Wow, around 1:20 when the narrator is speaking of the emotions at the start, people wiping their eyes, I was too. I need to think about why this race excites me so. This is only my second Vendee race, and the first time I watched from Day One. I've only sailed a couple times in my life. This is about the only sporting event that really excites me. I like motor racing, but this is the ultimate.

It would be nice to have a media class before the race to advise all the skippers to keep their phone on landscape mode, to look at the camera, not the screen so we don't have a close-up on the nostrils! it would be more pleasant.

They have a diesel engine + generator, as well as a hydrogenerator (i.e. a water turbine). The Vendée-Globe organizer announced that they want to ban power generation from diesel from the next race.
