Velocette | On the KTT
So this is a short video for people not wishing to endure my really long rides of continual speaking and riding. This video i decided to compile some short snippets to make the video even shorter but cover more ground and i do not speak, i can hear me say something at a junction but its not audible so i left it within the video as like i say i am trying with this video to see if me not talking is favourable to some viewers. However i shall continue to make my rides with talking as i prefer to watch vloggers who have spoken content within the ride but that's my personal taste.
The audio you are hearing is from within my helmet so you can imagine how loud this bike is and if i ever get a decent microphone that can record external audio next to the pipe that will be even more insane.
I really hope you enjoy the riding experience of a 1930's British race bike, i enjoy the ride and enjoy trying to have others with me on my ride virtually via KZbin.

It sounds great, even with your helmet mike! Is the speedo accurate? The Mk IV should have a top speed around 85mph, I believe, so you’re well within that in your videos according to the speedometer. What it would sound like flat out…I’ve been very busy, so I haven’t had time yet to comment on your video regarding realisation of your dreams, but I do have quite a few comments to make when things get a bit less hectic. A couple which come to mind just now: I believe that you thought that the LE was a two stroke, if I heard correctly. It was actually a horizontal twin side valve. I owned a really nice Mk III when I was 19, but found that while it was smooth and quiet, and handled very well, it was lacking in grunt. What could you expect from a 200cc side valve! (The first models on the market were 150cc - even worse). They were ideal for pottering around town, or riding in flattish country, but long hills were a drag. Also, there was a Mk VI KTT, but only one, and it was a works bike rather than an over-the-counter racer which could be bought by anyone, like the Mks I-VIII. It was basically a KTT with a Mk II KSS cylinder head.

Hi Neil I did notice i had created many more KTT videos without many comments from yourself so glad to hear you are just preoccupied and not just disliking the vids. I did think the le was two stroke so glad to know its not but i guess its break through designs were water cooled and the frame but again iam not sure about the le much. regarding the speedo iam unsure and couldnt possibly comment as the roads i am on probably have slower speed limits than what my speedo was reading, i use it as a guide. I have noticed that the odometer does not read at the same rate as the trip clock. From the sounds of the mk6 ktt i would not be keen. i guess for me it would be nice to have a mk5 i think it has an extra oil pump or something and are rarer than the mk4 i guess. I am currently considering ajs 7R or matchless g45 or g50, but no funds to realize that dream unless i sell some stuff.

@@velofan. I absolutely love your KTT videos. We’ve had workmen in for a while now, and by the time I’ve spent all day dealing with them, I’m knackered. We have a week without them now, so I hope to catch up with things. The Mk V KTT would be a good one to have. When the great Stanley Woods started riding for Velocette, he found that the handling of the KTT at high speed wasn’t up to the standard of the engine, which he considered to be superb. It then transpired that other works riders had been having to wrestle with the bikes round fast corners, but hadn’t had the nerve to tell the directors, who seem to have had a reputation for not taking criticism well. They listened to Stanley, being a rider with an excellent record and reputation, and redesigned the frame to bring the engine further forward. If you look at the vertical seat tube and the down tube angle of the Mk V and compare it with earlier Marks, you can see the difference. Velocette use the Mk V frame on the Mk II KSS and the MSS. I owned a 1938 Mk II KSS in 1968, and the steering and handling were superb. I remember riding with my pal from his house in Pennington. He was riding a 500cc Royal Enfield twin. I took my hands off the bars on the downhill ‘S’ bends, and rode it round the bends just using knee pressure and shifting my weight. It cornered as though it were on rails, to use a well-worn cliche. My pal, who was following, tried taking his hands off the bars on his Enfield, and only just managed to recover from the immediate tank slapper and avoid disaster. That’s still fresh in my memory after 55 years!

@@velofan. FWIW, the speedo isn’t clearly readable. I’m just aware of the white line denoting 30mph, and guesstimate from that, but the needle disappears from view after about 40mph. I have a Bonniksen speedometer which I removed from my Scott when I sold it, and I may fit it to the Velo- if it’s ever finished 🙄. The Scott had a 19 inch wheel, while the Velo has a 21 inch. I’ll have to check accuracy against an electronic speedo to see whether the skinny Velo tyre compensates for the smaller wheel diameter, but fatter tyre, of the Scott. If you’re not familiar with Bonniksens, it’s worth doing a search on the internet to read about them. They’re really special.

@@neilfoddering921 Hey Neil Yep not heard of Bonniksen speedo, will check it out, but i like my bike to look original when ive parked it up and people come to check it out. I did want to fit and will do to my KNS project whenever it is done a bicycle speedo one with a large display and large number as it works off gps so wheel diameter wont be an issue. Ive just got back from my ride to lyme regis and am compiling the next KTT video however i feel its going to be my worst efforts so far as ive had to just put loads of very short clips together tor educe the length of the video and also the microphone wasnt working on way there but works ok on way back so get bike noise but none of what i was talking about on the way to lyme. But anyway its another ride.

I think the bike sounds ok on the videos, the under load soundtrack is quite addictive, but probably not quite nice enough on the audio track, in my opinion, to justify you keeping quiet all the time. So on balance I prefer you taking on a topic at some point during the ride. I think it will foster some discussion in the comments, if sufficiently controversial, and therefore advance the channel as a consequence. For example, My Ducati 900ss ie(Fuel injected) sounds absolutely orgasmic in reality, but so far I haven't been able to capture the true tonal quality of the over run bellow. If I ever do, there will be no need for commentary, but until then I need to up my own game to make a ride video remotely interesting. Just my my take, for what it's worth. Like mine, I think your channel has a distributed subscriber base, and therefore, your bike video viewing figures do not reflect your channels overall success. Do you think you may also have handicapped your channels success by making taboo comments elsewhere on KZbin? I have, and I'm sure it affects your channels growth. Not that I expect my second rate content to be setting any records, but the inconsistent analytics are bewildering, human intervention can be the only explanation. In your case, I think the KTT is literally the vehicle, for your personality to do the talking. My advice is therefore, stick with the chat, and keep pushing out the content, you will hit critical mass eventually, if you maintain momentum.

Thanks Mark. So my next video will be the opposite of what you and Neil are encouraging me to do which is stick with the chat. I think on one of my videos you jokingly said you could not match my ability to talk bolox whilst riding so i kinda did over think this a little and think yes sometimes i dont have a strong subject for content mainly because most of the ones i would pic would be highly controversial and get me into trouble. But my next ride i did have four of vie decent topics to talk about but realised my aim was to have a shorter video than the 3 hours or whatever it was of riding. So i spoke but my helmet mic was not getting it not sure what happened maybe the cable wasnt not properly inserted so camera resorted to camera mics just dont know, but they worked on return leg however as i thought i had recorded all my talking topic content on way to lyme its missing. Save the topics for another day its fine. The issue with my chanel is my subscribers are mainly for the music albums i upload. so because i have diversity in my content of bikes, music, drums, guitars etc i dont have many people watching the bike videos although that is actually my main focus.
