I was vegan for 33 years but never felt healthy. I bit the bullet and switched to carnivore and the improvements in my health are off the charts. I was never one of those asshole vegans who tries to force it on everyone, nor will I be an asshole carnivore, but I do tell everyone who's interested about the improvements I experienced. I'd say decades of depression disappearing within a month was one of the biggest wins of my life. Your videos, and those of some of your colleagues helped me make my decision. Thanks for that!

@@A1N0 I did it successfully for seasons at a time with very high fruit - many bananas, watermelons, mangoes, dates etc and green smoothies. It feels amazing short term and my BMI was 18. The problem is sourcing so much fruit and having time to eat it all. Running on sugar feels very good and makes you want to run more. But not sustainable

Same. I was a raw vegan for 6 years, so basically starving. In the end, I had more health problems than I had when I was living on fast food, soda and ice cream. Has carnivore helped you get rid of the vegan-induced illnesses? I'm recently consistently keto and have seen great results, but I wonder what would happen if I could give up my beloved broccoli and cabbage. I feel like I would starve because I don't eat eggs or nuts, or at least get tired of just meat and butter.

If someone feels good and is healthy, it amazes me that someone else should care what they are eating. We all have to figure out what works for ourselves. Having lost 130 pounds and resolved many medical issues, I have found what works for me. If someone else refuses to eat meat, that leaves more for me.

@@Jimbo878- Same with me and my friends and family. It’s easy to see food addiction in them. Not only that, but they are frequently bringing up my diet in an effort to belittle me-their obese selves sitting on the sidelines of life. And the rare times that I do fall off the wagon, like at a birthday party, they actually celebrate me coming back to their side for that quick visit. They say, “Well, you can’t give up all your joy! Besides, what’s the use living an extra 3 or 4 years if you’re having to give up all your pleasures?” I sit around the dinner table with them, and all they talk about are their aches and pains (mostly preventable), their doctor appointments (mostly preventable), how much their prescription med cost (mostly preventable), and who has cancer (mostly preventable). I’m done sounding like a broken record, so I will just continue carnivore, enjoying pickleball, and setting a good example-no more advice that they’re not asking for nor welcoming. I tried eating vegan. I tried eating exclusively carnivore. The latter helped me transition to sharply restricting refined carbs, by which I mean, for the sake of simplicity, sugar and flour. But I did not feel great under either strict regime. I currently consume a lot of meat and animal fat and also eat salads and steamed vegetables. And I feel pretty good. I'm 77, do a 4 mile jog two or three times a week and take no prescription meds. One additional point: if you're exclusively vegan or carnivore and allow your preference to become a moral issue, that attitude will make rational discussion of dietary choice difficult. In my experience this attitude is more common among vegans, many of whom seem to think that eating meat is tantamount to killing another human. I'll admit that during the 18 months or so during which I tried to be strictly vegan, I allowed that choice to become a moral issue for me. I regret that. It has been over twenty years since my vegan phase and I still find myself apologizing to people for the lofty and sanctimonious pronouncements I subjected them to during that time.

After more than a Decade on a Low Fat Plant Based Diet I had developed: T2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Insomnia, Chronic Gut Inflammation, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, GERD, Brain Fog & Memory issues, 35 lbs Overweight, Recurring Skin Rashes (neck & shoulders), Chronic Neck Pain. I thought i was just getting old (and I was) BUT In only 4+ Months on a Carnivore diet (for Blood Sugar Control) every one of these chronic health issues have gone away or improved immensely & I'm off all medications (None of which were working that well -- for BP, Metformin, Migraine, Prilosec, & Skin). My strength & endurance have increased a lot. Plus....now im NEVER HUNGRY...Eat only 2 meals a day now (used to "graze" all day). On the Plant Based diet I lived with a constsnt gnawing hunger. Blood Sugar is normal, Triglycerides were cut in half. While HDL more thsn doubled (thereby improving my "Triglycerides/ HDL" Ratio by over 400%). Plants did nothimg to keep me healthy. May not stay on a strict Carnivore diet.... but Im never going back to eating only Plants.

My biggest stichk is that vegans denial of the process that gets them most of their products. They claim it’s “animal cruelty free”. For example, soybeans require farmers to eliminate all animals in the farming fields. Animals include rodents and birds. It’s hypocritical.

While I agree animals need to be humanly treated, just remember cows in their current state are bread to eat. Some consider cows as pets, but this is not most of us. Just because you may have a pet dog doesn't mean you will eat that dog because that's not why the dog was bread. Great video!

Ag ruins soil and contributes by far the most to water quality problems.

