This may seem pretty obvious but just in case any young folks are watching this... ******When he says to put some olive oil on the pepper while roasting it, he means ONLY when it's in the oven in a pan roasting. Do NOT put anything with oil directly on an open flame burner. Oil is extremely flammable and gets WORSE when water is used to try to put the fire out. So if you're roasting the pepper with an open flame, just leave it how it is. No oil! ******

I made this yesterday and it was delicious! It tasted very much like regular nacho cheese the only thing though was that it was more on the sweet side. I would say if you don't want it to be somewhat sweet add some more nutritional yeast and some more paprika and many a bit more of garlic and onion powder. Aside from that I really really enjoyed this and think it was a great recipe! Will definitely make this again with a bit of the above mentioned modifications thank you!

I know this comments a year old but I was wondering if it was gritty at all? I made a similar recipe with potatoes and it was gritty, but I think it was just the potatoes. Thanks!
@TheSleep14087 жыл бұрын
You probably aren't blending it well enough...very easy to have smooth, creamy potatoes.
@WarriorNana4Chg4 жыл бұрын
@@lillith2619 Also a high end blender, like VitaMix, would blend it to be smooth. We bought a VitaMix because our old blender, Cuisinart, wouldn't blend our smoothies very smooth (we had Chunkies) no matter how long we ran the blender.

+VM2007 Thats what I asked myself first time I heard it. To find out later on for example that the Guiness I love to have once in while is filtered through fish bone. Apparently they re changing it this year( an announcement has been made). Hope others will follow them.
@japanluv9 жыл бұрын
+VM2007 Regarding cheese, my dear, try this link: miyokoskitchen.com/ I got her book but havent tried her cheese recipes, yet due to limited free time. Shes on youtube, with some vegan cheeses recipes. Thats how I found her book. You wont taste a vegan beer totally different than a regular one. Its more about consciousness.Used to love fish and seefood in general, and beef. Gradually kept only fish, then only dairy and eggs then went fully vegan last year, so a year now. My dream is to have the space and land to grow my own things. Some vegans give up alcohol completely. I like a glass of home made wine from Romania where Im originally from, or a sour cherry "brandy" , a commercial pear cider or beer as well. We need to keep in touch. My best friend hes born as Aquarius as well(17th feb), so you can talk as much as you want:))I wont mind. I socialise easily and like making new friends. Not on facebook for almost 2 years but Id like to stay in touch with you. My wife is vegan, too. We can help with questions plus youll find here people who know a lot more than me. Ive started for health reasons and then the animal welfare came in my mind. Is not a religion, its a way of love. I wont preach it. I just wanna show what it can do... 4am here. Night duty messed up my sleep. Good night:))

Hey, I'm going to college next year and am nervous about how I'll be able to continue being vegan. Was wondering if you had any tips for eating vegan in college on a budget?
@heymickii9 жыл бұрын
+Salivating Salamander Hey! I'm in collage. Here are my tips: Most carbs are cheap, like pasta, rice, potatoes etc, buy a lot of those. Crushed tomatoes make a great base for sauces and stews. Make lentil and bean based stews such as indian dal, delicious and cheap! I would say my number one tip is; go for whole ingredients rather than expensive soy meats and such. Most veggies are pretty cheap and you can do a lot of delicious stuff from them. And there's of course vegan ramen. Can't go to collage without ramen. If you want more tips I suggest you checkout the "Cheap lazy vegan" - channel. She does great stuff.
@reachtrita9 жыл бұрын
Make food in batches and also shop at cheaper places like 99cent store or Aldi. Use a lot of beans/rice/mushrooms (only $1/pack at 99c. Store)/ tofu/ soy milk ($1 at 99c store or Dollar Tree)
@nekoanomaly9 жыл бұрын
+Salivating Salamander Surving college was no cake walk for me. First off buy a electric pressure cooker. Most dorms don't have it listed in the student handbooks as contraband. Crock-pots were considered off limits and so were hotplates at my school. Depending how far away your school is from a vegan market some time vegan groceries are hard to get. The Dollar Tree stores was my saving grace in school. Oriental flavored ramen is vegan. Not all stores carry it though. This was my emergency food for late night cramming. Popcorn to me was a must, buy the kernels not the ready to make packs, the ready mades are usually are not vegan. Kernels will pop in a brown paper bag the same as the ready mades do if you tape it up. With that pressure cooker I told you to buy can cook your own beans, lentils, soups and damn near anything in your dorm room. Dry pasta rice can be made in it in a matter of minutes. You can even bake in one if you get a chocolate fix. Unfortunately there was no whole foods or easy to access grocery where I went to college. I could barely afford to rub two nickles together when I was in school my choices were either college or wheels. Whole Pay Check was out of the question. So I did most of my own cooking Junior year and ate nearly all meals from dollar tree. You may have to fight your school to get off your meal plan if your living in a dorm. Hopefully they will have a salad bar, some colleges don't. Worse yet every salad made is covered in meat and cheese. So here is a couple of pointers on getting buy. For some reason there seems to be a dollar tree around most college campus's. Probably because poor college students are great profits. Dollar tree carries: West soy shelf stable soy milk and peanut-butter. Red beans black beans pinto, and lentils, pasta and rice. Raw popcorn, cereal (read labels on cereal). In the frozen area, they have peppers, onions, peas, corn and french fries and limas, and stir fry veggies, broccoli cauliflower and some times squash zucchini medley. My local one always carries bread too which is vegan. Cheap bread is usually vegan read the labels to make sure because normally this is the day old stuff that wasn't bought from the gas stations. It will go stale quicker. Buy chili powder, cumin, garlic, salt and pepper from the spice section. With the pressure cooker a plate/bowl knife fork and spoon and good cutting knife and some cooking utensils you should be set. All of these are in dollar tree too. Hopefully this will help you out. I know after college, when I was drowning in debt I still had to eat this way keep in mind scrounging is also prep for your future. Shampoos Laundry detergents and cleaners your going to need to hit the internet for some recipes. Hint. Baking soda and lemon juice and vinegar are in most all of these home vegan cleaner. Once again all found at dollar tree.
@alexandrap72538 жыл бұрын
+Salivating Salamander There's vegan mac and cheese,too you can buy in most grocery stores! My college's dining hall offers a lot of vegan options too. You can't go wrong with the fresh fruit and salad bars! Also look around campus for vegan soups and basics like peanut butter, breads to toast, and rice and beans. Hope this helps!

They sell Soy chorizo Cacique at Food 4 less for $1. add some mushrooms and zucchini :) mushroomd 3-4$ but you'll have left over. One or two zucchini less than $2. Serving is 1-3. Depending on how much you eat. I usually share with my mom, and still have another plate to eat later. . Lentils + garlic powder + can of tomato sauce. around $9 leftover lentils for another day, and garlic powder for other dishes as well. Rice + beans +grilled veggies + you can buy by pound, for 1-2 servings. or you can buy a pack to use for other days, I find can beans for a $1 at food 4 less. Rice for .89 cents - $2 .. veggies by pounds, or you can get them frozen, ehh. lol They sell vegan chicken tenders for $4 . depending on the brand . you can use " simple truth " or. $4.50 with "Gardein" . You can get a burrito with avocado salsa beans and rice perhaps at some places for less than $6.
