the ikea vegan hot dogs are amazing when they’re done the right way. You have to make them the way they’re done in store with a bun, spicy mustard, pickled cabbage and fried onion, it’s soooo good!!!

I really urge you to try the veggie hotdog at IKEA, it is so tasty! It is served with red pickled cabbage, mustard and fried onions, at least that is how it is served at IKEA in Denmark :) The cardamom crisps are good with loads of vegan butter.

YES! The loaded veggie dog from them is a pregnancy favorite right now! I always get two with a cola slushy. I have never bought just the dogs since I have also thought they would not be good served any other way than how Ikea does it.

The vegetable balls came out years ago, they used to have a different name. Then the plant balls came last year. I guess the reason they sell both is because some people prefer veggie-based products to the more meat-like products. I also agree with other people saying the hot dogs need to be eaten @ IKEA with bun and toppings x

I like the veggie dogs, but not on it's own. In a good bun and with sauces you like and fried onions on top that's good enough for me. I prefer the vegan meatballs over the veggie balls, they're perfect. Crusty on the outside, soft in the inside. Those are perfect for asian «pork meatball» receipes, with a sweet and sour BBQ sauce, always have one or two bags in my freezer. :3

Those are my favourite vegan meatballs to ever exist. I always have them in my house. The veggie dogs are good only if served like they do at their restaurant (with mustard, pickled red cabbage and fried onions). I live in Europe I don't know if it's the same in the US.

I can speak for Canada, and say that, they do sell the veggie dogs at the café, dressed with pickled red cabbage and fried onions, and one has to add mustard, which I do. They are absolutely delicious and a favourite treat to have at IKEA, for my once-in-a-blue-moon visit. I’m going to check out those meatballs next time.

Yes, they sell the veggie dogs in the US with all the same fixings. Sort of sad Lauren didn’t try it that way so people can know about a good cheap vegan meal. The toppings make them for sure. Also, the price is great. A meal under a $2.

Yes! Vegan Swedish meatballs! I think about trying to figure out how to make them every time I go to IKEA. I like the hot dogs. When you buy them there, they come with a sweet mustard, red cabbage and the little crispy onions. I also like the veggie meatballs. Both of those you just have to remember they're not trying to be like a hot dog or meatballs. You have to let them be their own thing. I also like the bottle oat smoothie things, but they didn't have any in the marketplace last time I was there. I'm sure they are being affected by all the production and distribution difficulties everybody else is.

the gravy your supposed to eat with meatballs (and mash) is: cream, soy sauce, a tiny bit of jam (preferably lingonberry jam) salt, pepper and veg stock cubes. best sauce ever.

Next time you are at IKEA get the dressed veggie dog to go! It is sooooo good! Even meat eaters line up to get it! It’s dressed with a Dijon mustard, red cabbage and crispy onions!

Here in Switzerland you can actually eat the meals with both the veggies balls and pea protein balls. As a vegan that do not like the taste of meat I much prefer the veggie ones

They used to only have the veggie balls, as I understand. The other balls must be a new addition. I used to go to ikea to just buy the veggie balls, and eat them with gravy and mashed potatoes. I’ll have to go and try the new balls.

wal-mart also sells vegan caviar. Tip -add a bit of seaweed to up the sea flavor that mimics the real thing. Great for topping on a party appitizer. 🙂

The meatballs are insane. So good! The hotdogs are also amazing. I'm so surprised you didn't like them. You should try it again and update us when you do the gravy video. I hate the vegetable balls. They are in no way like the hotdog. Way worse. The hotdogs are ret lentils and kale. The vegetable balls are with peas and corn I think. Ugh... Great video! :)

I know people who love that hot dog, especially my bf loooooooves it and orders like 3 when he goes and he's a die-hard meat eater. It really is something with the mustard and the pickled cabbage that makes it *chefs kiss*. I can see how without those things it would be a bit dry and bland

Just adding to the support of the hot dogs. They are TOPS when eaten on a bun with sauerkraut and the onion crumbly thingys with mustard. Also, the gravy mix is vegan I think- just don’t add the cream, or make your own cashew cream to add. Killiuuhhhh!

They're dry bread basically, a way to preserve it from back in the day when a lot of people were poor. You usually dip them in something warm or have them with cream cheese or butter.

In the cafeteria at the Indianapolis store I went to last month both meatballs were listed as having dairy and that was confirmed by an employee. Really disappointing. I don’t know about the frozen items but I would assume it’s the same meatballs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@hotforfood Maybe it’s that particular location’s cafeteria offerings. I didn’t look at the frozen ones. It didn’t make any sense since they were vegan before but they had placards saying contains (not may) dairy and the worker said the fries and something else I can’t remember were the only vegan options. Now that I think about it I should have asked a manager to confirm. It really sucked for us two vegans watching the vegetarian get to eat. 😄

i like the „meat“ balls (frozen). they are really nice but very very oily. not ideal for sauces though (dont know why, ive tried to serve them in tomato sauce, they completely lost their flavour). the veggie balls are tasting kinda funny, wasnt a fan.
