Hi Alina! The city of Shkodër / Shkodra, Lake Shkodra and the surrounding scenic mountain landscapes are incredibly beautiful! And there is much to explore here: the history of Shkodër / Shkodra and Rozafa Castle date back to antiquity. Ideally, summer is the best time to visit, but this region is always captivating and beautiful. I love the winter sunset imagery. Alina, thanks for creating and sharing this well-crafted video with us!!!

Most Albanian nouns have definite and indefinite forms. Definite: Shkodra, Indefinite: Shkoder, Shiroka/Shiroke, Tirana/Tirane, Vlora/Vlore...
@liljanasufaj16434 жыл бұрын
Alina you have the best pronunciation of Albanian names from all the Yotuber's travel bloggers that visited Albania. Others usually " massacre" Albanian names, but with you I just can't find a single mistake.👌 By the way, Shkodra has a lot to see outside of town, but you need a local to show you where to go and most importantly WHEN to go. Lastly, you are a brave girl to visit the castle in the afternoon all alone, not because someone might attack you, but it is such a big and isolated place that can freak you out. Cheers from Albania!🇦🇱

We legit check to see if Alina has been to a place so that we can make sure to (try to) pronounce the names correctly. Not sure if we ate at the same restaurant she did, but there was not a lot open 2 weeks ago when we were there. Lots of the businesses in the area were sadly closed due to the overflow of Lake Shkodër and the rivers. We also shone our light down into the deep pit in the Amphitheater. Didn't miss much. It basically just comes to an end. But it is really creepy!

I love the fact that you also seem to enjoy applying makeup because I am too! I always have this battle in mind that a traveler should be an extreme minimalist, but having traveled for 7 years, I learn that my skincare and makeup routine are things that ground me while on the move (if that makes sense?) hahaha. Sorry for the nonesense! I enjoyed this vlog, Alina. Thanks so much for all the hardwork!

Hello Miss Mcleod! Greetings from Austin TX. Today I looked through KZbin to find some videos about Shkoder to show to my son which is born in Austin and never seen Shkoder. My family is about 6 generations from Shkoder from fathers and mothers side. Actually a part of the video was the gigantic tree which is 100 or so years old called Cinari. My 700 year old house is 100 meters away from Cinari. Great posiitive video. By the way safety is never an issue for anyone in Albania especially for tourists. Safety is a problem for people that have a beef with someone else. You indeed can pass for a Shkodrane ( girl from Shkoder). So please feel home and hope you had a great time.

Great video as usual Alina, I know you are a tube vlogger, time and money is a focus,it's just a shame you don't have someone along to show you around a bit more,anyway on the Shkodra topic, this City has been majorly influenced by the venetians, its history goes way back, even before bronze age,yes used to be the capital city of back then Ardiaei ( today's Albania), and was a City of the lot of merchants armongst all regions, look no further but the geographical location, that alone tells you something, plus there is ancient history that backs it up,furthermore yes you find modern as well or a mix of both as you mentioned, prices are very competitive compare to other cities,yet you get a lot and quality for your money,bikes and walks are cultural, almost everything is organic and very healthy, Shkoder is blessed with its outskirts produces, makes a complete sense to be spending time in Shkoder,both in winter and summer, I'm amazed nobody talks about Velipoje beach, the biggest in Albania with a very curative sand,also the best in Albania,it's beautiful and you or others should go during the hot season, you will be surprised how beautiful yet affordable is,has been way overlooked from the ytubers, anyway hope you don't get tired with my comment, I just felt there is a lot you and others haven't been told at least, and then some,last in Albania and especially in Shkoder,We don't harm,rape or do anything bad to a foreigner, let alone a young woman,our consciousness doesn't allow that,you are 100 pc safe in Shkoder, yes some ppl might incidentally stare at you bcs you are beautiful, however in Shkoder and in whole Albania, albanian women are also beautiful mainly,so I said it,I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year, stay safe and fingers crossed 2021 will be the turning point from this horrible so called pandemic, looking forward to Theth, cheers and thank you for promoting Albania in your best,have a good un and all the best. Edited, if you could only speak Italian in Shkoder.

The legend that you're talking about is part of the "Bugarštica" or "Бугарщици", which is a form of epic poetry tellings that were very popular during the Medieval times in the Balkans. As you can see from the name, they originate from Bulgarian folkloric songs that later moved to the Western Balkans. In Bulgaria, we have many legends for some historic places that are similar to the legend for the Rozafa castle (the idea of the sacrifice for a successful undertaking). That's yet another proof for our close bonds and influence over these parts of the Balkans!

Couldn’t follow the live feed but this is super nice! As an inhabitant of a small mountain town, I can relate to the picturesque surroundings of Shikodra. You really feel the weight of history how up to modern times, several civilizations have left their mark on Albania. Seeing the bust of Constantine in Berat, that it was still there, shows the history. Just as well one wasn’t also at Rosafta Castle. I have the feeling things will turn around in the Balkans and Europe in 2021. Safe journeys!

Yes!! I thought I was the only one who felt creepy when visiting that castle 🏰, view is amazing, beautiful and happy I was with my husband, the time we were there, sun was setting and oh how the view was! Breath taking but ones you turn away from the sun… every dark hole, dark place you see and some I don’t know but like dark sound 😅 so hard to explain but I guess my husband knew I felt creeped out that he started telling me that we should stay longer to see the ghosts, the residents of the castle and plus the story of the woman who was basically killed alive inside a castle wall. He said legends say the walls cry, you can literally see the walls tear (water) and that’s where one of the kings wives was put. That’s the only thing I remember of that story.. kinda hard to explain a story when your first language is not english so that’s what I understood 😂 but glad you loved that city and happy to know I am not alone about the creepy feeling part.
