I've been debating this for my GR Corolla, and taking your notes and the technical data from VT's site, I'll be getting one for my car - purely to lower IATs. I'm not drawn to the looks of it, and will be going with black and on black, as I don't want anyone to see it - I'm doing this for technical reasons, not visuals.

Kern, I hope you still see my comment from this old video. I own a 2016 340i all stock with a MHD tune. I have a 12" Android Tablet I upgraded for the stock screen. I run my MHD on this tablet for an extra 8 gauges. I'm heading to the track to see what my this car will do (real world numbers) in 1/4 mile. I'm planning on buying a scoop for running at the track. Do you think scoops suck in water if its raining enough to get the air filter wet? That's my biggest concern. I'd be driving my car to the track 1 1/2 hours away and rain is in the forecast. More questions below. More questions about the intercooler cooling system. One of the gauges I have up on my dash tablet all the time is IAT. When first driving away from the garage the IAT is about 10 - 15 degrees F higher than outside air temp. Now if I park in the garage for anytime when I fired the car back up the heat has bled over from the main coolant system to the intercooler system. Start the car (already hot) and the IAT starts at 130F. It takes driving down the road for 5-10 minutes for the IAT to drop to a normal temp. I'm sure you can see what I'm leading into. At the track waiting in line, I will need the engine temp to be at normal running temp. But waiting inline the car won't be moving so the heat is going to bleed over to the intercooler water system thus when I line up and let it rip, the IAT is going to be way higher than it could be. When snowmobile grass dragging in hot weather, we would have a tank with a pump to flush the coolant system between heats to keep the engine from being hot (makes 10% more power cold). Is there a way to make the internal fan run continuous to keep the air flowing in always drawing cool air to the intercoolers radiator. What idea might you have to help have the lowest IAT heading into a 1/4 mile run at the track? I would think lower IAT will make a difference on my time.

Do you think they will actually make them for the 440? I’ve been wanting something like this. I thought about designing my own, with the intake dropping straight to the bottom of the vehicle. I have a BigBoost efr kit and would like a short ram setup to outside. Thoughts on that?

Is “Hot climate intake mod” stock in US? You have a grid panel on the intake wall, but mine is closed. I just noticed the airbox sucks air from engine bay and there is no direct intake from outside. I guess I should start with this mod see some gain.

it's all about increasing efficiency and headroom if you're pushing the stock turbo. so it just depends on your goals.

Think about it this way. They don't call cool weather "boost season" for nothing. Cooler air in means cooler air out.

Great little cars, mine just needs an LSD 😂. I'm in the UK. Weirdly, the M140i's sold over here draw air from the engine bay. I had to buy what was called a 'hot climate mod' to redirect the air duct to draw air from behind the grill (same as yours). Wondered if that was a European thing or did you have to do the same?
