Another vegetarian source of collagen (not vegan) is eggshell membrane. Very easy to make yourself. Boil the eggs and instead of throwing out the shells, strip away the white membrane that's attached to the inner side of the shell and eat it. It's a source of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin . There are a few companies that sell eggshell membrane (NEM), but it's easier and cheaper to make. Boiling the eggs doesn't denature the collagen. Collagen isn't denatured until around 500F. You can also use the whole shells as a source of calcium.

The supplement industry is much like the beauty/cosmetic industry. They are simply trying to sell as much product to as many consumers as possible. The thing is, most of the claims/promises on the majority of those products have no validity and the companies are banking (literally) on people's desire to obtain a certain goal. I don't buy into it (pun intended).

White Chinese bird'snest mushroom or also called snow fungus is also super packed with collagen. It's sold at local Asian grocery stores and looks like a sea sponge. It is vegan it's a mushroom. Soak it in warm water for 15 minutes then cut off the tough yellow parts. Boil in large pot with adequate water until the water is syrupy. I usually season with a vegan bouillon ginger and pepper, fresh green scallions on each portion. Stores in the fridge for a week. Also really awesome if you have an upset stomach or sore throat avoid putting in black pepper if sick though.

I am a 25-year-old girl and I'm getting into skincare and mindfulness so your videos are like a Godsend :) I wanted to ask you something and I really really hope you understand where I'm coming from. I'm wanting to start on retin-a soon and I was wondering if you ever explained/talked about that little brown spot you have under your right eye ( I think). Is this sun damage? Why do you think your skincare didn't help with that? Or maybe was the spot caused by the treatment? I really hope you understand why I'm asking - I don't want you to think that I think the spot makes any difference in how beautiful your skin is - it's just I'm curious and trying to know as much as possible before I start using Retin-A myself. Hey Jennifer! Fellow gemini here :} I have been using castor oil on my eyelashes for two weeks and have noticed that every day I lose a few eyelashes, researching on the internet says we lost about five eyelashes a day, but I had never noticed it before. I don't know if it's because I'm handling them more often or if I'm probably clogging my pores. I researched this and they said it is likely that I am putting too much and too often and they suggested mixing with almond oil. I'm freaking out a little now, I want so much long lashes ... should I try to mix the oils? They say almond oil has the same effect, should I try pure? Did this happen to you? Do you have some insight? thanks and sorry about misspelling etc I don’t usually speak/write in english.
@dreamof_me4 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m not Jennifer but I’ve had that problem. Maybe be a bit gentler with your eyes? But otherwise I don’t think you have anything to worry about. If you lose eyelashes, it’s possible you don’t notice since it stays in your lashes until it gradually falls out. Whereas when you are massaging that area, you might notice it more. Personally(if you google before and after vaseline, jojoba oil, etc on eyelashes), I think any oils help eyelashes grow better. I don’t think our eyelashes like to be dry and brittle and that’s what helps them grow longer and stronger.
@Gabriela-ej5ew4 жыл бұрын
Ginny D Thanks!
@JenniferMyers4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Gabriela. A little oil goes a long way, in my experience! I use 2-3 drops only, for both of my eyes. I use that small amount to not only massage my lashes, but spread the oil and massage all around my orbital (eye) area. I've been doing this for years, because my line of reasoning is that that nightly oil massage to my delicate eye area is beneficial for that skin, which it definitely has proven to be. I've never personally used almond oil (or any other oil besides 100% castor), so I wouldn't want to speak on it. Good luck!
