@rollercoasterryan78164 жыл бұрын
From someone who designs coasters, pacing of the first test run depends on the manufacturer. RMC's have a flat, solid track leading to minimal friction, whereas Intamin's track design leads to sound waves bouncing inside the track, creating a frictional vibration in early testing. However I totally agree with you in that longer trains does lead to less whip, and it is hot in Florida. I think the pacing will not live up to expectations, but will also not be as slow as currently. And also one of Intamin's testing protocols is rollbacks, so most of these rollbacks are probably on purpose, although I can't be sure! Great video, and I hope people will enjoy VelociCoaster for what it is when it opens to the public!

One thing I can say with it’s testing is Florida has been pretty cold throughout the past couple of months. Iron Gwazi tested in March when it was 85+ degrees. Honestly, I'm fully with you on this one. The pacing looks off. I'm extremely doubtful of it's airtime moments being strong, aside from the top hat from the extreme ends of the train. And I do think this could push the coaster down a bit in the rankings. That being said, taking the inversions slow will lead to better hangtime, and I could very easily see those moments becoming some of the best moments of the ride.
@Coastoons4 жыл бұрын
Hang time is the only thing that this coaster will benefit from the slow pacing
@noname117spore4 жыл бұрын
@@Coastoons Yep. I could see this coaster feeling a bit like Copperhead Strike but a bit faster and less consistent between the elements. Good "hanging" elements, like the dive loop, zero-g roll, and zero-g stall, and the occasional good airtime moment but with them few and far between. Copperhead is definitely a good coaster but it's not really competing with something like Fury or Steel Vengeance. Still my favorite launched coaster of the ones I've been on though (note: that does not include Maverick, but does include Lightning Rod) I need to look at Velocicoaster element-by-element with the speed it's going at and make a prediction as to how good they'll be (and post it somewhere). I remember making personal predictions with Orion but didn't post them anywhere, and I called the "wave turn" lacking airtime or forces before it opened, but since I didn't post them anywhere I didn't get to bask in the tiny glory of being right on the internet. That being said, I didn't expect the helix to be intense like everyone is saying it is.

Thanks for the shout out! VelociCoaster definitely wont hold a candle to some of the world's greatest coasters, but it'll definitely stand a chance against what is (and was) at Universal Orlando. I think fans are just happy to see a real thrill coaster come back to the parks, and if it has a chance to be as good or better than Dueling Dragons, fans will be happy. I think this will be the perfect coaster to round out Universal's line up. They have at least one coaster for everyone now, and paired with their other attractions, now there's genuinely something for everyone, and ultimately, that's what Universal needs. Side note though, I honestly feel like VelociCoaster will live up to the hype better than Iron Gwazi will. People are expecting the next Steve but in Tampa, and although its going to be an insane ride, it won't compare. Steel Vengeance is twice as long and will most likely have well over twice the airtime as Iron Gwazi without sacrificing its pacing and layout. Again, don't get me wrong, Iron Gwazi will be amazing (and probably the best coaster in Florida) but it won't live up to the hype of dethroning one of the world's greatest coasters.
@2kthrills1684 жыл бұрын
Actually there are plenty of enthusiasts that feel like Iron Gwazi is better than SV. Even if there are enthusiasts saying that SV will remain the best coaster in the world, They may change their mind after they ride Iron Gwazi. I think it's going to come down to preference. If you're into balls to the wall intensity with back-to-back elements non-stop with no brakes in between then I think enthusiasts will lean towards iron Gwazi. If you're an enthusiast that likes airtime and a lengthy roller coaster with less positives, then SV would be ideal. You can argue that SV has that out of control feeling however the elements tend to get repetitive especially towards the end. Iron Gwazi on the other hand throws so many different things at you and each element is different from the other. Therefore I feel like the consensus may be split within coaster community on weather SV or IG is better. Which is fine because in my opinion there is no definitive number one coaster. Because there's always going to be a large group of people that think otherwise.

I just rode it today. I can assure you... it does NOT disappoint. The ride provides so much hang time. It doesn’t have to go fast for it to be good. It goes at a slowish twisting pace for the first half where you are supposed to be inside the raptor paddock. It focuses more on head chopper elements with the rocks and even the raptor statics. The second half starts at the top hat element where it focuses more on speed. It’s a great combination of immersion and coaster. It’s arguably the best coaster in FL. I see your point about it being super hyped up that may lead to disappointment. Though I feel like it serves its job. It’s not supposed to be a behemoth like Fury 325. Boy that didn’t age well. I genuinely think this ride is the best in the world and that SteVe and Iron Gwazi won’t hold a candle due to restraints and layout.