@@AnteroH it’s not being hyperbolic. Avocados and Almonds in California for example require massive amounts of bee importations. 2/3rds don’t survive the journey. Tens of millions of bees die needlessly just to have avocado toast. Soybeans are even worse. Hundreds of birds and vermin in a 10 acre farming sector just to get your soy beans. This involves poisoning, shooting, etc. there are alternatives like tomatoes, potatoes etc that don’t require those drastic measures, but they’re nutrient lacking. Look if vegans know this, accept the risk and don’t refer it to “cruelty-free”, most people don’t take issue. The problem is that they use semantics to downplay this such as animal deaths are byproducts of this, so no animal was harmed in the harvesting. Thus, cruelty free. Carnivores accept that you have to kill an animal in order to harvest its meats. We want to minimize the pain and suffering, a minimally cruel death and having an stress-free environment to develop in. That’s the big difference.

Dr. Berry, GO VOLS, I’m excited to tell you my health progress. Early July,’24, this summer, I finally went to a primary care doctor. I’m 5’10” and weighed 308 lbs.. I was diagnosed with fatty liver, obesity, HTN and diabetes. With your help, I went on a strict KETO/ carnivore-lite diet (I had black coffee and less than an ounce of pecans or walnuts X2 per week), eating OMAD. By early November, last month, I lost 82 pounds and dropping. Obesity is on its way out. Fatty liver going too. My BP went from 187/ 117 to 92/54, HTN, cured. My A1C and sugar is back to normal, diabetes, cured. My primary care doctor had zero interest or influence. I want to thank you for your help…from an old veteran, finally retired in the foothills of the east Tennessee Smokies.

These comments are so helpful, thank you. We need boost, our diet was high in meat and animal fat (I don't use oils except when making mayo with avocado oil) but we still ate lots of carbs in a form of sourdough bread, potato and raw sugar (in coffee) sometimes rice, too. Whenever I cook I try to keep the carb low using more veggies and meat and less rice, but still... we are obese. The only thing I can't tolerate is the coffee without a bit of sweetness and some veggies used to give taste to the food (onion, garlic, carrots and parsnips or for stew pepper and tomato) , they are not big amounts but absolutely needed if we don't want to live only in steak and eggs. Any idea please for the coffee problem? Is there anything which is better and tolerable to make it a bit sweet? Honey maybe? We also drink raw milk, that stays no matter what, my teeth stopped rotting when we changed to drink only raw milk. In whole my life they said I couldn't absorb calcium well, BS, my mother was very pushy on milk pasteurised/boiled - opposite effect and I had to drink more than half a litre every day. Raw is a miracle.

I could never stay a strict vegan because I became very sickly every time. My personal motivation was the horrid ethical practices of factory farming and big ag. Then i developed severe anemia and had to change my entire lifestyle. I'm grateful to have had the guidance of this channel. These days I have ditched the dairy and still enjoy loads of veggies of all kinds and I've slowly healed my anemia, thanks to healthy grass fed beef and other more ethically sourced red meats. I have zero hate toward the keto/carnivore community and I absolutely agree that big food and ultraprocessed junk are the common enemies. And seed oils! Whether you’re eating carnivore, vegan, or anywhere in between, eating primarily whole food is the way to go. Dr. Phinney and Volek's study indicated it took an average of 3 weeks to adjust to a keto diet. And an additional 3 months or so for the body to become fat-adapted enough for exercise performance to return to normal.

I appreciate this video because it makes sense to highlight the things that Carnivores and Vegans agree on, as opposed to constantly debating and arguing about what way of eating is better. Both sides are advocating for the ultimate goal, which is to cure or reverse obesity and the diseases that often develop as a result. Another thing that connects both camps, is soil health, pesticide, herbicide use, and air pollution. All these toxins go into our food supply, and decrease wildlife, and native plant health. RFK Jr. now has a podcast on KZbin. He is talking to food producers, and addressing/exposing information so that the public can understand how our food supply has been co opted by big gov/industry.

Thank you Dr Berry for your attempt at some reconciliation between the Carnivore & Vegan camps. I was raised in a vegetarian home and have some Vegan family members (7th day Adventist). I’m mostly Carnivore to heal from a diet that did not provide full metabolic health and resulted in CVD and pre-diabetes 2. Vegans tend to be militant about it and your kind attempt to offer an olive branch speaks to your integrity and humanity!

My opinion only. There is true middle ground here that, if taken by both preferred eating styles, will benefit all in the fight for healthier humans. Large companies promoting highly processed items that, for the most part, are not even food at all and the pharmaceutical companies making a huge profit off the unwell coupled with insurance companies making bank off illnesses caused by all that are the real enemies of health. Both preferred eating styles need to stand together against them.

