i made this recipe as a meat eater (broke, no fish) , and added fish sauce to the tomato mixture, very tasty! with the fish sauce it actually tastes more authentic than i thought it would. 8/10 compared to vegetarian sushi, 5/10 compared to fish sushi. really clean and easy recipe, i didn't even roll it up, ate it like poki, great recipe and would recommend to anyone

So I followed this for the tomatoes and the rice and made a sushi bowl out of it with avocado and roasted seaweed and regular spicy mayo and man oh mannnn it’s so good when you are craving spicy tuna but can’t eat it temporarily or simply afford it. All I need is the little crispy things they use and it’ll be complete. Also! I used Roma tomatoes which have less “juice” on the inside so I was able to use the whole tomato and it still was the perfect texture

@@JunGotoVegan My eyes were far bigger than my stomach when I decided to put this together so upped the recipe to 3 tomatoes. My girl and I ended up eating it two nights in a row which was awesome! A full 24 hours of marinating made a noticeable difference in the flavor so that will be my plan moving forward. Bought bread flour today because your chicken teriyaki is on deck...I'll keep you posted. Thanks again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I don’t have kombu dashi, but I do have kelp powder. Are they similar enough to sub? I don’t know what kind of kelp my powder comes from, I originally bought it at a health food store because it provides high levels of micronutrients to plants. I have kombu strips and they definitely don’t taste the same.
@JunGotoVegan3 жыл бұрын
Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Yes! You can absolutely use kelp powder, that’s actually what’s used in most plant based seafood alternatives👍 You can put your kombu strips in the water to cook the tomatoes and/or in the marinade.

Hello! Love your recipes as always. Is kombu dashi kelp powder? 💕 cannot find what it is however i do have the powder and kombu. Thanks!
@JunGotoVegan3 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you!! They are similar. I believe the dashi has got more umami and sweetness. You should be able to find some at an asian/japanese store. You can of course use kelp powder instead. You have kombu so that is more than enough! Hope you’ll like it!
@mdg59743 жыл бұрын
@@JunGotoVegan ah ok! Because you add the kelp powder in the marinade for the tomato i was not sure. Can i also grind down the kombu or what do you recommend?
@mdg59743 жыл бұрын
And on google kombu dashi is a soup when i look it up🤪
@JunGotoVegan3 жыл бұрын
That would add more of the kombu flavor to the tomatoes so that would be great! I’d say doing that with nori is more essential!

Use Japanese taro. You either boil it or grade it and steam it, put clothing in the steamer for steaming taro. Namh shivay. Dear friend, Use coconut milk to make rice more tester. Replace coconut milk instead of water. Second, please visit bhartiya site how to cook bringle fry in mustered sauce. Keep half boil steam pieces of taro, add nori sheets in middle like sandwiches, give some cut like X shape cover with rice paper and fry in mustered sauce. You will have very spicy fish and chips for eating. You can marinate Japanese taro in algae oil for some two or three hours before cooking. Please visit some bhartiya site for vagan meat shrimp and fish recipes. They have new new ideas. Coconut milk can replace flavour of cashew nut. Please bhartiya visit Odia food. Vagan fish. Your vegan maguro looks more like vegan sake. Doesn't really matter though, because as the rice is right, what does it matter what's inside? Want to keep it real? Toss in some gobo. Even rotten, it's still tai!
@JunGotoVegan3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha that is funny i’ve never seen red and solid sake😂 Rotten hobo sushi would be very interesting and probably good. the crunch.
@Chompchompyerded3 жыл бұрын
@@JunGotoVegan On my monitor it looked orange. That's why I said saki. The comment, "Even rotten it's still tai" is an old Japanese saying from the times when you could still get real tai fish (now they almost always substitute orange roughy or red snapper, which looks like tai, but definitely doesn't taste like tai. Tai was the best tasting fish for both sushi, and other things, and it gained something close to mythical status. They say it still tasted good even when it was starting to rot. The saying, "even rotten it's still tai" that it's something good no matter how bad it is. If you enjoy your life even when really bad thing are going on in it, you could say about life that, "even rotten, it's still tai". If something is really different from what is traditional you could say, "even rotten it's still tai" That's kind of what I was getting at with my comment. Maybe vegan sushi isn't quite traditional sushi, but, hey, it's still sushi, and it's still good! Even rotten, it's still tai!!!" Just an interesting fun fact. :)

@@JunGotoVegan Oh, and regarding hobo sushi, LOL! Yuch! But funny. Dead 'possum, mangy rat, all tasting a bit of white lightning (or shall we make it a touch more epicurean and call it eclair blanc?), or some radiator gin. LOL! Maybe later on the hobo sushi. I'll get back to you ,on that when I'm ready for something that "adventurous".
