If I want fancy I buy the "white cheddar" style from the store for the amount of popcorn I eat. I like the roasted chip peas because you can make a big batch ad store them for hen you want a snack and don't want a whole production. LOL! 🙂
