Velipojë, Shkodër - 🇦🇱 Albania

Velipojë is a village and a former municipality in Shkodër County, northwestern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Shkodër. The population at the 2011 census was 5,031.
Velipojë is situated on the estuary of the Buna river (the only navigable river of Albania), where it flows into the Adriatic Sea while constituting the natural border with Montenegro. The administrative unit of Velipojë has a population of around 10,000, spread over several small settlements, the largest of which is the town of Velipojë itself. Since 2005, Velipoje lies within the boundaries of Buna River-Velipoja Protected Landscape.

Hello i have a question regarding Velipoje or Shengjin which place is better for a weekend for a family with small kid, and which beach is better? Thank you

The best beach is the area called " Rana e Hedhun" further Shengjin town, the little bays before reaching the long stretch of sand at the main beach of Rana e Hedhun ,right down the hill of the town. Shengjin's town beach used to be good before the crowds ( communism), now it's too crowded and not good for my taste. The nightlife is good though... If you compare Shengjin town beach with Velipoja, in my opinion Velipoja beach is better and there is lesser wind than Shengjin. As for nightlife, I've never stayed overnight in Velipoja beach, so I have no idea how is the night life, but I guess it's the same, good. If you enjoy walking, you can walk from Velipoja beach to "Rana e Hedhun" beach. It is on the same beach line uninterrupted but keep it in mind it's very long...... The sand in Velipoje is thicker that the one in Shengjin town and you can shake it off easily from your skin. It is the same sand with the one of little bays on Shengjin's hill and because the sand is a bit thicker, the water is crystal clear and it doesn't get muddy or murky even during the big waves. These little sandy bays for me are the best beaches in the whole Albania, kicking even Albanian Riviera's a.., because they are SANDY beaches with crystal clear water and.... I've been in all Albanian beaches. I don't know about the night life though, if you stay in these little bays's hotels. You need a car to drive in town for the evening or you need to walk in a not very good road.
