The hypocrisy that Madison and I mention during this reaction is --> Vegeta spent most of his life killing beings across the entire galaxy for “the thrill of it” He did this all the way up until the world martial arts tournament in the Buu saga where he murdered dozens (if not hundreds) of innocent bystanders just because he wasn’t able to get his fight with Goku… Vegeta with this kind of horrific past has no place in judging Toppo and his decision to become a destroyer...

Yes actually he DOES. Vegeta's past has absolutely NOTHING to do with PRIDE. Vegeta isn't insulting Toppo for becoming a Destroyer. That's NOT the issue. The isssue is Toppo seling out his PRIDE and throwing away EVERYTHING HE STANDS FOR. Toppo was getting beaten and his choice to deal with it was throw a tantrum and say fuck my beliefs, they didn't help so I'll just get rid of them. Vegeta is insulting Toppo's arrogance in calling himself a "Pride" Trooper and so VEERY EASILY throwing Pride out the window when things don't go his way. The Destroyer aspect has NOTHING to do with it. So No. There's NO Hypocrisy there. If ANYTHING Toppo is the hypocrite for calling Goku the "Villain." at least Goku and Vegeta NEVER ONCE denied their own personal beliefs just to win a fight.

@@patrickcromwell7554 Also the fact that it has been reiterated many times throughout Dragon Ball Z that second chances are a thing. Redemption is a big theme in DB where they took villains like Piccolo, Vegeta, hell even Tien kind of was as well, and made them heroes. There is no point in having "character arcs" where they undergo a transformation of self if you're going to go and judge the end result of the arc because "they did something bad" in the beginning. Vegeta is not the same Vegeta that he was in the Saiyan Saga, and although I agree with Baris on most Dragon Ball topics, this one, not at all. You have Villain Vegeta (long past), Hero Vegeta and the blending of the two (Majin), and on that note, using Majin Vegeta against him at this stage is wrong. While he wasn't complete under Babidi's control, his rage and aggression had been awakened so he definitely wasn't himself. Vegeta has matured so drastically over the years of Dragon Ball Z / Super and it is part of what makes his character so beloved. He absolutely does have the right to judge Toppo because the man Vegeta is, is nothing so far from evil.

Although it didn't have nearly as much weight as Vegeta vs Buu, the fact that his "Atonement blast" actually worked this time felt more satisfying. It felt like the creators of Dragonball Z were so upset that Vegeta's atonement amounted to little more than a minor inconvenience for Buu that they wanted to bring it back in more spectacular fashion and ensure it's success.

The problem was, it was completely unnecessary lmao. You don’t do a ”self destruction” attack that drains all of your energy at best, when you are already beating your opponent 10-0. Had Toppo remained the top dog and Vegeta overcame him with that blast, it would have had more impact, but to see Vegeta beating him even through Hakai, it necer made any sense that he stops his momentum completely just to start charging an attack that can kill him at worst, and drain everything he has at best, especially when Jiren is still there. I don’t know, kind of awkward, forced fan service moment when the hype glasses are taken out

Well it does make sense.. you gotta figure. He was fighting for his family too. And if he didn’t beat top, goku and company likely couldn’t have withstood that duo of jiren and top. Which means the whole universe vs vegetas own life to give his universe a fighting chance. It was a reasonable sacrifice, especially cause he didn’t suicide bomb. He didn’t seem too surprised at surviving so I would say he likely knew his limit, thus saving him. And if it were luck, again, it’s a reasonable sacrifice. One for one. Potentially saving his family and friends

Vegeta isn’t a hypocrite he always fought for his pride as a saiyan its his one main guiding motivation but what he channels that pride into has changed over the series. When we first met him he was a conqueror he took over planets and killed all who stood in his way but now after several seasons he is fighting for his universe for his family and his promise to a saiyan who fell in battle but he always stuck to the saiyan pride. Its why he calls out Toppo who was so dedicated to his cause of justice but quickly forsake it. Its a good full circle moment to the Buu Saga how Goku called out Vegeta for becoming a Majin and why Vegeta called Toppo for something similar failure.

4:50 How the heck... 🤣 It's simple and Frieza's best and most underrated trait, Frieza and his race are like 10x more durable than their power level would suggest. Remember, cut in half and blasted by Goku's "You Fool !" blast, he still survived a planet of the size of Namek exploding on him and then long enough after that to be rescued... Hell, he is somewhat contious whilst in pieces after Trunks had his fun, as we can see right before he blasts him and right after they ress his pieces. You need to be much, much stronger than Frieza to even properly hurt him, let alone kill him. If Goku & Vegeta or even Piccolo were this much of a tanks, they'd actually be unstoppable. DUUDE! This episode was so hype! I loved they brought Vegeta's final atonement back.. I really enjoyed the nostalgia. You have to remember, those days of dbz are of an era bygone in replacement of our modern times.. Those same captures can only be recovered so much, but I understand where you're coming from... Kinda have to take a moment and think, like I have this globally known franchise. I have produced products that are famed for its iconic characters... In my own opinion, I look at it as they want to re-invent what they created years ago, but at the same time want to pay homage and not completely replicate what was before... They want to use the inspiration to remake some of the same scenes or familiar events in dbs to basically pay homage to the classical production. It's possible they couldn't get those classical actors or pay them enough to repeat those exact lines in those dbz flashbacks or even use them for the current versions of the characters really. But I'm still happy to see things like the final flash, final atonement, Frieza giving Goku some energy after his first battle with Jiren, and more.. But yea, and speaking of Frieza, I got to give him some credit. He actually tried to still compete somewhat with Toppo after all that. The first time I saw that, it surprised me, and I loved it! Now it's time to face the boss! Witness and behold...... Jiren, the Gray.

