Sometimes the editors give good advice, but sometimes I regret how they altered what Toriyama really wanted to do, in particular for the last arc: pushing away Sangoku and Vegeta to let the new generation handle the problem was an awesome idea, the logical continuity of the Cell saga. Especially since Sangoku and Vegeta (actually, Vegeta above all) gave a very good last performance before passing the stick. And especially considering Sangohan was factually the strongest saiyan (apart from fusions, because Vegeto was really on another level). But well, Sangohan just wasn't popular enough.

Not gonna lie - the Buu Arc is definitely rather lengthy and messy when it comes to tone and pacing, but there are a handful of amazing moments, and the Arc does have one hell of a satisfying payoff in bringing the Arc full circle by not having Goku, not Vegeta, and not any one person defeat Buu, but rather, the Earth itself, and those who inhabit and defend it, proving that when hearts and minds and efforts are all united and push towards one goal, it’s not only possible, but achievable.

I get that, but per the scaling of the show, human power levels are 5, 8 billion times 5 is 40 billion. The end buu saga characters are in the hundreds of trillions atleast, so they really shouldn't have had any useful amounts of power to contribute. Should have been a universal spirit bomb, since buu was a universal threat, all the beings from all the planets at risk contributing would have been alot cooler. Same thing with trunks and fused zamasu, the human energy he absorbed shouldnt have been close to relevant for that kind of a battle.

My favorite theme of this whole arc is the evolution goku and vegetas relationship. They started as neutral rivals when goku came back and then had the most emotional/personal fight when vegeta went majin, then put their differences aside to fuse, and worked together to beat the powerful villain ever at this point. They basically became true brothers in the end. Appreciate re-living this with you Aimin! Hope you check out more movies and gt, I know super is coming haha

Anyone who thinks gohan could beat kid boo and thus to them the arc is poorly written and criticize it for making goku the hero again over his son and not having gohan involved is dumb because they all forget that boo can just turn gohan into candy or absorb him or you know instant transmit away as kid boo....gohan can't just hit him with a full power beam like he did vs cell...so he never could kill kid boo or super boo....sorry gohan fans you know it's true...this arc is amazing actually....its not as flawed narrative wise as gohan beating cell was...it gave actual character full circle arcs for mr satan fat boo and vegeta from the start of their journey this arc to the end....and also gohan power did help beat kid boo..in the spirit bomb so...checkmate gohan fans....it just took everyone else too do it...gohan alone thus could never kill kid boo for good...

In Japanese, there are multiple different versions of pronouns for referring to one's self and others, and which ones you use is determined by how you want it to come off. Whether you're being casual, formal, aggressive, or something else, there's a specific pronoun for that. As an example, Japanese Vegeta frequently uses "kisama" when talking to others, especially Goku. "Kisama" is a way of saying "you" to someone else in a way that implies severe hostility and contempt. Needless to say, Vegeta really doesn't sound like a good person to the humans.

The thing is, judging an attack purely on how many people they've finished is dumb, because by that logic, the Death Ball would be the most powerful move because of how many planets Frieza has destroyed with it... As for movies, I understand they are not Canon, but lets face it, it is hard not to include them as some of the best moments in the entire series are in them , I think it's fair to say that they should be included even if they aren't Canon. Tien literally trained his whole life & continued to get shit on throughout all of Z & all of Super. He literally got 3 episodes in Super. Fighting weak Frieza soldiers, his TOP recruitment episode (that actually turned into a Roshi episode), & quite possibly the worst episode in the Tournament of Power Arc, by charging head first into a sniper attack & getting eliminated. A guy who forced Roshi to retire in DB & yet now is weaker than him. A guy who is weaker than Krillin, despite never giving up training his entire life, when Krillin quit fighting TWICE in Super to the point he was getting hurt by ammunition. Super even has the balls to heavily imply that the Solar Flare was Krillin's move & doesn't even mention Tien. Yamcha is now a comic relief character, but for as much as Tien has put into the series, he gets the littlest in return & shit on the most.