It was great finally being able to shake your hand and thank you in person at KPL recently Dr. Berry! If someone is able to be healthy or even thrive on vegan diets, it doesn't invalidate my lived experiences or successes on carnivore but I think among many self-proclaimed ethical vegans, our collective N=1 successes on carnivore seems to invalidate significant parts of their worldview and identities. It can be hard to bridge the gap in perspectives between those who came to carnivore for individual health reasons and vegans who came to that way of eating for all-encompassing moral worldview reasons. But not impossible. I think you set a good example of how to bridge divides like vegan vs. carnivore. Keep up the great work!

Meaningful conversations are difficult when people have no interest in learning, only arguing. I know what it feels like to be a vegan and falling apart despite eating like all of those vegan doctors tell us to. So far, heavy meat based low-carb (have never made it to full on carnivore) has not been like that for me, and I've been at this for most of a decade now. Brief times of high carbs have told me that I would not do well (or feel well) to return to old eating habits, even with "good whole foods". For those who have decided to be vegans, I wish them well, sincerely. But they won't convince me that I'd do well as a vegan because I've been there, I wasn't well.

I was vegetarian and very unhealthy. My blood sugar levels were jumping up and down all over the place. My doctor called it T2D and said I had to go on insulin and metaformin and I refused. During the pandemic, another doctor recommended keto and I threw a fit! I started praying for guidance and watching YT videos about keto. I found out that I’m not getting enough protein and was still eating more carbs than I could handle. I have lost 25 pounds so far and hit a stall during the holidays. I’m back on the program but now with more protein. I feel so much better eating meat and my arthritis pain has disappeared. I’m ecstatic! Prayers answered!

Dear Dr Ken, thank you for this valuable video. I completely agree we have been pushed into polarity about many things, thanks for pointing to the common ground. My partner and i have eaten vegetarian about 35 years and it suits us. We love our food and have no chronic illnesses. I came onto your channel from investigating statins and am grateful for your honest informative videos, along with many other brave ones going against the medical grain. It's a relevation to know the benefits of a meat-only diet from you and your supporters, though I can't imagine eating meat sgain. I think the key point is that we are not all the same and different diets suit or don't suit an individual. We should tune in to our body and notice what is doing it good or not. Another point for your common ground. The majority put 'food' in their mouths just for pleasure or from habit, hence are susceptible to advertising and propaganda. While your followers report never feeling so healthy as since eating carnivore, elsewhere there are surely as many stories in favour of vegetarian or vegan. The way we think is mega powerful too! One of my concerns with eating meat is animal welfare, treating animals like factory products, routinely spoiling them with medications, highly processed meat products with dishonest labelling, revealed by occasional health scares. For the time being, I'll stay with my diet but thank you for opening my mind to this whole area. Peace and health to all Eleanor in Southampton, England

Dr. Berry, I think that if more vegans who are not eating meat because they don't want to kill an animal knew about all the death involved in agriculture's methods for growing plants, AND if they knew about the advantages to the earth, the animals, and the humans with regenerative farming, many heads would be turned. How about a shortened version of your interview with Lierre Keith, for example? Vegans/vegetarians would greatly benefit from this information! thanks for considering this.

I’m just starting a carnivore journey for autoimmune issues and I’ve long been frustrated with feeling like we are being slowly poisoned with our food sourcing. I think the more people that can come together and shed light on the dangers of processed, sugary foods, the more people that can put pressure on the food industries and medical communities etc, the more chance we have of creating real change!

For the first time in my whole life since I started having periods in middle school (I’m 28 years old) I am on my period and have not taken a single pain pill for day time or sleep time. I am still cramping. It’s still painful. But it is bearable and not debilitating. I haven’t done a SINGLE thing to manage the pain. No hot bath. No heating pad or warm bottles of water. No massages. NADA. Not even a cup of hot tea. I was 2 weeks into carnivore, went down to ketovore because cold Turkey off carbs and sugars is so hard, then cheated the past about 5 days and went full blown back into carbs and sugars and fried fast food probably cooked in seed oils and regular butter. And STILL my period didn’t kill me. Went right back carnivore yesterday because I’m so tired but so amazed at this change. Also my hair grew an inch like two weeks in overnight 😂 and I noticed a slight increase in energy from my chronic fatigue I’ve been living with from my enlarged fibroids. I’m so excited to continue this journey of healing. I’m thinking paleo might be more beneficial for me after 90 days of carnivore minimum but for now I am committed

Dr. Ken D. Berry I think this is great that you propose to "reach across dividing lines" to vegans. I must state that the first time I heard and came to a conclusion of N=1 was from your lovely wife Neisha; it really hit home for me. If YOUR CHOICE of diet for YOU is working, then that is the bottom line, BUT do not force your 'success' on others work together on the greater good for the situation; which is stopping mistreatment of animals in industry, mistreatment of humans in 'big food' AND accomplishing the Make America HEALTHY Again movement. Without good health we are dead ......... thanks to all the good 'Docs' who treat the person and not the pocket.

