Great interview with a pretty awesome human being.

Thanks Yoann, for taking the time to give an English speaking interview. Your boat is fantastic, love the all round visibility and the helmsmans seat. Wishing you the best of luck for the race. You seem very well prepared. Respect.

Interesting evolution of design. Can't wait to see how it does. Cockpit of that thing looks like the Millenium Falcon! Good luck!

Rather than simply showing the guy talking it would be great to actual spend more time showing the things he's talking about. I hope we get a lot of English reports from him during the race. Usually you get very few English reports from the French/French speaking skippers even if their English is also good.

Cliff, May be question of time the skipper is able to give you, before the start... That's international event with a lot of medias (tv, magazines, radios, webzine...) all skippers are absolutely under a lot of pressure, and the timing is very tight ...

I'm noticing that most of the boats have a LOT more windows than last race!
@yachtingworldАй бұрын
Yes, lots of IMOCA teams moved to very enclosed cockpits in the last race but this time around there's been a real focus on visibility and 'liveability' for the skippers within those enclosed spaces, lots of different solutions to the cockpit set up etc - fascinating!

And they all laughed at Alex Thompson in his totally enclosed Hugo Boss....

Seems obvious they should have 4 main independent foils to address the nose dives.
@sheerluckholmes5468Ай бұрын
Yeah it aint quite so obvious. Under the IMOCA rules, besides the keel you are allowed four other under water attachments, two of those being the rudder blades and two foils at the front doesn't leave much room for any more foils.

@@sheerluckholmes5468 Euro Socialists love the artificial rules. Thats why Europe is dysfunctional and regressive. Oskar Schindler wasnt the good guy he was a Nazi Socialist. The only goal should be fast sail boats not artificial rules that slow them down.

Several skippers have expressed a desire for foils on the rudders that can be trimmed in the next iteration of the IMOCA class rules
