The movie .." kaliyattam' was so excellent ; despite its is labelled as a muted screen-play of the world renowned drama - 'Othello', penned by William Shakespeare, probably in 1603, as "The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice", its full name), set in the contemporary Ottoman-Venetian War (1570-1573)/ 'war of cyprus' fought for the control of the Island of Cyprus. Jayaraj only wrote the screen-play but dialogues were by Balram Mattannur for the movie directed by jayaraj . Kaithapram did magic in his lyrics of all songs in he same. The actor Suresh Gopi was lucky to be honoured by national and state awards as a best actor by this 'magnum opus' of Director Jayaraj.!
