@@kevincairo8917 not the op, but as an indian we were not offended by cartoon characters having indian accents as kids and teens. We found it funny and felt represented. Maybe the over the top indian accents weren't always funny, but we got it that its a joke and even if it annoyed me at times, its still a joke and we can take jokes. The whole cancelling characters because they'd "offend" other races is wild to me. Because this getting offended thing is very much an american and western concept. The rest of the world mostly has thick skin, and can take jokes (unless they've been influenced by american leftist agendas and started subscribing to that viewpoint) So to answer ur question, i find it ridiculous that they erased apu

It seems to me the 'fan' who grew up identifying themselves as 'velma' types grew up, and no longer liked that identity, so now they are trying to change it. Instead of her being the 'awkward, brainy' teen, she's a 'plus size queen' and full of snark, etc. They've changed the character, because they realized they didn't like her identity anymore. They're also race-swapping characters for no other reason than the fact that they can't get past a character's race to identify with them. I think too many parents used race as a way to discourage their children to become too interested in characters they don't like. I think it would be interesting if they made another show with new characters who fit into different demographics that could have crossovers with the Scooby doo gang. Maybe a Scooby cousin who's 1/2 chihuahua or something.

Velma is a cartoon character with no significance unlike the Harlem globetrotters which is based on race, which is the reason they even exist! Everytime a huge company or cinema changes the character of a character with no purpose at all to even exist, except to make people laugh some type of color is all in your mouth: whether it be black, white, Native American, Hispanic, why are you so OBSESSED? You act like black peoples said “make Velma black.” Why are you trying to offend a race that didn’t even decide to change her character? I’m not even black, I’m Asian, but to see the obsession and race debate over a stupid, worthless cartoon character that is not created because of their race, is so dense. You people want to be offended at everything so bad, but yet you’re the face of the world, that of course was stolen from Native Americans. You inspire me to want to change my major, because now I want to become a neurosurgeon and see what the hell is in people’s brains that are LIKE YOU. At the end of the day, I hope you stay mad overall, or cry tears of blood because of this. Be emotional and cry in your car about it, or seek professional help. You sound very obtuse. Asians can be Scottish. Scottish is an ethnicity, and anyone can be that ethnicity. Why are you saying Daphne isn’t Scottish anymore, when that isn’t her race? Any race can be Scottish..

There was a funny update to the whole gay thing recently. The Velma twitter account actually revealed that Velma has a crush on Fred, meaning they took away the gay part, making the SJWs just as angry as everyone else who hates this show

If you look into it, they look like they are not only race-changing and orientation-changing. When you go to the wiki, it seems like they are planning to make the gang a POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP. Like I’ve been aware that people ship all of them but that’s usually dumb fanfic. Now, they seem like they wanna bring this to life. This is what the wiki said: Velma likes Fred Shaggy has a crush on Velma Daphne might have a crush on Velma They describe it as a “love quadrangle”. Bro, we aren’t mad that characters are a minority of race or gay, bi, etc. We are mad because you grabbed something original and changed it to call it real representation. Just make original characters. Not that hard Hollywood.

@@fluffyspark798 I agree. But the reason why it’s okay for shows like that or the Owl House to have LGBTQ+ characters is because 1. They are original characters (not older characters changed for the sake of “representation” 2. What they are doesn’t define their character Characters in both those shows still have their own character arcs and their sexuality doesn’t define the character. That’s good representation. Treating your LGBTQ characters as actual people rather than just “Look. They’re gay. That’s enough rep for you.” I can’t believe a kid show and independent web series on KZbin can do a better job than any of these people can 😂

It's sad that instead of making new interesting tv shows and characters, movie and tv show producers just change everything that people loved about an already existing show, and the characters in it. I also find it very annoying that the entertainment industry is making everything political, to the point that there are no longer creative, and new ideas. The lack of creativity in the entertainment industry is sad.

Kinda surprised you didn't bring up Twitter's BIGGEST concern with this show, the fact that the VA posted as Velma that she has a crush on Fred. For many on the left, it's a step backwards. While I don't agree with that pairing as a fan of the original show, I'm just glad they aren't making her have a crush on Daphne to which, by the way, the girl you pointed out missed that they switched her ethnicity too. They made her Asian and, apparently, she has lesbian parents in this reboot. Fred is the only one who gets to stay white.

The Scooby-Doo franchise as a whole is supposed to be 4 teens and a dog who solve crimes. While I do agree that maybe Velma was more of the female persuasion, that doesn't mean we can change her to fit what makes them happy. Why not create a whole new character? What makes a good character is not what is centered around their sexual attraction but who they are as a person.