Gotta say I really enjoyed your reactions during all this, Aimin. If you ever get to watching Dragon Ball GT or Dragon Ball Super, I can’t wait to tune in! GT is still fun to watch since its fights kinda go back and forth in intensity while also keeping similar pacing to DBZ. DBSuper meanwhile is noticeably better at everything due to being made later though, so you’ll enjoy the up in episode quality if and when you get to it. While I’d also like to see you enjoy Xenoverse 2’s story now that you’re finished with the Buu saga, I’d have to encourage you to also go through a bit of Super’s story considering - aside from Beerus - there are a few DLC story additions that reference Super. I’m glad you enjoyed Dragon Ball Z, and I hope you enjoy everything else in the franchise!

There is 1 thing GT does way better then Super though and that's concepts. While Super has better quality a lot of it's forms, characters, and story are honestly kinda garbage. Re-skinned forms, generic to boring antagonists, and sometimes just infuriatingly lame plots. GT had great concepts however. A new primal transformation that Goku earned in a far more emotional way then any Super form, at least 2 interesting antagonist ideas both with motivations beyond just "mortals are evil" or "power is all that matters", and an entire story set around karma and the character's pasts coming back to haunt them.

@@alphawolf7417 While I agree that GT’s story arcs were extremely original (barring the Super 17 arc because why is that a thing?), I believe the same can be said about Super. People already call all the Super Saiyan transformations re-skins due to primarily having only color differences so to me the god transformations are a non-issue. As for the characters, I see each arc after the first 2 movie arcs as just a means to introduce new characters and unexplored concepts. (I personally hold that the Future Trunks Arc is the best arc in all of DBS considering it deals with time travel; I’m a big fan of the Crossover/Time Patrol stuff so the whole “time travel getting abused” thing and the Xenoverse 2 connections are beautiful to me.) What with people having the idea that Goku & Vegeta will always win because they are strong, the Super arcs worked because they played around the concept that the protagonists COULD lose. Additionally, each arc gave us more characters capable of fighting on a comparable level to Super Saiyan Blue Goku & Vegeta - and that’s another plus in my book. The explanations/reasoning for most of Super may thus be simple, but I believe that a good majority of fans simply appreciate that the fights are interesting and that they fit the plot. 👍

@@jesusdiaz4305 I suppose. I just don't find Super all that compelling. It's entertaining don't get me wrong. But so much of it just doesn't make you feel invested. The Universe 6 Tournament is ok but it's only really thanks to Hit who is by far the best character Super made.....and given his lack of actual screentime that's not 100% a good thing. Zamasu and the Future Trunks arc had so much potential but it just felt like Toei/Toyotaro kept shooting themselves in the foot over and over. Zamasu feels like an edge lord trying to imitate Cell with his perfection bull crap and pulls a rip off Ginyu on Goku but without any of the charm Ginyu or Cell had. Goku is at his dumbest in this arc, the good guys retreat 3 freaking times and faster them any other retreats, and they only win cause of a lame deus ex machina. Worst part was they had the perfect opportunity to tie the series to Xenoverse/Heroes and they still blew it and instead had Trunks and Mai live in a world with another pair of themselves. And the Tournament of Power......yikes. I love a lot of stuff in DBS but I think people give it to much credit just cause it's the shiny new Dragon Ball. And the excuse I hear many give is "well at least it's not GT".

Well, you cant really compare the power from the Spirit bomb vs buu and the one vs jiren. Against jiren it was just the energy of the universe 7 fighters while against buu it was the power of all humans, namekians, kais, otherworld and perhaps also from other planets. So vs buu it was by far more powerful.

Toriyama actually does not hate Vegeta, in fact he is one of his favorite characters along with Piccolo, said by him in interviews, that he hates Vegeta is false, it is not real. Favorite Toriyama Characters: 1st Goku, 2nd Satan, 3rd Krillin, 4th Vegeta/Piccolo.

It’s been quite a journey! So vegito could have wiped buu but with vegito not around they never stood a chance because Buu was just the manifestation of evil and only the spirit bomb was the answer to buu’s deeds!!!
