Veilguard First Impressions After 28 Hours. NO Roleplaying AT ALL

I just gave up on the game there is nothing worth playing through..... Combat is a worse and less satisfying version of DA2, choices barely exist, 0 impact, bad designs, the quality of the writing is all over the place and often horrendous, trying to ape the modern Marvel/Disney banter, mission design is atrocious, level design is reliant on following a blue marker the whole time. What a disaster. PS : Diversity will always be welcome in fantasy games, so this is not the "issue" whatsoever with this game. That being said it's hard to deny some of the writing has been extremely immersion breaking and amateurish when it comes to it.

@Slaythe I forgot to mention the mission design, so far there have been far too many really basic filler side quests, even for companions.

@@ScottyDGaming Yeah it's somehow even worse than what Mass Effect turned into. I genuinely don't understand. Just go there, put rock in hole, follow blue marker, that's if you're lucky. Otherwise it's just ... go there, kill enemies, bad dialogue, go there, kill enemies .... Oof. Which yes, Mass Effect was a "worse KOTOR" and then ME2 made it worth but gave us stellar writing, companions and world building, with production and action to make it work. 3 was when things started going off the rail but attachment to the existing universe carried it and they made up for it with DLC / updates. This Dragon Age can not rely on nostalgia, and doesn't do anything special. Production values are great though, it's a very beautiful game. Cartoony style kinda grew on me but most of the designs are horrible. Far cry from what we had before. DA1 and 2 companions were amazing and gave BG3 a run for its money. Veilguard is ... probably the worst party I have seen in a western RPG. Until Avoved lol, which somehow looks worse.

nice vid btw scotty do you usualy use dls in graphics option on your gaming laptopt if yes wich of DLS mode do you use or is it recomended to be turned off on gaming laptops

@@Robertlengyel91 I only use dlss if the game doesn't hit 60fps without it, then I use dlss on quality.

to put it simply you dont have much impact in the world, there is the illusion of choice, but it wont really do anything, everything is linear you can not RP in Veilguard unlike the previous titles, i still have a playthrough in Origins where i did an asshole route only and end up alienating the companions into leaving i have to finish the game with just me and the Dog.

Wait to you get to the end and regardless of what you chose through out your play through it dosent matter This is not a bioware rpg game choices do not matter. Bioware is not back.

tbh why didnt bioware make a tactical RPG like first DA title instead? RPG games have been so saturated with action-based RPG ones lik VG that it gets boring.

Most reviews say basically the same thing... that it is mid-tier, a 5/10 (note that some would consider a 7/10 to be average, probably due to influence of the US school system's grading scheme, and if you rate that way, then you're looking at about a 6.5/10). They generally praise the environments, how smoothly it runs, and hair physics; diss the dialogue, the hand-holding, and lack of RP potential; and call the combat passable, but not great. Basically, the same stuff you have in this review. Overall, I'd say most (youtube) reviews that don't use the term "woke" or "dei" rate it pretty fairly. Of course, you do have the anti-woke crowd, but they are mostly just preaching to the choir and/or celebrating the game not doing well, plus some review bombing on sites that don't require you to have purchased the game, and you have the "game journalists", who don't understand that the game isn't remotely worthy of being a game of the year contender, nor an 8/10, 9/10, or heaven's forbid, a 10/10 game.

@Axterix13 this is very well put. I would rate the game a 6/10 so far with the combat carrying the game for me. In no universe, dimension or otherwise is this game a 9 or 10.

I 100% agree with your review - this is currently a 7/10 game so far (20hrs in). It feels like a Disney movie with childish dialogue, with the graphics and fighting being the only saving graces

You do know what you are playing started life as a free mobile game right? The dreadwolf game was scrapped for being to dark and would have been like origins with the tactical party combat. Spent $10 upgrading horizon zero dawn to the ps5 remaster way better use of my money than buying this DEI LGBTQ propaganda vehicle.