If there is one person that I would like to see Dr Berry discuss with is Frances Moore Lappe . She wrote a book back in the 60's/70's called ' Diet for a small Planet ' . She meant well in writing it but I think it is one of the most destructive books ever written . Most of the arguments for veganism/ vegetarianism came from that book . I myself was influenced by it for 40 years till wholegrains nearly killed me . I often hear modern vegan advocates who use statistics and ' facts ' taken from that , nearly 50 year old book . It's time that that book is properly critiqued.

“Reaching across the aisle” is a fantastic idea. While I find the idea of the genetic diet ludicrous and extreme, I think that what each individual needs in terms of nutrition is individual and at least partially the result of our ancestry. Basically (my belief here), we developed in a specific way so our bodies could take full advantage of the food that was available. However, we are all human, and to meet the needs of the human body, we need specific nutrients. How much and how we get them will differ - that’s the individual part. We need to keep this in mind and not be judgmental. IF a person complains of a health issue which we believe could be relieved by a change in diet, AND IF they ask what we would do, THEN Offer your opinion, kindly. Otherwise, keep your opinion to yourself.

My biggest worry about this is that vegans seem to have won the battle that eating meat has a bigger negative effect on the environment than vegan or vegetarian diets . This just seems to be taken as Truth in Europe. In some parts of Europe they are now taxing farmers extra for raising meat . I was a vegetarian/ vegan for nearly 40 years and just about avoided death by finding low carb / IF . However I don't believe that industrialised agriculture is better for the environment than pasture raised animals . Nearly every media commentator in the UK just says ' eat less meat to save the planet ' . 😨 Now we have this really annoying bloke in the UK named Dale Vincent. I would love to see Dr Berry have a chat with Dale . Dale is very rich and has been donating to political parties in the UK that push the orthodoxy that meat is bad for the environment and human health . In this last few days he has been pushing to get bacon to be treated as cigarettes have been treated in the last 20 years . Bacon should be labelled with pictures of the terrible diseases that it apparently causes . He has some vested interest in all this because he is invested in renewable energies and wants the government to give him as much subsidy as possible to enrich him more . I don't think you can have a discussion with someone like Dale because they are so rigid thinking that it's like a religion for them . The fact if the matter is that in the MSM it is the vegetarian/ vegans that have won the PR argument. It's very painful to me that kids will be deterred from eating eggs and bacon and end up eating the miracle food porridge . Of course when I say kids I really mean poor kids whose health is already terrible in England . Dental extractions ( including whole mouth ) is now the main cause of child admission for surgery into hospital in the UK . I listened to a programme about this the other day and the depressing thing was that it was all about teeth. There was no discussion about the underlying health of those kids . Surely those kids with rotted teeth must be well on the way to insulin resistance. .

Then we need to fine tune our understanding of how to reap benefits from fruits and vegetables nuts and seeds without being adversely affected by antinutrients. I have tried a bunch of health food diets in the past and nothing has even come close to the success of low carb, keto and carnivore. I cheat on my carnivore with onions and carrots and mushrooms on my eggs. I have sweet potato at dinner. I add a pint of ice cream to my shopping cart, but I am going to try to quit that this winter. The fact that most people think I'm around 50, instead of 66, and fit, causes people to ask me "how do you do it?" When I tell them I eat meat and zero veg/fruit, they are surprised. I quickly move on to discussing how evil factory farming is, and that meat eaters want to see family farms subsidized instead of corporations, and how this would help not only humans, but the planet. I encourage them to watch The Meatrix. Then, I ask how they feel about that, and I LISTEN. Sometimes, it's best to leave the conversation there. If they are open, we can discuss regenerative farming, the sacrifice of billions of animals for veganism, and et cetera. If not, I've at least planted a seed (no pun intended).

A prominent vegan leader wrote an article a while back reminding vegans that they're not doing it for their health; it's an ethical position. He freely admitted he gladly sacrifices optimum nutrition in order to respect animal rights.

Veganism started in the US as a religious view. Because "eating animals leads to sinful urges", per John Kellogg (yes, the cereal king).

After almost 2 years carnivore thanks to you doctor Ken I have improved health in so many ways. Special thanks to the carnivore community on KZbin! Shortly after becoming a carnivore I developed an inguinal hernia. Very challenging situation that led me to a plant based person who has been trying to heal it through diet and exercise..I kept on with the carnivore diet and after 1 year and following some of their exercises my hernia is almost completely under control. Whereas the plant based person has gotten control but only after 3.5 to 4 years. Thanks everyone for listening. I hope this is helpful.
