I remember when Prince sang party like it is 1999. Now we want to go back to 1999. Life was so much simpler then. Didn't have to worry about being an adult. All I had to worry about was friday nights. Life seemed endless. Music was good. Life was cool. Life by no means sucks but my life is half over now. Music is one common bond we all have as humans and this song does an amazing job of taking us back to a simpler funner time.

I have always wanted to go back to 1999. That year I got my vengaboys album for Xmas and it was the soundtrack of that special time in my life. Then Charli released this song in 2018 and completely felt identified with wanting to go back. Now the vengaboys cover it. I guess this is the closest I will ever get to have a time machine.

Can we all go back to 1999? I may have only been 7 years old, but I remember it perfectly and it was awesome even for my childhood self - so much optimism for the future. And the best trance music ever made (and the height of its commercial popularity) was produced in 1999. I'd say at least 35% of all the music I listen to regularly was made between 1996 and 2000! The fact the Vengaboys made a track like this is AWESOME!

True, this cover sounds more original, and much better, than the original itself. I think, it‘s cause of the fact that the Vengaboys are actually from the 90s. Other major improvements are the added dance segment and the use of the „Pump up the jam“ sample.

@@spudzlightbeer Oh, I didn't know that. but I'm not surprised at all since J.Lo did a lot of beat re-using and even more or less "taking" songs from others while keeping demo vocals on them. As I expected, the J.Lo version is a lot better. It's a really really good song still after 20 years. 3rd Party's version is solid and okay but nothing special. The Vengaboys have the better video of 1999. I don't mind them covering it. They didn't change too much but I think I still prefer the Charli XCX original version. By the way: It's definitely possible to enjoy listening to both pop, rock, hip hop, EDM and every genre you want. I like switching it up so it doesn't get boring.
