In the original dub, Goku is just surprised 18 is there he just says "Isn't it no. 18? It's her! Why is she here!?". He isn't saying anything about attacking. When reporter ask Goku "Hi, where are you from?" He answers "from heaven (world beyond)" and points up to sky. She laughs "You are joking" Goku says "It isn't joke" and cameraman notices the halo over Goku's head. Reporter says nervously "That is a strange accessory". Goku starts to explain "It's not decoration. When you die..." at that moment Piccolo explodes their equipment. Reporter never mentions any brown-nosing. That blond guy, who wants to expose Gohan doesn't talk about Videl as much. He isn't that direct that he wants her. It was good thing Vegeta destroyed the machine, because they started to doubt it's working properly.

Piccolo destroying the cameras is always the highlight. Goku is too nice to refuse and Vegeta would have no doubt made a scene like he did the punching machine so if they need more subtlety and tact Piccolo is their go-to guy. It was great seeing the tournament announcer again he is one of the only civilians that knows the truth about Goku and the Z-fighters.

One thing I always disliked is how NO ONE recognizes Piccolo. Piccolo terrorized the Tenkaichi Budokai back in Dragon Ball and literally shot an attack that destroyed a mountain and the whole crowd saw it. They saw him stretch his arms and use them to attack Goku, Grow as big as Godzilla, he was one of the first characters to fly and both he and Goku were so fast no one could see them and that was one of the first times that'd happened. That also had one of the best beam struggles as well. Plus, he's green with pointed ears and still dresses exactly the same! How does no one recognize Piccolo Jr?

The Announcer is one of those cool side characters that is always nice to see coming back having their moment... he knows Goku since he was little boy and like someone mentioned he might as well be a Z-Fighter with all that knowledge that he has :D his presence on Roshi's Iland wouldn't surprise me at all if it happen one day. I'm not 100% sure about it but absence of Tien in this last 1/3 part of DBZ is explained due the fact that orginal voice actor for Tienshinhan passed away and they wanted to honor him by simply not including anyone else.

Most people from the US started directly with DBZ, which is not bad... but they REALLY Missed out on original DB series (latm got to enjoy the series 10 year before NA region)... Android 18 is barely a cyborg at all. Dr. Gero used pure organic methods to upgrade #17 and #18 into super-humans. The only machinery that #17 and #18 have in their bodies is the power core device that allows them to have infinite energy and previously the bomb that Gero implanted in their chests should they rebel. (the one Krillin wished to be removed at the end of the Cell Saga).

Technically this is Goku's second time meeting Android 18.
