Great video. No stupid music, and no KZbin theatrics. Looks like kind of a Pia but you make it look simple. Some people are good at this kind of thing, that being you, and some aren't, that being me. Curious if it made any difference as far as sound or performance. Thanks.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. I do try to make the videos so others can do the same thing themselves. This did make a big improvement in the intake temps and they showed a significant power bump from the cold air compared to the hot air entering the lowering intake flap. The performance for the money can't be beat.

It's great that these work with that too. Did you have to let them know that you have a SXTH intake? Does it have a different piece without the port that goes to the flap or does it come with a cover or plug?

Hey Jim, the gloss is from a chemical process called vapor smoothing, which is done to selective laser sintered plastics as a way to melt and smooth the outer surface, which helps seal it and prevent air leaks.

Jim, thank you very much for making this comprehensive video and for the honest feedback. We truly appreciate it! Just installed mine; your video helped. They got rid of the embossed GR and VT logo on the induction duct. The fit of the stock plastic push retainer clip is not great on the driver side. Doesn’t seem like it would go anywhere since it’s connected with the stock airbox, so I did without it.
@jimsgaragetoys2 ай бұрын
That's too bad that they got rid of the logo. I agree that the one push pin was difficult but I did manage to make it work. I was thinking the same thing though that it most likely didn't need them to work fine.

Can you show us where the bottom air is taken from? Is it right behind the grille? So no chance of hot air. Thanks so much for taking the time to record this
@jimsgaragetoysАй бұрын
I'm not 100% sure of what you want to know since I show everything in the video. At the 11:42 mark you can see both intake holes that bring in cold airframe the grill. One goes straight into the air box while the other branches from that tube down to the flap at the bottom of the OEM intake. Before this point in the video I show how that mount covers and seals the flap that previously allowed hot air into the intake. I hope that answered what you wanted.

The stock air intake on my circuit, didn’t have that gap like the core, I opted for the GR brand for my intake.
@jimsgaragetoys4 ай бұрын
Interesting, I've seen other CE and Cores that had the gap too. Not that it mattered since the bottom and sides were wide open on the OEM piece too allowing hot air in.

Hi Jim, Thanks for this video! Around timestamp 14:11 you said you had a clip (for the left side fo the red piece - instead of going under and using a bolt). Can you share which speicific clip that is, please?
@jimsgaragetoys4 ай бұрын
I always have a selection of plastic clips that you can buy on Amazon and eBay. They are cheap so I love having a variety since I never know what I might need, just like in this case! I'll add the one that will work in the description so you don't have to mess with the long bolt. amzn.to/4cLudw1

I've driven it about 40 miles so far but I haven't put it through its paces. I expect to notice a small difference though since it has shown increases in HP on the dyno and just getting colder air into it and not hot air through the flap makes a difference.

Literally the two parts you glossed over (seemingly on purpose) have taken me 40 minutes to figure out. The stupid ass reverse snap clip on the bottom of the airbox and the side grommet for the wire retention.
@jimsgaragetoys4 ай бұрын
Not sure what you mean by the reverse snap clip on the bottom of the air box. There is nothing on the bottom of the air box other than the pins that locate it and line it up. The side grommet for the wire retention is much like a lot of the other Toyota clips. You need to depress both sides and it will pop right out. I've taken that off so many times in different videos I've done that I don't give it much thought now. The first time you are removing any clip can be the trickiest but once you figure out how they work you will be fine.
