When working up to these challenging pieces like this one what sort of things did you work on like pieces or technique before deciding on embarking on learning this?

Hi Stephen! Personally, I didn't work on specific technique before learning the piece. In my opinion, if you're an advanced player who has already played a good amount of marimba pieces and feel pretty confident/comfortable around the instrument, learning the piece directly and isolating technically challenging parts in practice sessions would probably be best! Also, a ton of slow practice for accuracy😉 Since the challenges (both musically and technically) of each piece are different, I don't think there are necessarily like pieces that would prepare you for learning Velocities. I hope this helps:)

Thank you for your kind words!☺️ I was 20 years old when I recorded this last year and I still find it challenging. While I have no doubt it would be a great learning experience for your daughter and it is certainly possible with long-term dedication/hard work, I do think intermediate-level pieces would perhaps be more musically rewarding for her age. 😃
