I always found it interesting how Vegito refers to both Gotenks and Trunks as "my sons". Not "our sons", or "Goku and Vegeta's sons" but "my sons". He's got the identity of both Goku and Vegeta....which makes me wonder a little how he views Chi Chi and Bulma. "Okay Chi Chi, you get me on Wednesdays, Bulma gets on Saturdays, and the rest I get to train in the gravity chamber."

In the original Japanese dub, he's actually baiting Buu to absorb him, so that he can rescue those he's already absorbed before he destroys him, but in the Funimation dub (the one you're watching) the lines are slightly altered to make you think he's not expecting the absorbsion, although you do hear him say "Ok, this had better work", which is presumably him referring to the barrier he shields himself with, just as he's being absorbed.

Just a heads up: In the original Japanese dub, Vegito had the plan of gettin absorbed by Buu. When Buu prepares to absorb him Vegito put up a barrier and said something like “Now’s my chance” or “here we go.” Point being, the dub changed his line before getting absorbed to “blast it” like he wasn’t expecting it

Vegito is basically Goku's unpredictability allied with Vegeta's calculated thinking put together. Then both powers are added together and multiplied. This isn't just a 1+1 thing, the fusions between Goku and Vegeta (be it Vegito or Gogeta) aren't called the "ultimate warrior" for nothing, there hasn't been a villain so far in the series who can actually keep up when they join like this provided they actually bother to try - if a villain actually manages to do anything it's because Vegito hasn't gone serious mode yet. If nothing else, they were nerfed in Super just for them to have a viable weakness.

Well, it is just a 1+1 but the 1+1 is counting their strongest form solely on the fusion base form, which means gogita/vegito base is the same as goku blue+vegeta blue or rn in the manga goku blue+ vegeta blue evolved (yes, SSBE is in the manga). He faked out Buu. This was Vegito's gambit all along, to get a free pass inside his body and rescue the others that Buu absorbed. And like an idiot, Buu fell hook, line, and sinker for it. For having Piccolo and Gohan's smarts, Trunks' and Gohan's arrogance (and potentially Goten's naivety) really clouded Buu's judgment there..

When your done with Z i would strongly suggest watching the original Dragonball series. I watched it after watching Z and it was still so good, It has an amazing classic anime style, and the comedy akira wrote is so full of memes before their time, in my opinion its aged very well. PS. The Japanese Soundtrack on dragonball also feels like its an amazing step back in time to what anime looked and sounded like in these early days.