I loved Vegeta’s final atonement here. It wasn’t at all regurgitated imo cause of course everyone is gonna use the same moves from DBZ in Super - kamehameha, destructo disk, final flash, etc. All of those moves were used in DBZ so why was it ok for them to “reuse” those moves but not final atonement? I loved the flashback, but I hate the version they used. Best version was still Buu: "You look tasty, I make you chocolate, or maybe even cracker and cheese." Vegeta: "Fool. I'm going to crush you and throw you into the wind." Still gives me chills.

I like it narratively. If you take the flow of the battle: Jiren is uncomfortable with how his fight against Goku and Vegeta together is going, so they switch it up to get Vegeta off Jiren's back. If Goku is defetead before Jiren, it's over. Jiren was taking a calculated risk that Frieza and 17 combined can do less to help Goku than Vegeta (probably accurate, considering they don't appear to do anything at all while Vegeta fights Toppo). For Vegeta, the more time he spends fighting Toppo, the more he is playing into the 11th's plan. Throughout the fight, he escalates quick ways to end it, eventually reaching Final Explosion. Would he have won the fight if he continued it how it was going? Almost definitely, but he wants it over ASAP. Was it smart to blow himself up? Probably not, but he also wanted to prove a point. Also, it was nice to give the Final Explosion a big win. Vegeta winning the fight against Toppo quickly like he did was the worst case scenario for Jiren's plan there, which is why he's upset at the end.

It was called the final atonement in the Buu saga but if you think back, Vegeta performed the same technique in saiyian saga. After Gohan got his tail cut off Vegeta used that attack or one almost nearly identical. It even used up a large amount of his energy. He commented they didn’t die because he didn’t have enough energy to finish them off.

I like how Toppo is not “invincible” like Jiren, he just has very strong defenses w/ his grappling techniques for up close combat and his destroyer armor keeping most energy attacks from working. There is a way to get around him, you just have to use your head when facing him

It’s just the level they are all at now. Plus no one is truly going all out too, they cannot kill so they have to keep their power just enough in check so they at most wear their opponent down. It makes sense for the saiyans, they literally get more powerful, more up for it the more they fight. 17 has infinite stamina. Frieza is also much like the sayians except he is a prodigy.

I think Vegeta's final atonement was still meaningful, it showed us he was ready to sacrifise himself again, he had no idea whether he will survive it or not. Also it showed us how much Vegeta improved, how stronger he is, because he was able to survive it. and I think with this move he really step up to Goku's level. Without this move and knocking out Toppo with it, they all would have been f"cked.

I can understand why you had issues with the Final Atonement being used in the tournament. I don't think it was wrong to include it in the flashback. Piccolo qnd Krillen were there when Vegeta sacrificed himself to kill Buu. It makes sense that they would be worried about Vegeta killing himself. One thing to remember is that Vegeta surviving the final atonement is due to the mastery of Ki he has achieved through SSBlue and Blue evolution. It's because of this mastery that it allows him to survive the FA. It shows Vegeta's growth as a person and a warrior. In the past when he sacrificed himself he was still overly prideful and self destructive. His mastery of ki came less from learning proper Ki control and more from pumping up his muscles. This lack of mastery was why he ended up dying during his fight with Buu.

I don't think I dislike the technique because it was reused or lessened the impact of the original. I think I dislike it because it had intentionality in Z. I think it was the culmination of Vegeta as a character, ultimately realizing that he had caused a lot of hurt and suffering and wanting to make it right by sacrificing himself for those he loved to stop Buu. I think it should have been a one-off moment for the character. Here, it feels like another attack i.e. Final Flash that just has a lot of power with no repercussions. They could get the same result in other ways.

Really??! Maybe you need to rewatch the episode. Or maybe you need to comprehend better… Vegeta wasn’t criticizing Toppo for “using destruction energy,” he was criticizing him for giving up all of his beliefs and all his ideals just for the sake of wining. That’s his whole point. You don’t sacrifice who you are to get something like that. You use your beliefs and ideals to drive you to that point!! That’s why he was criticizing Toppo. And then when Vegeta does finally get his Ultr Ego form, he hasn’t sacrificed who he is as a character at all!!

i think the final atonement meant less in Dragon Ball Z because Majin Buu wasn't actually killed by in this this it meant more because Final atonement the reason they Toppa was thrown from the ring so to me it was great that they brought it back because they redeemed the move and made Vegeta the S**T when they did it

I really wish Vegeta's final atonement in DBZ resulted in Buu's death. I understand that it would have cut the saga short, but it felt like he should have finally got a win there. I'm glad they brought it back and actually threw Top out of the ring

If Frieza can use telekinesis to throw rocks, why can't he use it to throw enemies out of the stage? They can't fly, so this should be easy way to win even with Jiren. Similar with Goku, he could use instant transmission to throw enemies out.
