Thank you for the video. I actually watched your video before buying the 10 inch version for cheap with the Humming noise hoping that I could fix it using your video as a reference. The issue was exactly the broken ground connection. I am not really good with soldering so I did not remove the jack from the main board, instead I cheated and used the smallest solder tip that would fit in that small opening and used some solder to reconnect the break. Worked out great, sub sounds great for music. I have an SVS PB 2000 for movies. Liked and Subscribed. Thanks Again

Night Mode basically reduces the output without changing the response curve, similar to knocking the volume down. The other 4 settings do change the response curve, I usually use Jazz setting as it's the "tightest". Unfortunately my SPL800R died. It's amazing as it also has a remote and room EQ mic.

I've had similar problems with disc's & labels, altho wasn't CD's in my case, kids had discovered label stash, decided to label everything with their name, and few DVD's were ruined as would no longer play due to top layer being removed by the horrid adhesive. Thanks for yet another repair vid! I'd never thought about checking the grounding had misdiagnosed it as ground loop woops!.

Re sub's i am now living in a row of terraced houses, so using a sub at even a low volume has the neighbours complaining. There must be a lot of subs out there that are just collecting dust.

@@12voltvids Those 12 inch subs can certainly move a lot of air! Even if you are in a detached house, low frequencies can be felt and heard a long way from the source. My neighbourhood has it's share of local boy racers with subs that loud my windows rattle.

@12voltvids3 жыл бұрын
That is east of Vancouver. No flooding here but a few neighbours who's homes are below the crown of the road ended up with water in their living room. I am built up about 8" above the road so nothing here. Also since I am near the beach it is all sand so the water just runs away into the sand. Abbotsford got hit pretty hard.

Hey. There is someone selling this exact unit, although it works. She's selling her parents equipment that was their surround sound system just as 'digital' was entering the market. She's got a Sony STR-DG500 receiver which says 'Digital Audio Video Amp' (I might be assuming wrong, but I'm thinking they're referring to upsampling. She's got a Denon AVR S540BT, and I thought it was interesting as a TV to separate audio, but I've tried to do that so many times I feel I cracked my head from banging it against a wall. I have a multitude of audio problems that are too embarrassing to admit, but my son wanted a stereo in his room, and that's how it started. Damn Marshall Bluetooth speakers.

Is that 60/40 you're using ? I'm surprised how easily it mixes with the solder on the board, which is unleaded right ? I've recently tried to fix a "modern" board that's got broken antenna connectors. Mixing the solder with the unleaded was a nightmare, don't know if I just got bad/cheap solder or whatever. I even bought a flux syringe to mix but it still wouldn't mix easily. Then I tried removing it all and resoldering but the 60/40 won't adhere to the pads! I think I messed / oxidized the pads too much with heat by now.... Have put it aside for now, what a loss of time....

60/40 if it is good quality will mix nicely with a hot iron.

B&W make some fine speakers. I've only heard one of their smaller bookshelf speakers and I remember being quite impressed by it. I can only imagine the sound you are getting from the towers. I'm sure you don't even need a sub anymore. My old ass KLH model 23's certainly don't need a sub.
@djijspeakerguy46282 жыл бұрын
Even my KLH model 32s (8 inch model) hardly need a sub at all. They have bass, they go low, it’s just not as loud, they are definitely a bright speaker, but work well with the bass turned up. I can only imagine the 23s, and I hear that the 6s are even better!

If the input jacks were previously broken probably by someone being hamfisted, why would you not reglue them down again to prevent it happening again?
@12voltvids3 жыл бұрын
The glue was put on by the owner thinking that would fix it thinking that that's why the inputs weren't working.
