Yeah I'm Chinese living in Canada, I've been a vegetarian since 14, and now I'm trying to stay as vegan as possible. (Dunno if it makes sense haha but I'm getting there!) I definitely feel like my Chinese friends (especially those who live in China) and my Chinese parents make more negative comments toward this subject than my western friends do. It's way harder to find vegan stuff in like a 'traditional' Chinese restaurant as well :/ Oh and btw we do have black bean noodles in China (especially popular in Beijing) it's a bit different from the Korean ones tho, it's mainly salty rather than sweet, the colour is lighter as well. At home we use chopped up fried bean curds (the puff-like thingy) as a pork substitute to make black bean noodles and it tastes amazing!! :)
@joy73674 жыл бұрын
l did the same "as vegan as possible" thing when I started to go vegan ! I think it's one thing that could really help veganism. Instead of presenting it as an all or nothing thing, we should encourage people to do their best.

i'm not korean, i'm chinese, but i wanna share anyways haha. i go to taiwan every summer and oh my god, whenever we would go out to eat with family friends/family, the topic of me being vegan ALWAYS comes up. they constantly question me (and my uncle shoots me dirty looks IN A JOKING MANNER THOUGH haha) asking why i'm not eating meat or eggs + they think it's really weird. they always say that i'm depriving myself of "good" food, but i'm always like "i can have AMAZING food without hurting my friends so" typically in taiwan, it's mainly monks who follow a vegan/vegetarian diet so yeah... i'm gonna being studying abroad in korea next fall so i'm really curious as to what will happen (and also sorta dreading) haha
@Pandemily8 жыл бұрын
okay i'm not sure if you know this... but um, taiwan isn't in china. taiwan is a country near china, but not IN china. i'm letting you know just in case you didn't know before. but i have been going to china for the past couple of summers... i just don't know how i would help because i speak mandarin and so it's easier for me to order vegan dishes... yeah. i would HIGHLY recommend you learn some chinese phrases before going because in beijing at least... it's not very vegan friendly unless you specifically GO to a vegetarian/vegan restaurant which i don't do since my family isn't vegan. if you wanna order vegan dishes in a typical chinese restaurant, the veggie dishes are ALMOST always vegan, but i would ask just in case. there's no dish that is always vegan because some restaurants may make it differently than others... uh yeah that and i don't really know how to translate it into english, I only know the names of the dishes in mandarin.

I live in Korea and eating out as a vegan is difficult at times. I usually have to make veganized Korean food at home :/ but there are a couple vegan restaurants. Loving Hut is the best vegan restaurant everrrrr. The food is amazing and they sell a bunch of meat/dairy substitutes, random vegan cooking ingredients, and vegan ramen!!! There's also a vegan festival in Seoul every year and it's amazing.

Okay. I just made it. Thanks for your comments about too much oil, I remembered I could fix it ALL without ANY oil -- after learning last year after heart failure that I could not eat oil anymore but that you can saute just about anything in WATER and it comes out good -- who knew?!! And that is what I did, put a little bit of water water -- maybe 4 TBL -- into a saucepan, added some grated ginger and garlic to the recipe which I put in at the very beginning, then added the onions and cooked a while, adding a little more water, then added the potatoes and zucchini, and just added water without need for measuring, meanwhile cooking the Korean noodles. I added 1/3 cup fermented black bean paste and some more water and kept it cooking until the potato bits were clearly done enough. Oh, but I DID add about a teaspoon or so of toasted sesame oil at the very end, just for flavoring. I also enjoyed adding a bit of Sriracha. YUM.

no, the word is "tolerant" "westerners" colonized the world, (including china before teh boxer revolution) because europeans were humans like their hosts. but in europe and colonies, the natives were unacceptable and eventually not-our-sort-of-human. before you disagree, we can look at the first native americans for an example. they welcomed Columbus, gave him a place and gold, but he left his crew on the island, and we he came back, found they raped someone and got killed, he cut of their hands and left their hands dangling by the skin so that the chiefs feared them. so while you think lots of black haired people means "diverse", actually you want to be "tolerant" of the way people dance, and stuff :) that way, what europeans talk about before world war 2 was "assimilation" the natives would be "assimilated into normal government society". but afterwards, the europeans talk about accepting and encouraging other cultures to express themselves. so diversity would be to reject your own monocultural culture, but tolerance would be to 'accept and encourage' other diverse cultures. peace or he'ping

When you watch someone do something, your brain activates in similar ways to if you're doing it yourself. Mirror neurons in the brain activate when you observe someone doing an action, and they exhibit similar activation to when you do the action. This is probably why people get satisfaction from watching other people do things like eating :)

So heres what I'm doing. I had 2 packets left of the vegan Jajangmyeon instant noodles in my cabinet because I bought a 3 pack this oast summer and I absolutely hated the taste. So for some reason I was craving it today even though I know I hated it. So I just searched for a jajanmyeon mukbang and turned yours on while mine cooked. I made one packet and guess what. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. So I'm sitting here asking how is this possible for me to like it so much when I hated it the first time. So I made the second pack (bad I know but this is all I ate all day) this time I added some bell pepper (yellow, green, red) onion and broccoli and it was even better!! I'm officially hooked and I will now try to make your version once I get the ingredients. Sorry for the essay, I hope you read it lol
