The thing is: Mr Satan IS actually a good and strong fighter. He didn't won the torunament for nothing. But... all the former competitors like Goku, Piccolo and Krillin are SO MUCH stronger then him. Even when they were Kids, Goku and Krillin fought against the world elite AND former champions. The training of Muten Roshi is simply to great to be compared to any other martial arts teacher.

Something that’s definitely worth noting here: Yes, Mr. Satan is insane for challenging Kid Buu. Yes, he would easily and unquestionably die fighting him with little effort on Buu’s part. But please notice the ever so subtle character development that happened there: Mr. Satan, effectively the last human alive for showing kindness to Buu prior to his metamorphosis, was willing to take the L for Buu to protect him from Kid Buu. Regardless of how scared he was of Kid Buu, he still stood his ground for the sake of someone else. Even if it was briefly.

Mr Satan is also a fraud. He got his fame and money from lying to the entire world. You also forget that Satan became friends with fat Buu out of _fear_ because he knew he couldn't use martial arts and so his plan was to blow up Buu which he actually went through with but when the explosive had no effect on Buu, he friended Buu out of his own survival and self-preservation. The pink mansion that Satan paid for, that was Gohan's money. People donated to Satan thinking that he ended Cell but it was Gohan who ended him. It annoys me to no end that people forget these things. Out of all the humans to be the sole survivor, it had to be the one with the most flaws. Tsk.

Krillien used to be a trickster who’d play dirty to get what he wanted. Yamcha used to be a desert bandit that used to rob people by assaulting them. Tien used to be with the crane school which taught students how to be brutal-and possibly criminals. Piccolo’s goals used to align with the evil king piccolo’s goals of destruction and world domination. Vegeta used to be pure evil until he was tamed by earth. The androids where programmed to kill goku, but now they chill with him. I can keep going but I’m sure you get the point.

vegeta hands down is the most durable z fighter given the amount of beating he takes in every fight throughout the series and still manages to stand up. he also has the largest ki reserve among all the z fighters which has been confirmed by picolo i think. picolo and king yemma both have also stated that vegeta is the better tactician too.

One thing to keep in mind for DBZ fights, hanging back and attacking with ki will drain you faster than physically fighting. You’re using your own energy to launch them, so it’s exhausting to do it too long. Vegeta likes to launch a barrage of smaller ones a lot, not sure if it’s to conserve energy or just his version of raging out, but it’s kinda his thing.

Vegeta's performance here is a massive W if you remember how SSJ2 is a fourth the strength of SSJ3. Kid Buu is warmed up to around SSJ3's level by this point, but even then he couldn't keep Vegeta down. _And_ Vegeta even managed to land a few hits. around 8:30 that's a mistranslation from the english dub, in the og and the manga Vegeta tells goku that he shouldn't hold back for his sake and goku says that he hasn't been holding back and has been trying to eliminate buu from the start but he hasn't had the chance. then he says "maybe we acted too cocky! fusion should have done it!", plus he says kid buu is the one that dragged the fight on purpose for fun, not goku. afterwards goku says that if he had one minute to charge hus ki to the max he might be able to get rid of buu.

The problem with SSJ3 is the same Trunks had back then when he fought Perfect Cell: these transformations consume huge amounts of energy. That's why Gotenks fusion only lasts for 5 minutes when they go straight to SSJ3 and that's why Goku's time on Earth was reduced significaly when he fought Fat Buu. Now with a living body Goku can not keep SSJ3 for very long time, thing that he was able to do when he was in the otherworld.