This is the best rollercoaster at islands and universal. It's definitely not slow. Everything about it is so good.
@floridamaddogg4 жыл бұрын
While it does look slow now, it's probably best to go with the "wait and see" approach. As an engineer, testing goes thru various phases. It's still touted to be 70mph top speed and none of the testing looks to be 70mph, yet! I've done flight testing on helocopters and we always build up to Vmax. And with this having two controlled launches, lets just wait.

Nice, my YT recommends are full of "why Velocicoaster will be the best", and then comes your video XD But I like it

Yea. We all knew the best ride of 2021 would be Kondaa...

Yea I disagree with this now, I’m much more excited for Pantheon now

I think It’s ok. I think it had the ability to do so much more in the story department. Like the amount of foreshadowing of the velociraptors being these cunning hunters didn’t really play into the entire Jurassic World aesthetic. Something has to go wrong. Roller coaster is lit as hell. Just thought a bit more story elements would make it amazing.

Let see, everything about this video was completely wrong. Got off the coaster a few days ago and it was more thrilling than any other coaster I’ve been on except Fury 325 and Lightning Rod (I haven’t gotten around to Steel Vengeance).

To all of the babies that can’t tell that this was 5 months ago and opinions change with literally everything else in the world, then please click on his channel and watch the updated analysis of this roller coaster. I personally saw a lot of valid points in both videos so just check out the other one before crying in the comment section

It literally just opened up to the public and literally everyone is raving over how good it is- Yeah it's good, but it's not the best

The train hardly makes it over the air time hill right before the 2nd launch, i noticed this in one of Midway Mayhems vids, also looking at the speed hill, it barely isnt straight track imo

My main argument is that legit no one has been on this roller coaster, so why are we judging what the ride is going to feel like? Yes we can assume things, but none of us know what its actually going to feel like.

I still wonder about those videos - it was the same with Taron - everybody was like, its overhyped and it will be so boring - and after the opening they all went quiet. How will you know if I will like the coaster or not. Even i´m not on the hyptrain I think this coaster will be awesome in the full package.
@cindernotfound30743 жыл бұрын
Ok so they r purposely not putting it at max because they dont want to wear it out in the testing stage and it's just testing. I haven't seen its top speed of 70mph. So dont judge a book by its cover. Hagrid has a long train and great pacing. This new roller coaster will have great pacing and its just testing. Thank you for listening. Sorry if this comes across rude

Glad you pointed this out. The test runs do in fact look sluggish/slow.

As a person who just rode this during Passholder previews, I will say it did not disappoint. It feels fast and with the lack of over the shoulder restraint it feels much more intense. It does have one or two sections that whip you pretty well, which I personally don't like. I think some coaster fans think whipping is cool when it actually feels jerky to many normal non coaster fanatics. The queue was great, pretty minimalist when it comes to materials used, but its done well. The animations in the queue are great. I honestly do think this is one of the best coasters out there because of the theming. It probably wont be your favorite if you think a good coaster is based on how extreme it is. By far the most well themed coaster I've ever been on.

I could be wrong, but I think the first half is going to be more floater airtime than hangtime, with the second half really being the star of the show. A lot of the vids of the first half with fully loaded trains seem faster too...additionally, it probably will feel faster than it is due to all of the rockwork/theming elements you're flying through/around - it's one thing to watch from outside the paddock, but diving through everything and in and out of the caves is really going to add to that sensation of speed. I'm intrigued by what it'll be like going from highly themed spaghetti bowl to the larger elements of the 2nd half too!

I think you hit the nail on the head!!!! The FIRST thing I thought to myself was this train is too long and the pacing looks off. I’m not the biggest fan of Iron Gwazi’s elements, as I think they could be better but it WILL be a top coaster simply because of its pacing.
@Coastoons4 жыл бұрын
The length makes sense because it universal but at the same time, if they knew they were gonna have super long trains they should have designed less tight elements so the pacing wouldn't suffer

i’ve never been on a big coaster. my biggest coaster is probably big thunder mountain at disney world. i’m not scared of them, i’m just not a fan of that sinking feeling when going down drops. however, velocicoaster has caught my attention and i want to go this summer to ride it along with other coasters like hulk as my first big coasters
