Just finished the game as a Crow Spellblade romancing Lucanis. I brought Lucanis with me often and his many gear pieces and traits that reduces defense or accutes sunder boosted my damage so much that with mana generation passives of my own I was able to spam abilities non-stop in many fights. Any second companion worked well with us, but I preffered Bellara's Galvanized Tear. (Special mention to Neve's tornado freeze.)

I've got some type of Warrior/Champion build going with fire/burning and high stagger and really enjoy Bellara and Harding for their healing and combo's. Plus who doesn't love two girls with bows watching your back. I just get in their and blast off abilities and perfect blocks and they just support me, honestly feels really good. Plus you get them early and both have good interactions with each other and everyone else.

​@Draconiangem Not liking the look of the game after preview footage is just as valid as you liking the look of the game. Having a negative opinion doesn't make anyone a troll, just like you having a positive opinion doesn't make you a shill. The issue is that EA have been caught out refusing to give certain reviewers an early review code even though they invited them to play the early access. Basically anyone who said anything remotely negative at all in their preview videos have been denied a code while those who spoke positively all got one. This is why we have seen loads of good reviews from the ones given early review codes. Regardless of anyone's opinion of the game (I don't have one personally), this tactic of curating early reviews so only mainly positive ones are seen first isn't a good thing for gamers.

Envoker wants a Warrior, so I'd say Davrin. He can detonate or set up for you to detonate. Next is up to personal taste. If I had to min max, I'd say Nev for her cold resistance lowering.

Question. With the Spell Blade specialization will you still have the reach to get some kind of healing ability? Videos I've seen don't look like you can get anywhere near the knight enchanter specialization style.

You don't have a self heal outside of very select gear pieces and your potions. Your companions can fill that role.

Bellara's healing ability, if upgraded to have the autocast, will auto cast even if it isn't in your 3 selected abilities. The same applies for Lucanis's enhanced damage ability.

Thanks for content. Going to be Duelist Rogue on 1st Playthrough. Three questions: 1 - Where we can find your Necrotic Rogue build you mentioned with the picture in this and previous video? 2 - Planning to go with Neve and Emmrich all the time I can. Are they works good with the Duelist Rogue? 3 - Does it means that other companions didn't get any exp except while do their personal quests and we forced to play with them often to level up them?

Great video and awesome to see Harding is perfect for any and every build playstyle out there. I'm planning on going Rogue Rook for my 1st playthrough and will probably bring Harding and Taash as my main compaions, but till I get Taash it'll probably be just Harding and Bellara. Still not sure what spec to go with my Rogue since Veil Ranger no longer seems appealing in my eyes like your typical archer / ranger rogue spec. So might just go straight melee dual wield.

I haven't even started playing yet so that I could create and build a _(perfect)_ Rook focused on the companions and romance I wanted and I think I finally made it, which is: Evoker Rook with Neve and Taash as my main companions. Also using Harding when switching one of the former two is necessery, then completing the Detonating Triangle. I also had already chosen my faction (again with your help and @Norzza) as Shadow Dragons, which I guess benefits both Neve and myself, right? AAAAAAAA I finally can begin 😭🙏🏼 rly tysm

Crits are based on having some condition met, such as having chilled applied, overwhelmed, or burning already applied to the enemy. Took me many hours to understand, if the game explains it it's very brief/glossed over.

Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, but affliction build based on the lightning skill at the top of rogues skill tree works well. Basically use the companions to apply all different afflictions, and you increase stacks of all the afflictions.

I was thinking of going Mourn Spellblade for the extra afflictions with lightning and Fire primarily. So probably one of the warriors and bellara since she has lightning and heals. Do you by any chance remember how you got her as a hero of vanguard whilst also having her hardened. For me, ive completed her entire personal quest arc, but she still doesnt have the hero of veilguard. Idk what im missing, becuase thats all the game says you have to do to get the status.

If you harden her you have no choice in hero of the veilguard passive and armor. You can only get one of the options if you dont harden her

My guess is it's a holdover from when the game was live service. The idea being that to prevent solo players from cheesing their grindy live service structure the ai companions do very little damage. Of course in that scenario the solution was to play with other people and thus sell more copies, however they changed course to a single player game and had to rework their existing systems. That's my guess. The whole combat system looks so mindless and repetitive like a lot of live service games.

What a contradiction. The gameplay is whatever, but given that they said they wanted it more action based, holy micromanaging. I mean frick, they said companions would be fleshed out and fully automated, hence why they got rid of controlling them-BUT YOU'RE STILL CONTROLLING THEM! LOL Also why do so many of them just stand there and do nothing? I swear I saw every companion do 1-2 hits and then dance around the enemies or back up...what even is this game? 😅

Not only are the party members (specifically the females) ugly I don't understand how we went this bad from DA 0 and mass effect trilogy where even the aliens looked good, I see little reasons to go full build teammates characters when they can't even die. This throws a whole level of challenge out the window, no planning or building is necessary for survival except your own. That's a huge lost, might as well be an action game and go god of war route.

@@Goldussst dark fantasy as in the broodmother boss and storyline, the grey warden fortress and its messed up experiments with demons and corruption, the template having a meltdown and you being rhe only thing to save the makes from being purged, the betrayal of king at country in ostagar and the way King Cailin was propped up as a trophy by the darkspawn. Best examples of what I can remember off the top of what made that game dark fantasy.

And then you have Veilguard , where they recorded over 140k lines of dialogue , and people are handpicking a couple lines and then say: see , there this is proof that the whole game is lighthearted and goofy. Anyway we'll see.. the game is out in 2 hours. Oh and btw , there's a very good chance i have more playtime on Origins than the supposed "old schooler" and im excited for Veilguard

@Goldussst very possible, after playing video games for 35 years one tends to lose track of how many hours one had put in, that said I do play through Origins and the Mass Effect trilogy at minimum once a year, so who knows. I do agree that there are lighter moments but the game was predominantly dark to me. As far as veilguard? It doesn't seem to be for me, but I'll watch the gameplay (no commentary) to see how it goes, then decide whether to buy or not. Glad you're excited for it, everyone needs something to be excited for!

DAV will sell well initially. Its the long term decline that happens after people have played and word of mouth happens. People dont trust reviews. And want to see for themselves while playing. But after that i fully expect a massive decline. Regardless of the EA/bioware damage control. The game is solid story and gameplay wise. But the political bs and DEI/pronoun and none binary crap is extremely off putting in a medieval fantasy game. Its borderline preachy and in your face too. U cant really avoid the bigger parts of it, as i originally hoped.. its really bad.. despite that garbage being forced into the game, i still somewhat enjoy it. I would give the game a decent 7/10. But hey thats just me being rational. 🤷‍♂️
