ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art! When we are not embracing life in the French countryside, we share with you our city lives as we explore and work in Paris.
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

I grew up with a father who loves to “discuss” all the things people do wrong on the roads... and often off the roads as well. It can be quite tiresome when everything out of his mouth seems negative and as if he just enjoys fussing for the sake of fussing. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️😒 So my mother tried to turn it around and when he started fussing she would say “oh, he’s just having fun”. It seemed to help remind him that not every negative needs to be focused on and announced and then talked about in detail. It certainly didn’t completely break him of this habit but it slowed down significantly! But even now, in his golden years, when he’s not trying to be funny/punny he’s still “just having fun” fussing! What are we to do besides just loving him? So of course we do... just love him!🤷🏻‍♀️🥰 ❤ Venice is gorgeous, as per usual... even in the rain and soggy streets. Love seeing all the magnificent costumes! It seems incredible you found an empty restaurant during carnival. How is that even possible? What a very special evening celebrating friendship and love! Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗💗💗

Simon's comments about the trucks trying to pass each other- we have that situation with Trucks from our largest port trying to pass each other heading up the hill road leading to the next province. We call it elephant racing and mutter as you get stuck behind them barely travelling at 30 kms per hour.
