I'd be interested in how low my bike would hang down on my van since the hitch receiver is so low. 🤔 I've got a 29er Pivot Firebird (Medium). Probably the same height as the receiver?

I've been looking for a new bike rack. I've had my eye on the Saris SuperClamp EX 4-Bike Hitch. But I can get this one with 5 bike capability for the same price (a little less with your discount). I really like the hydraulic tilt mechanism idea. I also like the garage storage concept. Some questions I have - is the 7-bike unstable on the highway? Can my Suburban 1500 handle it? I'm pretty sure the 5-bike rack would work well enough on my Suburban (it's a 2004 with a 2-inch hitch). There's no weight limitations or detailed specs on the web site. At least, not on the mobile site (my work place blocks this web site for some reason). I'm definitely checking into this further. Thanks for sharing, Tess and Steve! Also check out www.1up-usa.com/ (built in USA and all aluminum). I have one of these and it is awesome, but the most you can carry is 4 bikes. The Velocirax rack is pretty interesting and looks well design. I guess you will have to compare to see what you really need.

Free Range MTB Looks like the 5 is rated at 230lb. Your 1500 will more than handle that. 7400lb if towing. And even at GMC suggestion of 10-15% of a trailers weight placed as the “tongue weight” you’ll be fine. www.gmc.com/gmc-life/trucks/why-tongue-weight-is-important-for-safe-towing I wouldn’t worry. Unless your in a parking lot and looking to back up or park. You now have a much Longer vehicle now. I’m sure Steve will comment on all of this. He’s towed plenty of trailers

Yeah, being able to open the tailgate, or in the case of a swing door on an SUV, is fairly important, especially when you're on holiday with heaps of gear packed away.

@@diggydownunder1807 Yes, you can, but you have to pull the pin engaging the dampers to do so. You could also attach it to a swing-out tire hitch if you wanted.

Didn't the question of using it with Fat bikes ever come up during prototype evaluation? Or is the company going to make some type of adaptation kit to charge more money? It would really be a shame to get rear ended with that full of bikes! Looks nice though. May have to replace one of my Kuat's with one of those. I'll have to keep one of the Kuat's until the Fatbike issue is resolved. Love watching your channel. My family did Navajo loop lake last Sunday solely because we watched your video of that ride..:)

since the baskets are attached individually, I'm hoping they'll offer a fatbike version of it one day. In the grand scheme of things, the fatbike market is quite small, so most companies start out with what the masses want. I wouldn't be surprised to see an option for fatbikes down the road. It would just be a different size basket.

Website says there’s a locking hitch/receiver pin. If it’s anything like my One Up rack with that same type of tightening ball the pin would be about 5/16 (8mm). In order to fit below the internal tightening mechanism and still line up with any standard 2” receiver pin holes.
