as far as Thrash metal goes this is a magnum opus for the genre in my opinion. however if you are not a heavy metal or thrash enthusiast, you probably won't like this.
@LoneWolfR18
@LoneWolfR18 8 жыл бұрын
I personally don't think you have to be a thrash enthusiast to like this album. That's what imo makes this album so good. I wouldn't consider myself a metal enthusiast by any means. In fact this is only the third metal album I've listened to with harsh vocals on it if thats saying anything. I just love the fact that there are parts of the album with harsh vocals backed with clean vocals and vice versa. It's very creative and I've always wanted a metal band to test that idea. Vektor did more then test it imo.
@libraryofpangea7018

The only reason i made that caveat, is that most people who are not into the heavy metal spectrum tend to be turned off of thrash/black metal etc- by the vocals.

Gotta disagree with ya on this one fantwon. This album is better than both Black Future and Outer Isolation. Recharging the Void is the best song they have ever written, and there isn't a single dull moment on the album. They are still as visceral and aggressive as ever before and just as melodic. 9.5/10 IMO. Only complaint is David needs to work on his cleans a bit more.

@@lucasbrucas9632 David DiSanto is still the main songwriter. The abuse allegations turned out to be overexadurated and mostly incorrect, but not to all extent. There has been a lot of bullshit that has been said about David online by people who did not do their research and there's maybe another part to the story that's outside our knowledge. If you want to find out more about that/read the sources there is a discussion on metal archives where people that personally know David and even his ex wife Katy come through with arguments.

@MarceloZ2 4 жыл бұрын
@joshrm yes, but Fantano always made clear that the ratings are how he personally feels with the album, so it's not nuts to assume that some 10s he likes more than other 10s, hence the need for a "light 10" and a "strong 10"
@MarceloZ2
@MarceloZ2 4 жыл бұрын
@joshrm no, bruh, you thinking this way too objectively. Yes, a 10 is a perfect score, but all opinions are subjective. You can rank something obectively as perfect and still like another thing you ranked as perfect more. Because *opinion is subjective,* otherwise it would be literally impossible for one to make a ranking.
@MarceloZ2
@MarceloZ2 4 жыл бұрын
@joshrm then, with this logic, it would be impossible for one to rank, from worst to best, the albuns of bands like Radiohead, or Pink Floyd, that have a near flawless catalogue, simply cause "all of them are perfect, therefore, impossible to like one more than the other".

I actually set down last night and listened to this album in it's entirety, while reading along to the lyrics. I've listened to it casually before. I felt there were amazing moments, but I honestly didn't care for the vocals. After giving it an in-depth listen while reading along, I was completely blown away. It's the perfect sci-fi commentary for the age we live in. I hate using the term "tight" when referring to music, but in the context of Vektor it makes perfect sense. Beautiful stuff. I'm off to check out their earlier work.

hey buddy. thanks for helping convince me to start my own record collection. you've really helped in the pursuit of finding interesting artists and expanding my range in music. I'm really grateful for the Dope Body tip btw, they became one of my favourite bands. I like my music coming from a raw place. ok the ketamine kicked in like 40 mins ago. wow ok well this took way longer than I wanted. just wanted to say I think your a great guy who makes awesome videos. you're like the pewdipie of music yet somehow you're actually entertaining to watch. keep up the good work bud

great review Anthony! Glad to see this one up here, I've been a big fan of Vektor for some time. Cool to see they're really exploring a more conceptual side, my copy just arrived today so I'm excited to tear into it!

The female backing vocals appear more as a retro hippy era feel than "sci-fi". This is a very unique aspect. I would have mentioned more about the drums. The percussion is key and unique. Yeah it sounds like the words are crammed in on Cygnus Terminal .. though if you listen the rhythm.. key into the guitar.. the lyrics uniquely gel... The feel I get is the characters desperation being delivered as its them speaking.They are a real feature. I would say that Vector are not simply the most interesting band in thrash. they are one of the most interesting bands of all genres. They deserve more than 8 for this.

Definitly one of the best metal albums of the year this far (along with Obscuras Akroasis). You should check out the new gorguts EP wich showcases a kot of technicality and interesting lyrics.

this album definitely deserved a strong 8 to a light 9 in my opinion. That said, your criticisms were well founded. We disagree sometimes, but your reviews are always great and informative. I might disagree with you, but I always know why we disagree, and to me that matters. You are always clear about the elements that you dislike. Keep up the good work.

Terminal Redux sits on a mountain, side-by-side with Dreamweaver, made of the corpses of failed and lame concept albums in metal. First time in years I've gotten high and listened to an album start to finish in one go with lyrics on hand.

I have a question that sounds stupid but I want an answer. Anthony reviews a lot of bands and listens to a lot of music. How can I possibly know when new albums come out so I can listen to them? I want to listen to something new as often as possible but I never hear of any new albums coming out

+Will Aguirre I mean this is just me, but I look at metacritic sometimes to see what's coming out soon that's getting hype and frequent allmusic and look through the reviews they do every friday and pick out stuff I find interesting regardless of the score (tho it's prolly gonna get a 4 for some reason). dunno if it helps, and mind i'm pretty inept when it comes with mixtapes unless you're like Chance and dropping the news on Jimmy Fallon, but it helps me keep up with stuff in general so far. me 2 cents
