Dropped on Alpe d'Huez!!

Alpe d'huez carnage then rode Col de la croix de fer. Really hard day on the bike, definitely didn't realise alpe d'huez was such a tough climb. Much steeper than expected. Now moved onto Chambery where we will be riding mont du chat and col du grand colombier and watching tour de france stage 9!

Eearlier this year I did Alpe d'HuZes, which is a charity event in which we ride up Huez....6 times in a row. It was the hardest thing I've ever done on a bike. I'm sure my average W/kg were nothing compared to yours, I paced myself serious on the side of caution.

Being a Dutchman and this being my first time there, I am a total mountain noob...I switched out my 11-25 for an 11-28 cassette (my short cage RD doesn't allow for anything more than that) and I thought with my 39 ring at the front, that would be ok.....not really! Almost everyone else I saw had the 11-32 at the back. Lesson learned. Still managed to complete the six climbs so there's that :)

BTW how did you manage to find decent vegan food in Bourg d'Oisans? Aside from the occasional pasta dish, the options were scarce!

yeah we had pizza with no cheese, all the gelato places had milk in their 'glace' as well which was frustrating! i think there's a supermarket there you can get cereals/soy milk/bread/jam etc might help in an emergency 😅 we didn't stay there though only had dinner after riding then drove back to grenoble!

yeah that would've been tough! i had a 11-32 AND a compact and found it tough while riding pretty hard!! kudos bro!
