Interesting, I gave you feedback that baking powder is not in the recipe you posted below... I return to see if you have replied, only to find my comment deleted! Why? I unsubscribe with thumb down... you only reply to positive messages? 🙄
@matthewsguyanesecooking46012 жыл бұрын
I did not delete your comment, I also did not see a previous comment. That is my mistake that the baking powder was not in the recipe. I will update that now.

That’s not phoulourie. Phoulourie is not Bara. Please distinguish, Trinis make phoulourie and Guyanese make bara. But whatever you made looks good.
@matthewsguyanesecooking46012 жыл бұрын
I don’t know who taught you that but it’s not factual. Guyanese people have always made pholourie too
@Csi8072 жыл бұрын
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 well if that’s the case glad you are schooling them because the hundreds that I have met and are related too didn’t know what a phoulourie was until we told them. They only knew about BARA. Trinis make Saheena and Katchourie as well, I wonder if Guyanese made that too.. lol
@matthewsguyanesecooking46012 жыл бұрын
@@Csi807 Guyanese pholourie is traditionally made with soaked ground split peas and is firmer and more dense while Trini pholourie is usually fluffier and more flour based. Guyanese bara is fluffy and has spinach in it while Trini bara is plain and is made flat for doubles. Trini saheena (with the chopped pieces of spinach) resembles Guyanese bara in some ways. And Trini katchourie usually has the texture of Guyanese pholourie (but it is usually made flat). Very similar ways of cooking between these countries but interesting on the different variations and names. Just my findings. Some Guyanese depending on the region and village do not make certain items too so maybe that’s why
@Csi8072 жыл бұрын
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 Trinidad has 2 versions of phoulourie: yellow split peas and flour. Both are round and yellow in color. It’s good to know that certain regions in Guyana don’t know about this. Now I know why they are clueless at times. Thanks for clearing that up.
