Yet another exceptional book-a winner of the National Book Award-removed from school libraries. Thank you, Velshi, for bringing attention to these banned books, for your excellent summary of the content and value of these books, and for your interviews with their authors.

Velchi, thank you, thank you for this most needed Banned Book Club, otherwise I would have missed reading so many excellent pieces of literature!!! And the public needs to be informed how a minority of folks are trying to deem to the majority what they can and can't read!!!

It’s so sad to see so many important books being removed from the school libraries. My ability to read and learn from so many of these books that are now banned is tragic. I remember read “The Diary Of Ann Frank” while still in elementary school. It made me so more insightful to the world. Now, I want to start reading all of these banned books. Knowledge is priceless. Understanding, empathy, compassion and reality are all important qualities. Thank you for this interview.

The line where Joquin says, "...they were paid to kee[ me and it still wasn't enough." just rocked me. The depth of sadness in that singular line.

Sorry, Velshi, I misspelled your name in earlier comment, at 80 my eyes and fingers aren't as accurate as they used to be. But I know an excellent program when I see it. Thanks for always speaking truth to power!!!

How crazy to ban such a marvellously written book. In this day and age, in a “modern” country. Very concerning.

This reminds us that it's important to stand up for everyone's education, even those who want to ban books... Better late than never, for them, and their children...

I wish this book had been around when I was working as a family therapist with traumatized children and adolescents - it would have been great as material for work both with individuals and groups.
