Got my kit in May 1989, before the Swings owned the company. First flight Nov. of 1991. I believe mine was the 12th kit made. Still own it and fly it in 2020. Fabulous airplane. My hats off to all the improvements the Swings made over the years.

I really like what they’ve done with the LongEZ design. The four seater / wide cabin is what hooked me. I’ve flown in the 2 seater Long and fell in love. Having the extra space for luggage, people, absolutely incredible.

today"s speed for a Velocity with a turbo engine is 271 Knots at 20.000 feet with a full Garmin glass cockpit and many knew great modern features..,for sure a fantastic plane.

@@thisismagacountry1318 correct this is 1980s licensed music from a music library called "Music Bakery" and post dates all those Adult releases. The Swings loved the production (I was the producer way back then) and helped to increase sales wonderfully

Since this video seems old, it makes me wonder what new technologies have changed the airplane kits they sell today. With composite materials including carbon fiber it could be lighter, stronger, and faster. With newer instrumentation it could be quite nice and much more informative. With better understanding of air flow the use of composites could makes the transition from fuselage to wing much better, making it faster and safer.

Faster? Not unless it is turbojet powered but you compromise on fuel efficiency. It can be made out of carbon fiber but it will make it just as expensive as a new Cessna 172

The velocity has always used composite materials. I don't see how the wing-fuselage interaction could've been improved, the thick root chord is mainly needed for CG and stability. Engine technology also hasn't changed. Mostly. For CFD aerodynamics you either need a ridiculous budget, or you get only rudamentary results that you already knew from equations. I honestly don't see a lot of ways to improve the Velocity trough technology, other than avionics. And maybe improving the looks. RIP Raptor on that front.

@@g.zoltan one improvement would be to have it pressurized. I’ve seen many Velocity videos and I don’t see people even using oxygen. At what point do you actually *need it*, for safety not just for regulations? The Velocity has something like a 25000 ft ceiling, I guess for most people that’s not attainable. Does it actually get more efficient higher than 12000 ft, would pressurization be very useful?

It boggles the mind why the industry is so doggedly conservative, these works of art were far more advanced and a far better proposition than Cirus ever was, long before Cirrus ever was yet I can't even count the high number of Cirrus and Cirrus type machines in any given GA and only occasionally see a canard. Given the choice between the top-of-the-range Velocity and the latest GT3 or Lancair there's no question it's the canard for me.

Maybe someday, we will own a Velocity XL with following: *dual side-sticks *BRS *VG's *Digital Engine monitoring System *Couple of G5's *Latest and greatest in sound/vibration dampening insulation *My own EDFJ hybrid power-plant design That's about it...for now.

Where's the video for the Velocity Twin? Want to use a twin turbodiesel setup for 220 to 300 knots while sipping 10-15 gph. Any way to increase the fuel tank while considering the CG and max load? It'll usually be 2 of us and 2 small dogs, occasionally 2 guests as well.

Is this not the type of airplane John Denver crashed in? Something about the fuel switches are behind the pilot seat that made it difficult to switch fuel tanks. . . . Its not made to glide if you run out of fuel? 🤨

Denver was in a LongEZ. A completely different plane.

That was a different airplane. The main cause of the accident was that Denver decided to do a longer flight once he was airborne, so he needed to use fuel from the other tank. But the plane builder installed the fuel selector valve in a place that was nearly unreachable, and John inadvertently did a maneuver that sent him to the ground. Had him stuck to his original flight plan, he would have not gotten into that accident.

There is a new video of Dwayne being interviewed at the Deland airshow in late 2019. It's on KZbin kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKSroHmIib99pJKN Yes, old video. I think the kid that jumps in the backseat must be Dwayne's grandson which according to the new video now works with his father and grandfather at the factory. Yeah, the CD player made me cringe a bit...along with the steam gauges. :-)
