Indeed there is stuff like this on his "Thank You" album. You really got close to it by using just Ableton. Very impressive tips. Emulating his timing can be as simple as typing 7/4 in the time signature and there you have it :) I have occasionally hear him use 10/16 as well but many, many times 7/4.

Simply typing 7/16 would not sound like 7/16 without the relevent downbeats and upbeats and subdivisions. 7/8 can be thought of as 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3,

Just copying VS’s choice of time signature won’t get you VS-sounding breaks. Yes the time signature will be the same, but there are other factors beyond just time signature. It’s not just THAT simple.

@@VoidVertex 7/8 can be broken down into grouping of 2 and 3 a few different ways…..2/2/3. Or 2/3/2..or 3/2/2. This conversation is still all just technical information that is kind of structural rhythmic form, but you will have to figure out how to make it funky. There’s no real short cuts in life.

Hi, it has delay with a few milliseconds with a lot of feedback. A bit crusher and a gate to create a choppy sound. I had them all on the channel and automated the bypass on and off.
