Really smart use of a tool box like this to keep those smaller things accessible right from the top. Nice touch with the reflective tapes. For winter driving, I'd recommend having small shovel and some kitty litter to dig yourself out and get some traction in case you get stuck.

Great kit! I saw that toolbox at Walmart and *almost* bought it, now I will definitely go back to get it 😁 Brilliant idea with the magnet on the lid, I will definitely do that!

Great kit. The problem I have is how to have water in winter. We lived our first 60+ years in Wisconsin. Now we're in the Missouri Ozarks. Even here you can't leave water in the vehicle overnight for a couple of months. Water can really only be taken as you depart & must be removed when you stop for any length of time or get home. Maybe an insulated gallon jug filled with hot or warm water? In warmer weather I keep a 5 or 6 gallon Jerry jug of water. It saved me when I blew a radiator hose. Gorilla tape & water allowed me to drive 20 miles home. It was a weekend when almost no one is open.😖

A possible solution to storing water in the winter is to remove ~1/4 of the water from your container and store it upside down. So when it freezes, it has room to expand and when you flip the container right side up, assuming all of the water did not freeze, you can still pour liquid water out.

Safety vest and gloves should be on top not buried in bottom, good kit.

Great kit, just make sure to lash it down and secure it in the vehicle. Loose gear and tools can kill in a rollover event, crushing heads and breaking necks. Ask a first responder. Easily preventable.

Absolutely. We keep ours in the “stow” area in the rear of the van.

Excellent kit!!! We are going to have 2 of these toolboxes. One is for car stuff, and one for personal emergency stuff. We might have one for our apartment too.

That's a thoughtful, solid load out for you and family. I do similar in a get home bag, leave "car stuff" in a tool bag under by truck bench seat. May I add something for medical, coming from my paramedic background? If not already done, add a few tourniquets/pressure dressings/chest seals in case of severe trauma. It doesn't need to be a GSW that causes it, severe trauma happens at other times also. I keep that stuff in my get home bag also. It's great you have hygiene stuff, especially for kids. I have feminine products for my wife, if we were to have our nieces with us also.

Surprised me seeing money in the kit. I’ve seen some people who have all the top of the line tools and gears but don’t put any money in. I carry 120 dollars all in tens. Good for emergency gas when a station doesn’t do card ( and yes not all gas stations have machines for cars especially really small family gas stations you may find on the off roads most will but not all)

So true! After my wife left her wallet at home, and needed gas at 11pm one night, I vowed “never again”! It’s also been good for festivals, side of the road farmer market, and giving away to people who are in need. A MUST-have item for practical daily living.

Thank you! I got the toolbox from Walmart for around $12-15, I was looking for a specific toolbox that had the top sections that can also open for quick access. Here’s the link for the one I used. www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-Tough-19-Inch-Toolbox-Plastic-Tool-and-Hardware-Storage-Black/38498863?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1463&adid=2222222227838498863_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-293946777986&wl5=9015814&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=38498863&wl13=1463&veh=sem_LIA&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIpy-YV9JaPLSt2us98_5HRlg&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIpy-YV9JaPLSt2us98_5HRlg&gclid=CjwKCAjwiuuRBhBvEiwAFXKaNLDLEpJTlbUJLxG9Y_P0y9cxXR4vMjR0E9UmObwC9QLkswYUENBZ0BoClDoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
